ActionScript 2.0 :: Printing Contents Of List Or Tree UI Component?
May 28, 2008
I have an accordion component that contains 3 list components and 2 tree components...there are all the components from the flash library of components...and I need to print the contents of these 5 "lists"For now I'm concentrating on the lists...then I will worry about how to print the trees with all the nodes expanded...but I can't seem to figure out how to determine how many items are in a list.
I've got a tree component on the stage that the user can add folders and questions to. I need to write the data from the tree into a database as the user adds items and then re-build the tree from the database when the user re-opens the program. This works fine except the client wants the user to be able to delete and move items within the tree.
I'm not sure how I can track the position of items within the tree so that it re-builds the tree (from the database values) in the same order as it was when the user closed the program?
At first, I thought I would just add the getDisplayIndex of the selectedNode, but that changes when you expand or collapse a folder, and it would also mean that I would have to update a number in each database entry any time the user moves a folder or item...
I'm thinking the only way I can get around this and ensure the db tracks the latest treeview is to provide a "Save" button and make the user hit that (instead of hitting the "Accept Changes" button which currently exists for each item & folder and just updates the database on each new entry). With the "Save" button, I could just copy a new database on top of the old one (removing all the unique id indexes) and then write to the new db. Not the end of the world, but it seems more ponderous and less intuitive. Plus, if the user enters hundreds of items, it could take time to write the entire db each time...
Is there a way display the display list in the Tree component. I could parse the display list into xml but then I would not be able to create a reference to the display object.
I'm using a scroll pane component to contain a horizontally scrolling timeline. I'm also setting up a print function, which has worked fine for me in the past (i.e., sans scroll pane). However I find that with the scroll pane, it only wants to print the elements of the scroll pane and not the contents. Is there a simple workaround or other solution for this?
I'm trying to make a Flex Tree Component display the children of a sprite in a hierarchical way. Moreover, dragging the items on the FlexTree would resort and reparent the items. I have special Elements set as Folders. This would allow other elements to be added there as a children by dragging an element on the tree and dropping it there. I have a failed attempt which works, but breaks when I try to add folders. Basically, it fails at reparenting the items by dragging and resorting folders and that Does anyone know of a component or something which can do this, has anyone have created any of this or could anyone give me a clue?
how to populate a list box component located within a seperate mc in my swf with an array... the array comes from a response from a webservice call. I am not currently on the computer with my source code available so lets just use the following....
listdata[i] = the array i want to populate the list box with..... (listdata1, listdata2, listdata3, listdata4, etc. etc.) movieclip1 = the MC within my fla containing the list box component mylist = the actual list component
... just not all that familiar with the format of actionscript when working with objects... using CS3 and as2 btw,
I have an xml file it's structure like down below :
...
I looked for couple of examples It uses Xml attributes to shows as tree components' labels. But I want to show these xml text contents in tree component. But i couldn't find an example how to show as label these xml text contents.
Is there any way to put scroll of tree component in left side of component or creating a custom scrollbar for tree component i asked in many forums but i think all flash designers are dead
I have a XML file with the following content: Code: <?xml version="1.0"?> <schedule> <class> <name>AAA</name> <time>9h30</time>
..... Happens that it actually assumes the correct number of XML elements (2 classes), however, I can only print data on the first container (only the time and name from the first class).
I am using Flash CS3 with Actionscript 3 and outputting an AIR application. I need to be able to list the files in a directory on the users machine, these files will be PDFs and they will be installed along with the application.
The application installs just fine, the pdfs install just fine - how in the world can I make a list show up in my app that has all the pdfs? Oh and they need to be "clickable" so you can open a chosen file.
I am working on an older Flash project created in CS3 ActionScript 2.0 How can I make the pointer cursor change to the hand when hover over a list item?_root.slidePanel.myList'myList' is the list. I have traced out the contents of the List MC and it has a child MC called 'content_mc'. I assumed this was the object containing all of my list items but the only members of this MC I can see (when tracing them out) are 'setRGB' and 'searchKey'.
I have a basic Tree built in Flex. The Tree works fine. I'm attempting to get a list of all of the visible nodes. I know there is a Tree.openItems, but that does not suffice because (for example) if you open all the items in your tree and then close the root, the invisible opened items are still counted.
I have a combobox and list component on the stage. The combobox has 3 selections. How do I get it so that each selection triggers the specific xml file to load into the list component? I can't get them to communicate to each other.
Why I have to press 2 times the arrow key down to get a navigation through the list items in a list component of Flash?
