ActionScript 2.0 :: OnRelease - Cannot Scroll Thumbnail Until Roll Off The Click Thumbnail

I am making a gallery, which you can view here:[URL]ok, firstly, when you click a thumbnail, you cannot scroll them until you roll off the click thumbnail, and I'm not sure why. is it just a movieclip thing? or can I put some code in to re-get focus of something? ok, now for the two general questions:
1. When you roll over the thumbs, they go up, sometimes they flick back down though, even though you are rolled over them still. is this just because they are moving?
2. Does anyone know why when I add this:

Im trying to create via xml and a for() loop a thumbnails wiewer and each thumbnail have a simple onrelease function.....but my probleme is that my 'container' movieClip and 'BT' movieClip dont show when I export the movie...also when i trace()them the output is empty. maybe is because they are inside x.onLoad(xml){} function ? At the end of the script you can remove // before the trace() function for ckecking in the output panel. here is my code:

I have made a image-viewer. I've this AS for the viewer:

Now i would like to make a loop for the thumbnails so they don't have a beginning or end(Now when i scroll to the right the thumbnails stop at the last thumbnail, i want it to begin at the first thumb again).I'm also trying to make that the middle thumbnail represents the photo in target_mc.

What I am trying to do is the old thumbnail scroller that scrolles up and down or side ways using the mouse over. And Unlike AS2 where I used the tween and "gotoNext" to play the animation. Wanted to try full actionscript.
So what I have is a movieclip with all the thumnails loaded and I can animate it using the ENTER_FRAME, but what I wanted to do was run the animation only when you mouse over it.
The ENTER_FRAME method:

I have a bunch of thumbnails that i have a left and right scroll button for. It works great but when you get to the last image i want it to loop to the first one not just stop at the end.Here's some of my code let me know if you need more.Quote:

i am trying to emulate the thumbnail scroll feature of this site[URL]. it is at the bottom of the screen of every gallery...i want to smoothen the movement of the thumbnails animation... meaning if the first thumbnail moves a little or half way of its tween but have not reached its destined position, the next thumbnail on the left or right will begin to tween... same goes to the rest of the thumbs... something like overlapping animationi gone thru the fading grid tutorial and understand the logic behind the smoothing code and thought it might work for my case but it doesn't seems to work.... using the additional "continue" function which i tried....i just need to tweak this part and i'm on my way to the next part of my project...

i'm using the XML photo gallery (with vertical thumbnails, instead of horizontal)..and i have an issue that i'm trying to resolve.whenever i scroll up or down and move off of the thumbnails, the thumbnails continue to scroll. i would like the thumbnails to quit scrolling once my mouse is off of the thumbnail area.

The problem is the scroll isn't working properly.You will see what I mean if you click hereWhen I export for flash player 9 instead of 6 I also have a couple of problems.
1) the first image doesn't load.
2) the image loads before the border changes size. (Look at the last image and any of the other images and you will see what I mean)

I've started doing an XML gallery. I've been going through the AS3 XML Grid Image Gallery tutorial on Republic of Code
Except I want the thumbnails to do a horizontal continuous scroll, instead of being set out on a grid.
Now that in AS3 I can't use duplicateMovieClip. Is there anyway to make it loop without repeating the nodes in my XML?

Following some tutorials, I coded for a thumbnail scroll panel that works just fine. The thumbnails are scrolling when the mouse if hovering the panel and stops scrolling when the mouse leaves the panel.
However, I'd like to create a slow down effect on the thumbnail scroll panel when the mouse cursor leaves the scroll panel (instead of immediately stop scrolling).

I am going to create a scrolling panel with quite large image. The height will be 400px and the width will be different from image to image.
If I do this in only flash the swf will be too large for use on the Internet. So I want to load the images from a xml-document. And this is my problem:
How do I load my images into the panel from an xml-document? And the width of my panel should be as long as the total width of the images are.

The issue i'm having is that I want to use the Preloaded Thumbnail gallery as described in this thread [URL]
The catch is that I have 600 photos to do this with, so I'd like to create the scrollPane which will be capable of scrolling through them.
What I've gotten so far. I created the scrollPane, and then I've followed the tutorial's on how to get that working, I've also gotten the mc working for the photo gallery. I can't seem to get the two to work together. I've stripped this down to just the working thumbnail gallery with the settings I need. intergration of the scroll pane and mc thumb?

I built my gallery and import it a parent page (foo)... Sometimes the scroll of thumbnail scroll works... it is choppy.... Sometimes does not work at all.... When I view the movie outside of foo - it works beautifully...

I've tried applying Ilyas' infinite menu to the Senocular's XML portfolio. However, the movement looks bad--you can see where the thumbs stop and begin. I was wondering how this could be fixed??
Also, would it be possible that when you click on a thumbnail, a PDF file is launched? How could I do this from the XML file?
I'm trying to create a continuous scrolling horizontal menu. The menu would contain pictures of news articles and when you click on the picture, you could read the article in the PDF!
Since each article is pretty long, like news clippings, I don't think having this info in a flash pop-up box would work?

I'm having trouble trying to get rid of an image in my container when I click on a thumbnail. I keep getting an error saying DisplayObject must be a child of the caller.I've looked around the web and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, nor am I sure what the error means when its referencing the caller.[code]

I want to change the alpha of a thumbnail after it has been pressed, to indicate that the user has clicked it.
However, I also am changing the alpha when the user hovers over it and On Mouse Out. I've tired this:

What seems to happen here is that if the user clicks on it again, it can't be seen.
A problem with the below code it, On Mouse over, it fades it by 50. Then, On Click, it disappears. Then, on mouse out, it fades back to 100.

iam using a template, i designed everything alright but need to know how to click a thumbnail to open a file in the root directory.The XML file for the thumbnails looks like this currently and everything in the flash movie work and the explorer window opens to he link:

I am working on a website where I want certain images to load whenever a user clicks on a thumbnail. I want a preloader to appear before the image is displayed. I created this so far:

The progress bar (bar_mc) blinks once and then blank... a white screen... Besides, I want this code to be executed when a user clicks a thumbnail, how can I implement this on a button, while at the same time, the first thumbnail should load automatically, so there's no exmpty page when the user first opens the website?

