i created a slide show with buttons, when i test it in flash it works correctly but when i put it in a html page, it does not redirect you to the page when you click on it.

I want to create a sort of slide show with several SWFs and 1 html page. The SWF itself has FORWARD and BACK buttons (its a long story, but I can't just have FORWARD and BACK coded in the html), and upon hitting them, i would like the SWF to call another SWF to replace itself. (again another long story, but each SWF has a low size maximum, which is why I just cant make the entire thing one large SWF).
Annnnd, to make it all smooth and easy, I would like the forward and back buttons to be coded not with the specific SWF that they are calling, but rather with a function which will determine which SWF is currently displayed and then call the appropriate next or previous SWF from an array or list....
I'm having problems with a simple flash site that contains a scrolling slide show, that uses a .xml file.I was sent a .fla file that I couldn't open with MX 2004 ... I asked them to save it as a MX 2004 file. They sent it back, and I was able to open it.The problem is ... when I save it as a .swf the slide show doesn't work.The .swf & .xml files are on the same level in the directory, and the .swf path to the .xml file is correct, also the .xml to the image folder path is correct.I have spent hours going through this, and can't get it to work.I have added images to the .xml file, and they show up (I am using the original .swf) so the .xml file is OK, and again the path from .xml to the images folder is correct. This is the working .swf file (click on the portfolio link )Now ... imagine no images there, and that's what I'm getting when I save the .fla as a .swf.Other changes I make to the .fla are working properly ... just the slideshow is the problem.Did something happen when the .fla was saved as a MX 2004 that caused the .xml part to stop working?IM not a whiz at actionscript, but I have gone over it several times, and can't see anything that looks out of place.

I really hate when you read a tutorial from some "expert" and what it tells you to do is wrong. I was doing a tutorial for a XML slide show, and the last line of code doesn't work quite right:

For some reason that only sends the my_playback_counter to 1. And it just sits there twitching. So when I tried to change the tutorial code to:

I'm developing a new website one with a dynamic slideshow which can be found here. [URL] The problem is, after weeks of it working it all of a sudden now has issues loading the xml data into the swf. The swf loads but nothing displays in it, this worked and I changed nothing but updated the graphics which would display in it. If you hit refresh an untold number of times eventually it loads. To me this sounds like a server issue, but I'm not sure.
I've tried updating my flash player, updated the swfobject.js to the latest one I could find. I've made all my .js local on the server instead of calling externally to a source. I'm not sure what the problem might be. I've attached a working and not working example graphic to this post. I've tested this out on 7 different PC's both of which running either Windows 7 or Windows XP. Out of 7, 4 of them load the slideshow properly each and every time. 3 of them however loads it, but will randomly get the issue where it doesn't load properly.
I'm trying to make a slide-show that adjusts to the width or height of the stage, and eventually, of the web browser window. I was able to load and resize a picture by writing code on the timeline, but I got the Error #1009 (Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference) when I put this slide show into another movie clip loader (which chooses between different swf pages of the website, with the purpose of keeping the swf file sizes down). By the way, my "slide-show" loads the picture fine. When I use the movie clip loader to load this "slide-show" it works too. Only when I use the Flash Player to open it, it gives me the Error 1009. I looked around on actionscript.org, and everyone seems to be recommending the folowing code (or something like it):[code]
I also ran into some information about document classes and I figure maybe I should be using document classes to make this stuff more modular and reusable. So I put my slide-show code into an .as file, importing all the flash.xxx.* classes, and put it in a package and class and constructor function... in the same directory as my swf file, and set it as the document class to a blank fla file. Then I tested it and all I got was a blank swf. This is without the Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE code. I guess I don't know how to get the document class thingy working either. So my question is, can someone tell me how I can change my slide-show code into a working document class without the Error 1009?r?[code]

Is there a way to do so. have little experience using them. View 1 RepliesI have created a small image gallery for use in a CBT Program.What I am looking to do is, each image in the slide when clicked needs to go to a separate html page.I currently have it working as far as being able to execute a single External Call to go to a HTML Page, but it is working for the entire gallery not individual pictures.I am thinking of separating the way the MC are loading into the container, then tying External Calls Specific to the individual clips.

