I have been trying to work this out in my head. So far, no luck.I'm going for the effect on the matrix, where characters appear as if they are being typed on the screen.

What should I do to fix this? This is not going to be an HTML file, however, so the initial thought of changing the publish settings does not seem to work this time.
I am using embed fonts for my input textfields.When i run the script directly(ctrl+enter) everything works fine,i can type every character to the input fields but when i run it via browser(localhost) i cant type some characters correctly.What should i do ?
View 6 RepliesMy Flash AS3 application includes input TextFields. The user can choose from an array of fonts to use. These fonts are loaded at runtime from external SWFs. In order to support as many languages as possible, and to avoid having to load many MBs of foreign-language glyphs, I've included the "_sans" and "_serif" fonts. So, the idea is that a Russian user can type Cyrillic characters, or an Israeli can type Hebrew, when they select one of these two fonts.
Here's my problem: A Hebrew user has reported that they cannot type Hebrew characters into the TextField (only squares appear). BUT, when they copy-and-paste Hebrew text into the TextField, it DOES appear. This seems to prove that the Flash Player is able to find the appropriate glyphs on the user's system. But the user can't type them directly. If you've encountered this, have you tried a successful work-around, such as providing some kind of virtual keyboard interface?
I have a flash app and a textfield in it. I can change locale on the system tray and type unicode characters, for example with windows -1251 encoding. If I use jquery to send the unicoded text to save to database, how does it get there, as windows-1251 encoded or other encoding, like UTF-8?
Or lets just say with which encoding it get to jquery at first?
I'm using Flash CS5. I have created an Input Text box, but for some reason, the only numerals that apear on the screen when typed are 0, 1, and 2. If one types 3, etc., they just don't appear.
Also, I have a dynamic text box for which when I do the following, it only shows "lease type a number from 1 to 12." with no "P".
txt_incorrect_number.text = "Please type a number from 1 to 12."

I just can't figure out how to make the video as well) And obviously an external video so the flash file wont take forever to load.The point is this is to be able to have the Video be the background. View 2 RepliesI'd like to have the swf get as big as possible for each user without requiring scrolling. Of course it would stick to a certain ratio, currently I'm using 2:1 but that could be changed (maybe I should use 16:9 since it is the standard widescreen ratio).
I am only using Actionscript 3 for code and MXMLC for compiling.

I'm wondering how I would go about making a Mouse Trace, on a line that's preset but my choosing to let people enter into my Flash and/or progress throughout it. Basically, I have a picture of say, the number 5, I want to be able to have people use the mouse cursor to trace the 5 from one end to the next, and once completed the sites move forward. Though, I will be using my company logo which is a bit more advanced than a single number or letter form. If no one is sure what I'm talking about I've added a picture to demonstrate what I'm trying to do. Another idea I have if this one can't be accomplished, is a slide bar.Basically, it would look like a timeline control in say, VLC, and I would have the user drag a button from one side to the next to unlock and move forward. Though that may seem a bit more simple that my main idea, I would also like to be able to get really advanced with this second function and make a series of slide bars, say, 3, and they have to be slid in a certain manner, like slide bar 1,3,2 then it unlocks and moves forward.
View 1 RepliesIm currently trying to create a type of speedometer thing which reacts via various buttons on the screen.I done a simple script for the needle to move so many degrees left or right but this simple script doesn't stop the needle from continuing to go to far left or right (min/max on dial). Is there a way of stoping the needle once it has reached say 10 degrees and 120 degrees?

View 1 RepliesI am a little confused now, My client is insisting to have the UI of this gameportal made in vector and his logic is that: It should look still good once they see itin the full screen mode !!!! There for everything including the logo and buttons and gradients should be made in Illustrator. To my Knowledge that's not true , Browsers do not support vector formats.But I might be wrong and some new technologies are involved that I am not aware of.

I have a map of the US and each state has a rollover that changes the color of the state...what i am trying to figure out is how to click on the state and have text appear to the side of the US map and have that text stay up until the user clicks on another state.