I followed Senocular's XML portfolio tutorial and everything is working fine, except I want for each thumbnail when you click, for it to open the larger pic in a javascript window. I got it working, almost, the strange thing it's opening the same large pic no matter which thumb I click on. It seems to be loading the same javascript window also, with the adress being the html file where the swf file is. The code in the html file is this:

Yes, I'm making a photo gallery like everyone else. I'm making it so people can order pics from the site. There are going to be about 500 photos per album in 5 different categories. The photos can be shrunk down to about 60kb a piece. If I use the actual pictures as thumbnails, just scaled down, the total size of all the pics will be about 30mb. I know this is a lot.
Either way, the people looking at the album will most likely look at nearly all the pics so they will be using up bandwidth either way. Plus, if I use the actual pics as thumbs the user will not have to wait to see actual pic when it's clicked on because it's already loaded. A preloader is annoying to me. I do realize a preloader would be wise when loading the thumbs. Just dislike them after you click one for the big picture.
So is using shrunken thumbs a necessity or if the big pic is under a certain size it shouldn't matter if I use it for a thumb also?

I am an artist trying to remake my website...I have a picture of a window on my homepage. The window is a movie. When clicked on, the window lights turn on and a grid of thumbnail pics appear. Each thumbnail is a movie clip. When a thumbnail is clicked on, the movie plays and a larger image appears over the window. The problem is, the window is still active underneath the large image, so if I click on the large image, I am really clicking on the window movie clip underneath, and the thumbnail grid disappears-starting the window movie clip over. How do I make the window clip inactive after it is initially clicked? Also, I would like the larger images to end their movie clips after another thumbnail is clicked, so that there aren't large images piled up on top of each other.

I would like to create a simple photo gallery in as3. I would like the user to be able to click on the image thumbnail and see an enlarged version come up next to it. The only galleries I see for flash are XML galleries and it was really complicated the last time I tried it.

The easiest thing is if you look at my swf: [URL] Ive built a dynamic photo gallery which works from an XML database. The database contains the various gallery titles, the photo image paths and their captions.
The first page of the gallery is a thumbnail index page (lots of small preview images of the photos). The thumbnails load up one by one, they are only 1kb each but there are hundreds so takes some time. If a user clicks on one, the thumbnail movieclip is hidden with (._visible) and the photo page is shown, also with (._visible).
The problem is, the thumbnails are still being loaded in the background, so the chosen photo is not downloaded+shown until all the thumbnails have loaded. What kind of code do I need to place on the thumbnail's "onRelease" function to cancel the parent "make thumbnails" function ive made?

In my CS4 flash document I have created a media gallery. It's a very simple interface that has mouse overs on thumbnail pictures, and then the larger picture will fadeUP in the center of the document. (With use of framelabels in the timeline).
In the same document, I want the user to be able to click on a video thumbnail, and that video plays back in the center of the document. Several questions: If the user clicks on the thumbnail "onrelease," the time line goes to the player, is it possible to stream this video from a youtube clip into my media player on the screen? If not and I have the document in a fl4 format, is there a simple process to have this video open? (I currently do not have the document in fl4 format).

I want to create a button that toggles but has a roll over, roll out and click animation. Anyone willing to point me in the direction I need to be so that I can achieve this. I can create the roll over and roll out animation for the buttons but then how could I toggle between the two buttons. Ultimately this is for a start and stop situation. I want when I roll over the button for it to have a transition then click and it toggles to the alternate button with animation. I have been tackling this now for a week and with no success. So far I have found ways to toggle but loose the animation or vice verse.

I am working on a flash photogallery. It is pretty basic, just consists of thumbnails. The larger images are on another page all together. I didn't write this script myself, I'm still learning. So i grabbed a flashmo file. It is flashmo_067.Anyways, i changed some things around. I made the images scroll with the mouse and i took out alot of the extra stuff in the gallery. I also changed the document size and the thumbnail size.I created thumbnails to the exact size i made the holder in the flash file. Yet when i pull up the movie, the images are doubled in size and are overlapping. I have looked at the actionscript a bunch of times and still cant figure it out. I changed the size of the thumbnail to be smaller but it just blows it up and makes it very pixelated. I cant seem to figure it out.

We bought this Flash template to save time:to make this siteI knew a template would limit us (especially since I only know HTML/a little CSS), but of course, we need a few tweeks. To save time (and if anyone is interested), I have uploaded the source files so you can see the structure here:The flash file is set up like this:Fla file for all the image souces & layoutIndex.html File has some sort of fancy javascriptText.html file is the editable file where non-flash-knowing dingbats like me can just edit the text and POOF! Magic!I know I have bastardized them from the original and some stuff is probably wonky.The biggest problem is that the "thumbnails" that you click on at the starpage are auto-generated, cropping the top left 100x100 square. I don't know why this is the case, and honestly, I think it looks awful.
Is there any way to manually set the thumbnail images, so they are cropped artistically rather than randomly? I asked the template tech support and they told me to "make my images 100x100". I did that for the first blue logo, and it looks like CRAP! Sure, I have the icon I would like, but when someone goes to browse the gallery, they get a 100x100 icon displaying instead of a lovely fullscreen pic.
