View 2 RepliesMy goal is to shoot a bullet everytime I click on ship. What happens, in fact, is that If I click on it once, the bullet is shot, but if I click on it twice before the first bullet is off the screen, the first bullet literally stops(it does not disappear, only stops) and the second bullet is shot.

I'm currently making my own shoot'em up game where the player can switch between two player types which will fire their own bullet type in this case, squares and circles. I've setup the player switch function via pressing "space" button (switching between the two player types) and the default bullet type is "squares" and I'm not sure to approach the coding with changing the bullet type to "circles".I've written 2 classes for the bullet and player setup:Player Class: Creates instance of bullet on screen and enables the switch player type function

I'm trying to make my platform game character shoot a gun, my character and gun are one movieclip and the bullet is another. The bullet mc starts on a blank frame with a stop() function, when I press the space bar the bullet mc plays from frame 2 which is a motion tween of the bullet quickly moving across the page. I've set the bullet's y and x values relative to the character mc so that the bullet always comes from the gun.
My issue is that if I press the space bar a bullet will fly out of the gun (great!) but if I press the space bar again, the first bullet disappears and the bullet animation starts again. I want to be able to shoot a new bullet every time I press the space bar without effecting the bullets that have already been shot.

Making a Comic book/Video game with Flash Action Script 2.0. Check out my blog ive uploaded a couple of demos on it.Anyways i want to make a movie clip appear on stage when the user finds a key. The movie clip would be used as a trigger to send the player into an other version of the second level where a door would now be unlockable (only if he has the key).I know how to make the hittest work its making the movie clip appear on stage with an action that is giving me problemes.

I created a simple slideshow type thing that involves two buttons that allow a user to go left or right to view additional pictures. All of the pictures are stored in a single movieclip.When the buttons are clicked it just changes the x value of the movie clip.Everything works perfectly.Currently when it reaches the last picture (the very end of the movie clip) it scrolls back to the beginning. But I have to change it so that it appears to loop... Making a movieclip move to a frame label.
Ok, I have my main movie, with a movieclip on layer2. The movieclip is named slideclip.
In slideclip I have two frame labels (open, and slide).
When I click on a button in scene1 ( My main movie) I want Movieclip Slide to move to frame label "slide".
How can I make a movie clip move to a certain frame?
I use flash cs3 and as2 for the game.
1:Basically, I want to make a little circle so that when I put my mouse over it it will give me 10 points then disapear, so I wrote this in the movie clip actions:

2: I would also like to know, how do I make a movie clip with a code but when I copy it the actions won't disapear. That would save a lot of my time because I wouldn't need to copy/paste the code in each movie clips.
But when I test the game and put my mouse over it, it just adds me 10 points but it doesn't disapear.
I'm currently creating a slideshow effect when you have a series of MC's from left to right and when you rollover one of the movie clip's, it expands 150%. That i got down. However, I want it where when this occurs, the clip appears in front of all the other clips in the sequence and right now only a portion of it does. The other portions appears behind one of the MC's to the right. How can I alleviate this using AS3 code?

The problem I'm having now is either removing the original movie clip or at the very least making it invisible when the next movie launches. So far for my button script this is what I have:

i have 2 classes, one for ship one for bullet.i was trying to set the bullet.x to ship.x in the bullet class but it keeps telling me undefined. but clearly it is in my ship class.

View 3 RepliesI have a movie clip that is about 30 frames long. I've placed an instance of it on the main timeline and it follows a motion path. My motion path ends after about 20 frames. At this time, I've inserted a keyframe which is preventing my movie clip from playing the remaining 10 frames.
I tried adding an ActionScript layer where the last keyframe is and it reads:
instance.gotoAndPlay (20)
Doesn't seem to work. Just a note that this is around frame 292 of the main timeline. Also note, a new keyframe begins on another layer with a different movie clip.
I have a movie into which I am loading external swfs. this all works fine but some of the content is duplicated and where there is slimline text it shows that there are two layers. see the header on white here:
how can i set the alpha to 0 or remove the host movieclip, from the externally loaded swf. does that make sense? so once the external swf has loaded into the empty movieclip then the parent movie disappears.

I was using these commandsvIn.getBytesLoaded()lvIn.getBytesTotal()but I do not know where i exactly put these two commands with some formulas or what other function i am missing. Because when i put it in the function(success) part, it gives an equal value which is the total bytes loaded. I need to know how to make a movie clip appear exactly where the user clicks.I have a button that is made up of four separate parts across the stage, and when you click a part of it, I'd like for a movie clip to appear on that button, where you just clicked.Rather than creating 4 separate movie clips (and four separate buttons) showing the same thing, can I just make one, and make it move to the location the user has clicked?Please let me know if this makes sense! I have one simple movie clip (instance name is MC) and a button. I need to make the movie clip move by a distance of 50 (along the x-axis) every time the button is pressed. I don't need the movie clip to move to x-position 50 but rather a distance of 50 regardless of where it currently is on the stage.

After the set of 6 pictures plays through the text is supposed to disappear and a new text appears to label the next set of 6 pictures. Problem is: the text doesn't disappear!
I made all the text layers a symbol/movie clip. I animated each text to disappear at a certain point in the timeline but when I test the movie the texts just remain there and build up one after the other.
When watching the movieclip, pay attention to the text in the lower left screen.

So far my logic seems fine for half of the experiment, however, not the other half:[URL] What I'm trying to accomplish is when a user holds down the mouse and drags it across the stage the movie clip will rotate in 3D space horizontally. That works, however, when the mouse is released the movie continues to rotate along with the mouse position. When the movie clip is clicked again then it will stop rotating, but it cannot be clicked and dragged a second time. The link above explains it the best. Also I want to make it so the movie will start to rotate when the mouse is down anywhere on the stage and not just the mc itself.

I'm working on a game where you have a car that will drive along a side-scrolling terrain, and it needs to folllow the hills up and down and rotate accordingly. Because the front wheel and back wheel will need to be at different heights as the car moves, I'm wondering what the best way to make it rotate correctly is?
The height detection works, and the car will follow the hills but that's just using one point on the car movie clip to test with - it needs to use the front and back of the car.
