ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash - Slide Show Stops Working

I'm developing a new website one with a dynamic slideshow which can be found here. [URL] The problem is, after weeks of it working it all of a sudden now has issues loading the xml data into the swf. The swf loads but nothing displays in it, this worked and I changed nothing but updated the graphics which would display in it. If you hit refresh an untold number of times eventually it loads. To me this sounds like a server issue, but I'm not sure.
I've tried updating my flash player, updated the swfobject.js to the latest one I could find. I've made all my .js local on the server instead of calling externally to a source. I'm not sure what the problem might be. I've attached a working and not working example graphic to this post. I've tested this out on 7 different PC's both of which running either Windows 7 or Windows XP. Out of 7, 4 of them load the slideshow properly each and every time. 3 of them however loads it, but will randomly get the issue where it doesn't load properly.

I am using currentSlide.gotoNextSlide to change between slides, however I can't make it stop playback on load of each slide.I have a motion tween with I need to NOT play automatically when the slide loads... but no matter how many iterations of stop(), gotoAndStop(), etc I use, nothing will stop the clip from playing when it is loaded!

I'm having problems with a simple flash site that contains a scrolling slide show, that uses a .xml file.I was sent a .fla file that I couldn't open with MX 2004 ... I asked them to save it as a MX 2004 file. They sent it back, and I was able to open it.The problem is ... when I save it as a .swf the slide show doesn't work.The .swf & .xml files are on the same level in the directory, and the .swf path to the .xml file is correct, also the .xml to the image folder path is correct.I have spent hours going through this, and can't get it to work.I have added images to the .xml file, and they show up (I am using the original .swf) so the .xml file is OK, and again the path from .xml to the images folder is correct. This is the working .swf file (click on the portfolio link )Now ... imagine no images there, and that's what I'm getting when I save the .fla as a .swf.Other changes I make to the .fla are working properly ... just the slideshow is the problem.Did something happen when the .fla was saved as a MX 2004 that caused the .xml part to stop working?IM not a whiz at actionscript, but I have gone over it several times, and can't see anything that looks out of place.

I really hate when you read a tutorial from some "expert" and what it tells you to do is wrong. I was doing a tutorial for a XML slide show, and the last line of code doesn't work quite right:

I'm trying to make a slide-show that adjusts to the width or height of the stage, and eventually, of the web browser window. I was able to load and resize a picture by writing code on the timeline, but I got the Error #1009 (Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference) when I put this slide show into another movie clip loader (which chooses between different swf pages of the website, with the purpose of keeping the swf file sizes down). By the way, my "slide-show" loads the picture fine. When I use the movie clip loader to load this "slide-show" it works too. Only when I use the Flash Player to open it, it gives me the Error 1009. I looked around on actionscript.org, and everyone seems to be recommending the folowing code (or something like it):[code]
I also ran into some information about document classes and I figure maybe I should be using document classes to make this stuff more modular and reusable. So I put my slide-show code into an .as file, importing all the flash.xxx.* classes, and put it in a package and class and constructor function... in the same directory as my swf file, and set it as the document class to a blank fla file. Then I tested it and all I got was a blank swf. This is without the Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE code. I guess I don't know how to get the document class thingy working either. So my question is, can someone tell me how I can change my slide-show code into a working document class without the Error 1009?r?[code]

In my asp.net application,I want to show the .ppt file using the slide show manner.
That's to say,user can upload .ppt file to my server side,then other people can browser these ppts in the page ..
Since I have googled "embed powerpoint in web page" ,it seems that there is not a good idea to implement this and support the cross browser,so I thought the flash.

I am having a major problem with the news slide show I want to make, Mainly It's a news slide show where the images source is an external folder connects to flash using Xml.Everything is working, but what I want is to make buttons related to the current slides where it changes it's appearance as the slide changes.
I've tried alot, but I guess I am lacking some knowledge when it comes to action script.

