how to make the text already in the input text box disappear when you click on it.
For example:

i have an one input text box, first i type text into it and press space bar at this it will become empty and ready to accept next input from starting position, i make the text box empty by
textbox.text = "";
but the cursor not set to initial position in text box it consider "" as "space" and cursor will display after one space only, i need that cursor again move to starting position..

The input_1 box has a 13 character limit. My initial font size is 200, i want to scale down so when the user types 10 letters they fit the box and they don't go out of screen. I want to use one line, so wrap or multiline is not possible.

When applying text formatting to a comboBox, the text formatting appears perfectly on the dropdown menu items but the textField text disappears.Removing the text formatting from the textField makes the textField text reappear but of course there is no text formatting.
Is there a trick to this.

The problem:If I uncomment either of the imageText.embedFonts lines, my text will disappear... but the trace(imageText.text); will still return the correct contents. It's as though embedFonts causes the textField to disappear.Possibly related, (but maybe not), is the fact that the vertical positioning of the font is off. Even though I create the textField at Y = 0, the text writes somewhere around Y = 10. I suspect this is something else, but I thought I'd add it just in case.
I need to put together an editable text area that has a custom caret (cursor) which is different from the default blinking vertical line. Is the caret a "skinnable" property of text input? note that I am not asking about the mouse pointer cursor which can be set using the CursorManager.

I need the ability to click the Bold button and it bolds or unbolds at the cursor so if I hit the bold button what I type from that point on will be bold until I hit the button again and then it goes back to regular. I am able to change it to bold or unbold by selecting the text and clicking the button but I also need to do it without selecting.

I noticed that if you highlight the text with your mouse multiple times really fast, the text will sometimes dissapear. whats up with that?
You have to be fast in order to initiate this bug, click and highlight and do it multiple times really fast.

Once they have input their text they click a button to continue and user is now shown a results page comprising of the text they have just entered. This i have managed to do.
However, when users click the 'go back button' to return to the form, possibly to correct a mistake they may have made, it seems that the text that they had entered previously has now been lost, and the input text fields have gone back to their original state.