Theres any workaround for this? I have a listener for keyboard event that checks if keyCode is equal to 40 if it is then I use 'stage.focus = list', but I have to press 2 times key arrow down to start navigating through list items.
I've asked this question before but had no answers... so here I go again I have a structure of objects: Top object A has as children (addChild children that is...) one or more objects B_1 to B_n. The B_n may in turn have one (1) associated object A' (Same type as top object, not displayed to begin with). When I click a B_n two things may happen:
1. If it has as associated object a A', put it on the stage (as child to B_n).
2. Otherwise it is a leaf and it does other things.
If '2' happens I want to collapse the tree, that is remove the top and all children of same type from being displayed. I thought a recursive approach should work:
I'm building a top view 2D map, that it's objects are stored on the server. The kind of objects are 10 and might be a photo, label, button, lists, mix of them or labels with tooltips. The component must request the "areas" that are missing on screen. An area is 1000x1000 px and is cached in flex.To move in the map, will be like in google maps (drag-and-drop).I should be able to have another list and move objects from one to another using drag-an-drop on objects. Ex.: I grab an objects from a list and I move it on this map, I release the mouse button and the item is placed there. Now the problem is: I build a custom component for this trying to emulate the item renderer for performance and recyclage, implement drag-and-drop on objects and request the areas that are missing?
or
I extend the List component from spark and I add some features as multiple kind of itemrenderers and use recycle on them. Of course it must be able to request the missing areas on the screen and cache it's data.Maybe create a custom layout is needed too. What I need is something that must be really fluid, so the lighter this component is, the better.
UPDATE: *There will be not any object over another.
*I will not use hitTest on bitmaps because all bitmaps are wrapped in another component,as they, for now are itemrenderers.
Anyway I already begin to do this using a class that extends the SkinnableDataContainer and a custom layout. As the layout is not like a grid, is sparse, random items at diferent points(x, y).How to get the localX and localY, relative to item renderer and not to the Spark List, from a DragEvent in Flex 4?
Just wondering if there is a faster way of obtaining a file name list of a directory's contents than getDirectoryListing? It seems to take FOREVER to load a dir list into an array. My end objective is to populate a .txt file with the names of files in a directory.
By default, the iconFunction of List and Tree return only Class as the icon, which is for embeded images or iconUtility kindly provided by this site http:...... It works very well with pre-created images. But what I really want is to accept a completely runtime generate sprite object, similar to what is done by Legend, with the color changes according to what the current status. I assume I could do something to make the ListBase to accept icon argument other than Class.
Now I have added my tree just below the list and I have saved counting from 10 to 19 in one.xml, 20 to 29 in two.xml and so on in different XML file. I have no clue how to connect the XML containing counting from 10 to 19 as the single node in tree at the selection of label one in list
I have two Lists (components) on stage. The first one (mainList populates from an XML called topics.xml
...
on event handler change, I want to load the second list on the other list component, called subList..It's not loading.. I believe it's because when it reads the data from my topics list, it reads topic1.xml instead of "topic1.xml" ( reads without the quotes). If I unquote line v.list.load("subtopic.xml"), it works, but I need it to be loaded from the XML..
I'm trying to use the tree component in conjunction with a php page I have that produces xml. But I am literally struggling so much its ridiculous*. My php page is printing out this:
I have created a tree diagram using the 'Tree Component' in flash, and have linked it to my XML file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?> <node label = "Sports Club"> <node label = "Ball Games"> <node label = "Tennis" /> <node label = "Soccer"/> <node label = "Bassball"/>
.....
If you haven't noticed yet, the tree diagram is nothing complicated, it branches out as 'ball games' and 'athletic games' with sub categories such as tennis, soccer etc. (or 100 Meter & Hurdles for Athletic sports.) Now I've managed to go this far, BUT, what i'm trying to do is that when the user chooses the subcategory e.g. 'Tennis' from the tree diagram, I need to get text into a blank text-box.
I was wondering if I can change the font style, weight, color, etc of an individual node within MM's tree component. I know you can use setStyle to change all elements, but I want to try to narrow it down to certain nodes. Also on a side note I was wondering if the tree component will render text as html.I am loading the content from an xml file.I was wondering if there is a way to have some of the nodes in the document render bold in the tree component.
Edit: I have found more info on what I would like to do and it involves the use of the CellRenderer API.
get the mousewheel working with my tree component? I have this code - but it doesn't seem to work. hmmmm [AS]var mouseListener:Object = new Object(); mouseListener.onMouseWheel = function(delta) { trace(delta); trace('hello'); } Mouse.addListener(mouseListener);[/AS]