I am using currentSlide.gotoNextSlide to change between slides, however I can't make it stop playback on load of each slide.I have a motion tween with I need to NOT play automatically when the slide loads... but no matter how many iterations of stop(), gotoAndStop(), etc I use, nothing will stop the clip from playing when it is loaded!

View 1 RepliesWhen I changed hosting from the companies hosting to my own personal GoDaddy hosting everything went right, except for 2 flash slide shows (Simple rotating images). They just apear as clear boxes now. You can see what I am talking about here: [URL] and here [URL] . You will notice the empty large empty box on the right in both pages. When you right click on it the browser recognizes that it is flash. On the Piza site I tried taking out the original code and entering the flash object via Dreamweaver CS5, but that yeilded the same results (I only mention this because the code on that site will thus look a bit different).

I have a site where all the pages have a common SWF embedded at the top (Nav and banner), but the rest of the page is HTML.Everything is working fine, but I'm finding the 'independence' between the HTML and Flash is making for some sloppy transitions from page to page.I was expecting the SWF to be delayed, at least for the first page visit(and I have a preload routine inside the swf to make it's delay and appearance a bit more visually pleasant), but was surprised to sometimes find the SWF appearing and playing while the HTML content was delayed (resulting in a SWF floating in black).What I'm wondering is if there's a way I can do some sort of preload on my index page.BUT, not the standard one that I'm sure everyone would suggest (like the javascript image 'preload', or the newer 'css visibility' preload trick). The problem with the standard one is that it doesn't check to see if everything is loaded.What I'm after is a routine on my index page that invisibly loads some of the elements from my inner pages (common swf, maybe some of the images) and WAITS until it's done before moving to the inner pages (displaying the company logo and/or a load status in the meantime).Many people would suggest a preloader inside the common SWF on my inner pages (which I have), but the problem with that on its own is that it doesn't stop the HTML from displaying.
I'm trying to figure out a way to do a preloader (like those in a SWF, which loops until everything is loaded) that controls both the SWF AND the HTML.Recently, I found that you can use one swf to preload another, which would be a potential solution, as I could make an SWF on the index page whose sole purpose is to load (invisibly) the common SWF, displaying the load status and then loading an inner html page once it's done.Problem is, I have bee having trouble finding the coding for that, as most searches for preloaders end up being about standard preloaders, where it's monitoring the same SWF that the code is on, as opposed to controlling a second, external SWF.Can someone point me to or provide me with the proper coding/procedure for a preloader that controlls a second external swf or give me a better solution?

I am designing a website and for the first time I will be trying to implement Flash as a means for navigating the website. I have worked with flash before, but only for animation. I am trying to make a 'Slide-Show' like flash object that flips through slides at a predetermined speed and when a slide is clicked on it takes you to a new page. View 3 RepliesI was taught to make a fading "slide show" in Flash CS3 using movie clips, key frames, and alpha channels. Is there a simpler way? I have a project with over 40 "slides." I am aware of some web sites like slide.com but they seem to include ads which I don't want on a professional site. View 4 RepliesI have created a website which consists of pages created from flash and dreamweaver (with embedded swf navigation bar at top of webpage)Once the home page is loaded there is a button to visit the page created with DW (with embedded swf nav bar). This works fine if I run the web from my computer locally.But if I write these entire website on a CD and access all the files from CD and then try to open the same html page from the same button in IE9; it does not work. It just keep showing the progress nothing happens. Interestingly, everything works fine on google chrome browser from the CD and also works fine from the other computer with Xp and IE8. But does not work on Windows 7 with IE9 from a CD specifically.
I have also tried to use the option in DW (called "Convert active content") for that page.which added that .js file and script on the html code. even after that does not work.I have also turned on the option "run active content from the cd" internet option for IE9 and "activex filtering" is also off on the security tab of tools of IE9.
My Flash file is working but the html will not open and play. I've never had this issue before. I brought into Dreamweaver and saved it out hoping that might make a difference but still the same.
