I created the attached but it needs ALOT of work. Didn't know if anyone has seen anyone else that has done this yet.
Im in the final steps of my Flash game, now I have to take care of the music/sound.And, I figure out that I'd need to reproduce several sounds simultaneously, sounds like gun shots, explosions, screams, etc, however, these sounds are short, < 1 seconds.So, how many sounds can I reproduce at the same time?, and what would be the best approach (what class to use, how, tips, etc) to achieve this?, considering my situation.
View 2 RepliesI've used jqUploader for a while but I find that it will occasionally fail to work on certain browsers on certain machines or will not work properly when using HTTP Basic authentication. I've tired of trying to get this to work properly and am considering switching to another (hopefully) less buggy uploader. I've looked into Uploadify and it so far seems promising. Have you experience with any alternatives to jqUploader including possibly Uploadify? If so, what are your thoughts and recommendations?I would prefer that configuring any such uploader require knowledge of JavaScript and/or jQuery, and that it not be totally reliant on any one specific back-end technology. Built-in PHP compatibility is a plus.
View 1 Repliesi want to make a line with mouse movement and with bnlur effect i also want to save those point to reproduce that, i know how to make simple line with mouse and also able to reproduce it with the save point but not able to do blur effect with it
View 1 RepliesI was just looking through some templates at template monster when I cam accross this one: [URL]
how on earth did they do that effect where the string is attached to the mouse?
I'd like the words in the string to type out in the allotted time, but for some reason my function appends the first and last letter of anything in the string, so "Hello?" becomes "ello." This is not affected if I pad the text in the string with spaces, i.e. " Hello? " Nor does this work if I start count i at -1, not 0.
import flash.utils.Timer;import flash.events.TimerEvent;
var str:String = "Hello?";
var i:int = -1;var delay:int = 720%str.length;
var timer:Timer = new Timer(delay);
timer.start();
timer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER,gotime);
function gotime(e:TimerEvent){
textbox_txt.appendText(str.charAt(i));i++;
if (i>=str.length){timer.stop();}}
I have made a pixel font using an array and have made it so it scatters from the mouse, (magnetic effect).Example at BladeMonkey Test Page.However if i make this string longer it slows down quite severly.
View 1 Repliescheck out: [URL] The typewriter effect here is very fast, much faster than when I use onenterframe to produce the effect. Does anyone know how this is done?
View 14 RepliesI really like the text effect Pom used in the footer contest, and would like to use the same grid-type method of creating mc letters but with a different effect. i understand how to change the parameters and shapes of the letters, but can't seem to figure out which piece of code is purely for the explosion effect. basically, i want the letters but with the 'Repel' effect from[URL] here is Pom's AS:
[AS]
cellSize=3;
radius=10;
damp=.85;

and here is the .fla using the repel effect using pre-made mc:
It's a bit of decoration to go behind a logo. When the dMove var is commented out I get the appropriate line of squares fading in and out at random spots along the x = 78 axis, but when introduced nothing appears at all...

is there a way to change the code and create attraction effect instead of push effect?i tried but without success...!
View 1 Repliesin a nut shell I have found this wicked piece of open source actionscript.
It responds to the cursor and was wondering if it is posible to modify the x_position and y_position actions and make the action respond to a moving object???? (a movieclip with a variable name)
is this to complicated to attempt or is it doable??
ACTIONSCRIPT
Code:
//
var rows, colm:Number;

I want to be able to make a movie clip (that acts as a button) so the roll over effect finishes before the roll off effect is triggered. Like if a marker circles a button, i want the circling animation to stop before the roll off effects happens. Anyone know how to do this.
View 2 RepliesIn Actionscript and Adobe Flex, I'm using a pattern and regexp (with the global flag) with the string.match method and it works how I'd like except when the match returns multiple occurrences of the same word in the text. In that case, all the matches for that word point only to the index for the first occurrence of that word. For example, if the text is "cat dog cat cat cow" and the pattern is a search for cat*, the match method returns an array of three occurrences of "cat", however, they all point to only the index of the first occurrence of cat when i use indexOf on a loop through the array. I'm assuming this is just how the string.match method is. I want to find the specific indices of every occurrence of a match, even if it is of a word that was already previously matched.

But I keep getting an "Error #2030: End of file was encountered." This is (probably) because the class I'm serializing is too big for the "String" object type in AS3. Is there a limitless object for storing an array of characters (or better yet binary), or am I going to have to make my own class? (like one with an array of strings)
I am trying to include double quotes in a string but logic says it would just close the string. I know in html you would use something like ". In flash...I havent the slightest.Anyone know how to go about this?
View 1 RepliesI have a String variable in my flex (flash builder 4) application containing CSV data. I need to allow the user to download this data to a local file. For example, giving them a "csv" button to click and it might present them with a save file dialog (and I would be sending the contents of my string variable).Is this possible / how ?I am using the ResuableFX component for the datagrid to csv. This the code I ended up with that works to save the string to a text file for the user (in a web browser):
var dg2CSV:DataGrid2CSV = new DataGrid2CSV();
dg2CSV.includeHeader=true;
dg2CSV.target=adgEncounters;
[code]......
I really don't understand why this won't work? I've made a test which sends some POST data to a script on my page which works fine.[code]

View 1 RepliesBasically I'm trying to output the contents of an XML document into a dynamic text field (as loaded - not just its node values and content - the entire thing - into a variable called _root.log). The text field is set to show the variable value of _root.log.This is the actionscript...

I get following Error when trying to pass variables via URLRequestMethod.POST;

Is there a method for string URL Encoding?

Im playing around with the last.fm api... Specifically the "getLovedtracks" call.... [URL] This is a weird one that I have never come across... The above call requires a username to return a track listing so if I hard code the username into my class like this.... var username:string = "aidanmack" No problems the call works... if I make that username equal to a dynamic text box string that has "aidanamck" typed into it..
so something like... var username:string = mystage.textbox.text
the last.fm api wont except this... I get user does not exist But if I check the call with the charles proxy Flash is defo sending the username "aidanmack" So I wonder if its to do with have how last.fms api interprets the string?
I need to be able to pass some variables FROM flash and append it to the end of my address. I assumed that if I used LoadVars, I can append the vars to the end of the string like this:
ActionScript Code:
send_btn.onRelease = function ()
{
var my_lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars();

I am sending a string to asp from flash that looks like this;
[CODE].....
The problem is when asp (probably php too) reads this string, it reads it like this
[CODE]....
Now this sucks, is there a way to encrypt my flash string so asp will read the string corectly? I know asp is url encoding the flash string, but this bit of info does not seem to help.
