I have to make a flash movie that would allow the user to control the framerate of the movie. Unfortunately I'm not that good with flash and I don't know how that could be done ..I thought about something like

Simply put, I am making a flash midi player. I am using ENTER_FRAME for my timings. I set the framerate to 100 to ensure that the timing of each note in milliseconds is accurate. When I test the movie with CTRL + ENTER it works fine. When I publish it and open it in a browser (tested both IE and Chrome), it suddenly plays back a lot slower. I don't think it's a performance issue, since the code is very simple. If this slowdown is consistent then I can perhaps work with it so that the playback speed will be correct. Do browsers make the framerate slower or do they implement a framerate cap of some sort? What is going on?

Each movie clip is on a single slide.
They play through and when a clip reached the end I have used the actionscript root.gotoAndPlay(x) where x is the slide number of the next clip in the sequence as such my timeline looks like this[code]...

I have been trying to make a sound control panel in an SWF movie that toggles through about 4 different music tracks. I have not been able to get the if/else statements to work for the button. Is it possible to control a Flash movie from JS when you have no control over the source? I have decompiled the movie to see its inner workings, but I know nothing about Flash, so I'm mostly in the dark. I don't know much about flash yet but I can imagine FLV is just some sort of special flash application which can also include arbitrary code.
Is it possible to track how many times that movie file has been played by letting the FLV file perform a server-callback when playback begins?

- I know if I make my rotation angle vary by 20 degress ,I can make it stop on desired pie segment.
- For instance if I have to make stop on 18 slice,I have to do rotation by 20 degrees.
- What I want is that user puts some value say 10, then my application have to stop on 10 slice and it follows above logic.
- I am bit confused on how to implement this with my above logic.
- Further ,the number of segment can vary and I do want to make a logic that works for any number of segments i.e. user can control on which rotation to stop.
i am working on a survey form in MX-04 Pro. I have the main .swf file embedded in an HTML page. The document's width is longer than the viewable screen so the person taking the survey has to scroll down to answer the remaing questions and hit the "continue" button to proceed to the next page/frame in the movie. When the user hits the "continue" button the next frame in the movie appears but the HTML page is still scrolled to the bottom. Is there any ActionScript I can inclued in the frame or continue button to make the movie/survey appear at the top of the html page when the user hits the "continue" button?#2
Is it possible to make the items in a List component sort randmoly? or maybe alternate between "ASC" & "DESC" order? Furthermore, there would be an "Other" option included in my list but I would like that to remain at the bottom of the list while the other items in the list were sorted randomly?
Just finally making the transition from AS2 to AS3.All i need to do at this point is make two buttons which will control the movie to goto next frame and previous frame. I have gotten how to make the buttons go to a specified frame number and also a button to go to a specified external url but no success in making a simple next/previous pair of buttons.

i have a simple 2 frame movie on pc1, when it starts it goes to and stops at frame 1 , we need to be able to change to frame 2 when a user clicks a button on PC2 (can use php/VB etc). It's all on a closed lan so no security problems .
View 3 RepliesI have a need to control one flash movie with another. For example: I have a graphical interface created in Flash AS3 which is simulating the control of machines on the ocean floor. I have 3D animations that will animate what is happening on the ocean floor when a control element is activated on the graphical interface. At the moment I have this happening all in one Flash player window that has been made to look like two windows. One which is the interface...one that is made to look like a small screen showing what looks like video coming in from a camera on the ocean floor.
What I need to be able to do is have the Control Screen as one window, and the animations to appear in another. In this way we can set up two monitors, have the control screen on one (computer monitor), the animations playing on the other (a large plasma connected to the same computer). The animations need to play within a flash shell and the control screen would need to play in a separate shell. So in essence I need to be able to double click on an .exe....two screen will activate showing one screen with buttons that port animations into the second screen which I have positions to play on the larger screen.
I'm using jquery to drag popup control around the page ,every things work fine but when the page has flash movie the popup doesn't appear over flash also when set z-index to 100 .
is there any work around this issue???

View 1 Repliesim creating a presentation that has a bunch of links to websites and pdf files. right now the presentation opens fullscreen when first opened but if the user clicks one of the pdf or web links the clip minimizes and if the user tries to maximize the flash window the menu bar at the top is visible and cuts off some of the content.
is it possible to detect when the user tabs away from the presentation so the clip will pause automatically and i can tell the user to click to continue? i know this code will work fscommand ("fullscreen", "true"); that will make the presentation fullscreen again but i need the movie to pause if the user clicks a link. i have seen this before in games where the game will pause if i tab to another program and i have to click to continue.

View 1 RepliesI have a product by IMTOO.com that converts AVI files to SWF files. I used it, and I also specified that I wanted the final file to be small. The final file plays OK in flashplayer 10, but the control bar is all black. You don't see any controls on it such as 'play', 'pause' and 'maximize'.Now there is a menu you can get by right-clicking on the movie. That gives you 'play' and 'pause', but not maximize.My question is, why is this happening. Why can't I see controls on the control bar, and why can't I maximize at all, even with the right-click menu?
