ActionScript 2.0 :: Populate Scrolling Text Field With Multidimensional Array Values?

I have a detailed results page to which I want to post all the questions, answers, and whether the user answered correctly or incorrectly. All this information is stored in a multidimensional array and its successfully showing the results via the trace method.
My question is, what is the syntax for populating a dynamic text field with these results? Do I just write out one long line of AS with the newline command to separate the data? How would I go about applying bold to certain parts of the stored data that I will be showing?

I am using a gallery written in AS3.0 called SlicedCubeGallery. It used Flex to publish the gallery.I can edit the functions for the SlicedCubeGallery, and the one I am targeting is the one that swaps the images (which I have running on a timer).I am loading the whole gallery SWF onto my stage using this code:

I have a dynamic text filed scrolling with a drag button on a track or the mousewheel. What I am trying to do now is have the scroll button and track not visible if the content is smaller than the text field.

I m trying to populate a text field (modelT) with the text corisponding to the "data" part of the selectedItem in the combo box. The "data" shows up correctly when i use:
modelT.text = event.target.selectedItem.data;
But i'm trying to call it with a "if" statement (in red) so later on i can dynamically populate the text field from multiple combo box's. am i missing something simple, here is my code:

I'm loading 6 variables from a text file to populate an array, then using setInterval to populate two textfields every 5 seconds. IE7 gives me the "A script in this file is causing Flash Player 10 to run slowly do you want to abort this script?" It runs fine locally, but when I upload it, it won't work. Files are in the same folder in each case. Here is the entire script.

I have a Flash site I am developing that feeds in XML into various arrays and populates dynamic movie clips and text fields. I am having trouble making a for loop that works with my movieclips and text fields. I am probably only missing one step and if I can figure it out I will cut my lines of code about 10X. I have attached the fla and image files in a zip file.

I've a dynamic text field, populated from an external file,and with a scrollbar. I'd also like it to respond to mousewheel or trackpad scrolling. I have tried setting mouseWheelEnabled to true,but that doesn't seem to do the job (and seems to require clicking the field anyway). What else should I be looking at? Would I also need so listen for the mousewheel or scrolling event?

I'm using Flash 8 Pro (if I don't finish today, I'll switch to CS4 Pro/AS2), and I have a dynamic text box and used actionscript to make it scroll. I need to insert images into that text box, but I can't figure out how. I don't know how to get HTML to work in conjunction with it either. I'm afraid that if I change too much, the AS will stop working.This is the code I'm using to make it scroll:

i load data from xml file and i show the content. But if i try to print the field, it prints only the visible area. I thin the fastest way to explain the problem is to show the [code]...
So that is my AS code and it all works fine except when you move your mouse over that text field and scroll the wheel the text in the text field scrolls one line. And i really cant have that, it all works fine if there is no changing of font size but i will also need to change that so is there a solution just to disable scrolling on text field?

In my example I have established root items (item1,item2,item3 and item4) and sub-items underneath them, and I can easily access the values at the sub-level, but I can't figure out how to output the values on the root level, if I use treemenu[0] it doesn't output "item 1" but the values on the sublevel, how can I point to the actual value on the root level? so it would output for example "item 1"?

So I'm coding a maze in Flash using ActionScript 2.0. I'm using a 2D array and with that I will give each point a value, either 1 or 2. I then plan to use modulo and an if else statement to pull a brick movie clip from my library. Here's what I've coded so far with the 2D array. TL;DR version: how do I add more values to the 0th row of an array?[If that's too vague, read on.]What I'm trying to do currently is make a tilemap engine. I have an multidimensional array that is sifted through when the program begins that determines what type of tile is added to the stage which was then put in its appropriate place. These tiles scroll when the player moves.
Now, the problem is, I expect to make huge maps. Putting a large amount of children (tiles) on the stage makes the program incredibly laggy, so to fix this I created another multidimensional array that held the values of the tiles that are currently in the field of vision of the player.
the values in the new array shifts and moves along with the player, gets the children that will be left behind and deletes them. To keep things short, the player would not notice the addition and removal of the tiles, because the tiles are added at the position where the player is currently moving and the tiles that are removed are removed where the player is moving away from.
The issue I am having lies with moving up and down. The addition and removal of tiles follows a very strict process:
1. shift the array that holds tiles in the player's range of vision so that new tile values can be added.
2. add children (tiles), assign their names, add the name to the appropriate place in the array and move the child (tile) to the appropriate place on the stage.
3. Delete the tiles left behind.
4. Remove the names of the children that were deleted from the array.
To move up, I would have to unshift the array (so that all the rows move down one), add the names of the new children(tiles) that will appear directly above the range of view, then delete the children that are named in the last row of the array and pop the last value in the array (which, since this is a multidimensional array, is not one value, but the entire last row of children names). The problem is, after I unshift the array and add a new row with only a single value in it, I can't add more values into the row!
(the name of the array that holds the names of the children in the player's range of view is containmentUnit.)
I have tried these,

