I have a XML file with the following content:

Happens that it actually assumes the correct number of XML elements (2 classes), however, I can only print data on the first container (only the time and name from the first class).
Printing an MC is easy enough. But I am having trouble printing an MC which has multiple MCs inside of it. They just don't get printed.
I am trying to avoid printAsBitmap.
I am building a map which has different layers on it, all on top of one another, all 700x700px and all movieclips. I have a print button (PrintUp) which sends the movieclips to be printed, however when I print, they don't sit on top of one another, they come out separately. How can I get them to print on top of each other like they are in the swf?
The two movieclips are "Background" and "Grass"
Both 700x700 and exactly the same X&Y.

I have an accordion component that contains 3 list components and 2 tree components...there are all the components from the flash library of components...and I need to print the contents of these 5 "lists"For now I'm concentrating on the lists...then I will worry about how to print the trees with all the nodes expanded...but I can't seem to figure out how to determine how many items are in a list.

I am now working on a game, that already had all its graphic interface designed and I am doing all the programming. Basically what I have to do is get some movie clips (randomly) from a different scene and print them on another scene in a designated area (but also randomly). I am not sure the best way to explain my problem, so I made a sketch of how the scene should look. [URL] So basically I want to print the movie clips on the black space, as if they were the red squares. But the movie clips are stored in a different scene in the same project. So I want to know two things: how do I get the movie clips from the different scene? And how do I print those movie clips on the specific area?
View 1 RepliesI have a sprite that has a scrollbar that uses the scrollrect feature. The sprite has several bitmaps and textfields. When I print the outer sprite (The one with the scrollrect) all of the textfields outside the scrollrect are cut after the first line. In case anyone else is having problems with printing sprites with scrollrects using the bitmap printing option fixes and prints most of the stuff in the sprite. Excluding all textfields outside of the scrollrect. This however can be fixed partially by embedding your fonts.
So now the only problem left is printing multiline textfields that are outside the scrollrect. P.S. Imho the scrollrect should have nothing to do with the printed area of the sprite because the printJob.addPage has a printarea parameter.
I am trying to print my Flash work out to an EPS/Illustrator compatible file so that it can be opened in illustrator and printed.Used to be able to use the Apple LaserWriter 16/600 PS printer driver but I am unable to find it anywhere. Is anyone else using any other updated drivers/techniques?

After I pop in the code, I go to test the page on my Mac locally and I get this error.

And on a Windows machine, nothing even happens.
Obviously I think its not working because I am testing it locally, because the minute I upload it to my server, it works. The only problem is, I need it to work locally because it is going to be viewed from a CD not through the net.
Is there another way for my Flash Button to print the entire HTML page?
I have a combobox and list component on the stage. The combobox has 3 selections. How do I get it so that each selection triggers the specific xml file to load into the list component? I can't get them to communicate to each other.

View 13 RepliesApparently it's relatively simple in AS3 using a stage mouseevent.MOUSE_OVER listener, but I need an answer in AS2, which doesn't have the mousevent listener. Is the only way to get a list of objects under the mouse cursor, to do a recursive list of every object in the file and do a hitTest to get true/false on each? There must be a simpler way, right? I've seen a bunch of comments on forums that say "use hitTest", but hitTest just returns true or false, and not with the name of an object you hit, so maybe there's a way to use it that I'm not considering?

I have an exhibitor list that loads from xml...and I have a booth layout that loads from a separate xml...I have two arrays set up so that the rented booths are stored first, and the exhibitors are stored in a separate array side by side...
if you click on an exhibitor in the list you will see the associated booth highlight in the mainwindow (and minimap too)...however if you notice, there are multiple entries in the list for some exhibitors, this is because they may rent several booths...I want to condense the exhibitor list to have one entry per exhibitor, but have the entry control all their booths, so if you click an exhibitor with 2 booths both of them would light up even though there was only one entry in the list...is this even possible with the list component provided by flash?

I have a row of movieclips that I need to drag horizontally. there could be up to 300 clips. Each clip is 100 px wide. Each clip has different content/text and animations. the viewable area will be the stage.[code]...
I need to create a navigation scheme with a dynamic list of movieclips that cycles, the user being able to cycle through the list left or right seamlessly.For example, say there are 12 items in the list, and at any given time three of them are to be displayed, with the center one being the focus/selected item. If the user clicks on the center/focus item, it takes them to a page, no trouble. If they click on the one to the left of the focus item, the list slides right, with the clicked one becoming the new center, focus item.
So, now say that the three visible items are 10, 11, and 12 in our array. If the user clicks on number 12, the list will slide left, with number 12 becoming the focus, and the goal would be to have item number 1 become the new, right-most item in the display - thus, the visible three would be 11, 12, 1. If the user then clicked on one, the cycle would continue, making number 1 the focus and the visible items would be 12, 1, 2. This should work seamlessly at both extremes of the list.
So in one instance, I have created a single movieclip that contains all of the items in the list, plus four extra at the end, to allow the appearance of seamlessness; when the user got to the end, the entire clip jumped to the start. This works, more or less, but it's clunky and I need to find a better way.

View 1 RepliesI've created a multi-file interactive Flash "demo" for a client. It's very much like a website (though he's not using it as a website) in the way that it is laid out in that there is a main index page which can then direct you to different product categories, which you can click on to see. Each "page" contains product (or product category) information, photos, block diagrams, etc. There is nothing animated in the Flash.
My client also wants to be able to set it up so that the demo runs automatically from a configurable XML file. My ActionScript skills are pretty limited, but I've been able to using ActionScript 3 to load and read the XML file. Using a 'for' loop, I am able to read the XML file and return the path of each Flash file and the duration that each file should be displayed (my client requested that he be able to configure the duration of each page as well).
I've set up a loader for each movie clip and a timer for the display duration. Unfortunately, the thing that is throwing me off is that when I attempt to load the movie clip (as the last item in the for loop), it reads the entire XML file, returns all of the clips and durations (I'm using trace to see this) before it loads the movie clip. As a result, the only movie clip that is loaded is the last one read from the XML file.
As I said, I'm not very good at ActionScript, so everything that I've managed to cobble together has been from internet tutorials.

I removed the timer event because it, like everything else was getting repeated before anything got loaded, so I wanted to figure out out to get the clip loader (mcLoader) to load the movie clip for each file before I figured out where to put the time to ensure that each clip is displayed for the appropriate duration. I suspect that the timer event needs to occur in the 'playClip' function, but would take advice on that as well.

I have to make a list every document linked in a multiple .fla files. I can pull them up doing a find for .pdf but I can't figure out how to copy the links from the results field. Each file links to 1000+ pdfs, so i'd like to avoid doing this one at a time. Is there a way to export the results of the find function to a .xml or .txt file?