I made a flash website with an introduction slide show. When the slide show is over it closes altogether in the index web page. The slide show works fine but it closes abruptly. I would like to find out if there is a way to fadeout the slide show at the same rate the images fade out, or if there is a way to make a slideshow with a transparent background. I have a website that I created using a flash template from Hostgator. I have the text portion complete and now want to add some of my own pictures into a slide show or gallery on a serperate page linked to my site. Is there a way to do so. have little experience using them. I thought I could insert the slide show directly into the template like an HTML page.My site is live now and it will give you a better understanding of what I want because I am pretty ignorant when trying to describe issues that I have.My goal would be to have a seperate page not linked to the bones buttons on the top, just a page that I have in my public html folder that are hyper linked to words in the website itself

I am working in Flash Slide Presentation mode. I have a started a sound file playing on the "master" slide and I want it to play throughout my entire presentation. However, on a couple of slides, I want to play some short voice clips. How can I "turn down the volume" a bit on the main sound file so as to hear the short voice clips? And then turn it back up when the voice clip ends?

how to change the background colour of a flash slide-show. I am trying to post a slide-show on a website, but some of the pictures do not fit the box well and, as a result, there are black bars surround them. Is there a way that I can change the background colour so that it blends with the background colour of the website?

When I changed hosting from the companies hosting to my own personal GoDaddy hosting everything went right, except for 2 flash slide shows (Simple rotating images). They just apear as clear boxes now. You can see what I am talking about here: [URL] and here [URL] . You will notice the empty large empty box on the right in both pages. When you right click on it the browser recognizes that it is flash. On the Piza site I tried taking out the original code and entering the flash object via Dreamweaver CS5, but that yeilded the same results (I only mention this because the code on that site will thus look a bit different).

I did a tutorial with macromedia flash professional 8 and all works but the images. On my computer it only shows one image but on my website it doesn't even show one image. There should be four. I am new to flash and am having a hrd time geting it to work. I can't seem to attach the flash document. It says invalid file. I do have a link to a test page I put on my site.[URL]

I am new to using Flash, but with some helpful YouTube tutorials and various Google searches, I was able to create a slide show that automatically transitions to the next after 6 seconds. I also thought it would be neat if I could give users the ability to go back or forward or jump specifically to a certain slide. But my problem is that after I click a button, the timer seems to be off.

I've tried it on several different copies on Flash(on college computers and at home) with different files and no matter what, once I save the file, any action script I had will stop working and will never work again no matter what.
When I create a new document and put in some Actionscript (3), it will work at first. For example if I have one line telling an object to have a lower alpha. Then, consistantly, when I go to "save" it'll stop working.

This function is suppose to deal with loading requests from different kind of movieclips throughout the movie. There is something wrong with 'load(path as URLRequest)'. It compiles fine, but upon running flash simply crashes over and over (flash stopped working). It seems as if there is something wrong with it but flash not being able to catch the error.
The path is given as an argument to the function in the form of a string, but should be converted to a URLRequest before being able to be loaded.

I'm using the gskinner.com bridge to load and talk between a as2.0 object in as3.0 . The library works smoothly. If I upload the html it works smoothly. But when I embed it as using fb:swf on facebook, the as2.0 object stops loading, any clues?

I'm a total begginer in flash and action script, I do have some knowledge in other programming languages.By trying to help a friend I added a contact form in his company website, that was made by someone else.his site is full flash with a index frame that loads several pages.After I built the new contact.swf and tested locally and also hosted by accessing it straight from the browser and embeded I tried to replace it with the old contact.swf that had no contact form.During the tests, everything was fine but when included in the site the form is not functioning.The form has a few rules that prevent empty fields with a green text warning. when I access it embeded separatelly in a web page it works, when I access it loaded by index.swf it does nothinh even if I press the submit button.So I assume the problem is in the index.swf action script.the button that loads the contact page has this code:

I have three buttons, each time you hover over a button an image related to that button will appear. Got this to work by following this tutorial: [URL]
I have the buttons inside a movieclip and the code on each movie clip is
on (rollOver) {

This works together nicely until I roll my mouse over one of the buttons, and pretty much whatever the last button was that I rolled over that's what image stays up. The side buttons still keep rotating at the correct interval, but the images are not the correct ones

I have a project that I am working on the requires something simple but I can't find tutorials/examples of how to do this.
I need to create a slideshow so that when a user clicks an arrow - an image will slide off the screen and another image will move onto the screen (as if there is a long strip of images that move on and off the screen).
I have the images as a long continuous strip, and they should slide onto the screen with each click of the arrow. Then at the end of the strip of images I would like them to quickly bounce back to the beginning.
Something similar to what I want to do, only done in Flash[url]...
