in the SWF file itself, the mouse wheel works perfectly (using 28bit's code for the scroll) you can see it here...
but, when in the desired html, it doesn't.. check it out...
I'm using AS3 and created a MOUSE WHEEL EventListener. It works fine when testing in the Flash authoring program...but not in the browser.(except In IE...which I found odd).I have looked around in different forums and many people have this problem and explanations on why it doesn't workI believe the problem cannot be solved in Flash...but through JavaScript.

I know its not a javascript solution because while the game is loading, you can scroll up and down the HTML page (even if your mouse focus is set to the SWF). But as soon as the game starts and initiates, the mouse wheel only affects the SWF and not the HTML.

View 3 RepliesI've been working on building a flash website, embedding it in html, and have one minor annoying feature that I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of... I've got it so that when the mouse hovers over scrollable content, the mousewheel can be used to scroll the text up and down - if the mouse is over other content in the embedded flash, it doesn't scroll that text section, just the browser window, which is perfect. The problem is that while the mousewheel is scrolling the proper text up and down, the browser is also affected, causing the whole page to bobble up and down as well (the network I'm building it on prevents scaling to fit multiple resolutions, so I'm stuck with fitting it to the resolution that most of our computers use and having other users deal with it being a little small or a little oversized). Is there some way to adjust the code so that when the scrollable text area picks up on the mouseover listen event to allow scrolling via mousewheel, it turns off the browser's scrolling, or am I just stuck with it?

I am making a spin wheel and the hitTestObject doesn't seems to be displaying correctly Basically, there is an arrow (the finger that locate where the wheel stopped) and the wheel itself. The wheel is divided into different segments, and each of these segments can be control by the code. Here's the problem though, my arrow is at the top of the wheel and it only touches 1 of the segment, but whenever I use the hitTestObject method with the arrow and the segments, it somehow detect several segments instead of one. These segments are not overlapping one another so I don't understand why it is detecting several hits instead of one.

I have created a website which consists of pages created from flash and dreamweaver (with embedded swf navigation bar at top of webpage)Once the home page is loaded there is a button to visit the page created with DW (with embedded swf nav bar). This works fine if I run the web from my computer locally.But if I write these entire website on a CD and access all the files from CD and then try to open the same html page from the same button in IE9; it does not work. It just keep showing the progress nothing happens. Interestingly, everything works fine on google chrome browser from the CD and also works fine from the other computer with Xp and IE8. But does not work on Windows 7 with IE9 from a CD specifically.
I have also tried to use the option in DW (called "Convert active content") for that page.which added that .js file and script on the html code. even after that does not work.I have also turned on the option "run active content from the cd" internet option for IE9 and "activex filtering" is also off on the security tab of tools of IE9.
My Flash file is working but the html will not open and play. I've never had this issue before. I brought into Dreamweaver and saved it out hoping that might make a difference but still the same.

The problem with this code is that it scales from the registration point (0,0). Due to the other transformations I'm doing to this image at various times, it isn't possible to move the registration point. The image is larger than the stage and the user is able to drag it around. I want the mouse wheel to zoom in on the place the mouse is hovering over (or at a minimum...the center of the "view" they have...aka the stage)I tried doing this:

I made a full screen flash site (100% width and height), and I was hoping I could scroll it simply with the wheel, even before clicking on the site. It seems it only works if I click first, then I can scroll as intended. Is there any way to avoid clicking first this? I tried embedding with and without SWFObject 2.2.
I think the root of the problem is that my flash does not have focus, and clicking gives that. Is there any way to give focus to it?

View 1 Repliesive been trying to modify this text drag script to enable it to use the mouse wheel. ive managed to make it scroll with the mouse, but i cant seem to make it limit itself to the boundaries of the mask, like the dragger behaves. it just keeps scrolling upwards or downwards to infinity. i was thinking if there was a way to make it behave like the dragger.here is the script if u want to take a look. at the bottom i added the mousewheel listener and attached it to the dragger, and it works perfectly, but as i said, it doesnt stop like when you click it and drag it.