i have a built a little interactive map for a client and have a series of movie clips contain contact details and email addresses when each city is clicked upon.I am using the mc tween prototype to alpha them in and out to make it look a bit more slick. The map_mc contains movie clips for each city (with an onClipEvent to populate a field in a pop up with the city name) which in turn contain an invisible button with (on) rollOver, (on)rollOut actions and (on)press actions for displaying the pop up and contact movie clips for each city.I have written a function that resets the email and web address buttons inside each contact movie clip (on)press which works fine:

everything works perfectly apart from the lines in red. The enabled = true is simply not working. I have checked that the path is corrected by substituting _alpha = 30 and the email and web buttons

I trying to populate a combobox from a .php file and return the values of the selection. I have the .php set up to where it outputs something like
&artists=anartist,anartist2,anartist3, etc..they have names..I already have the combobox set up to where it displays

after you click the dropdown arrow..How would I get it to return a the numerical value for the artist (ex: anartist would be "0" since it is first in the list) and put it into a variable so that when it is selected it could be placed into an eval() function to create a variable such as "albumcover0" to be loaded through a function. I have been reading tutorials for hours to no avail.I want a single function to produce the number from the selected artist and place it into a variable, then go through all of the loadImage(for the "album image") etc functions..they will be functions that I have made already previously and call all of them with the number in the called fuctions (ex: loadImage(0)) where "0" is the number derived from the variable out of the combo box.Ive tried tons of tutorials, I think that it has something to do with me using flash mx 2004, and as2 turned on.

I am working on an interactive quiz type game using arrays and multidimensional arrays.
I am trying to make a dynamic textfield say "the current question" + "Sorry, the correct answer is..." + "the second answer in the first string of answers in the array".
I think I am pretty close, but there is an error in the syntax.
Here is the line of code where I try to do this:
questionHolder.question.text=(String (cat4Questions[0]) + "Sorry, the correct answer is "+ String (cat4Answers[0,2]));
I am getting this error:

I have a sort of "presentation" that is divided into frames--each side is on one frame.I want this to be an interactive presentation, so I want the user to have the ability to click on certain underlined blanks, and it reveal the word that goes in that sentence. I also want to be able to populate these field by XML, that way I don't have to constantly keep creating movie clips with text boxes in them--I'd rather just use a few MCs.
There are also cases where there are 2 or 3 interactive words to be clicked on a screen. I've been struggling with the fact that XML doesn't like frames.

I'm trying to make my portfolio XML-driven. What I'm trying to do is similiar to a photogallery. The difference is that I want "sub pictures" to every item in the gallery. Example: If I click on a project name in the portfolio an image should appear. Then I want to be able to browse between different images within that project. When I click on a another project a different set of pictures will be loaded.My XML file looks as exemplified below. I'm using C3S Flash and working in a button. The text on the button is set to 'dynamic' and I'm trying to display an array value in the 'var' field.
Is there any way I can use an array value in a dynamic text field? I can display the entire array by putting the 'menuarray' name into the text 'var' field, but if I try to display a subset of the array like 'menuarray[0][1]' it displays nothing, even though this subset holds a value (it shows up fine in the trace window).
Is there any way to get around creating dozens of variables just to display array items?
