pictures2.php is working cos I just check so by rite the variables loaded should change.. but somehow each time I check those variables in myPictures.onLoad, the variables are always the same.

I'm trying to pass a variable out of the 'XML.onLoad = function() {', but the variable keeps coming up undefined. This is what my actionscipt looks like:

I've created a multi-framed flash file that's calling multiple variables from an external php (text) file. I'm using an onload command to do this and for some reason the variables seem to "disappear" once I leave the first frame (where the onload and load commands are)I'm figuring that my problem has to do with 'variables scope'. I've read the article on this site but I don't know actionscript well enough to proceed.I ultimately want to do away with using multiple frames by using multidemsional arrays and for...next loops, but this is what I have to work with (for now). I'm going crazy trying to get THIS to work.

Because the swf_loader are mp3 player and if i change page wihout having press the stop button first the music is still playing. I have try to just add swf_loader.unloadMovie(); on every other keyframe but it doesnt work. i guess i have to find out where this swf_loader exist/is included right?
I have a class with a XML object in it. In one of the class' methods, I tell the XML object to load a document. Before I do that, I set up the onLoad event to call one of the class' other methods. The problem is that in that handler function, I can't seem to access any of my class' data. If I try to use the "this" pointer, I'm getting the XML object not my class.

i have a list cranked out from an XML file (movieclips attached to empty clip). currently it loads as the SWF launches. i can't get it to scroll because the variables won't travel outside the xml.onLoad process. what i'm wondering is once i bury this process into a button activated function, will i be able to access the list's properties? (sweet Buddha i hope that made sense...)
it seems the fundamental principle i'm struggling with is var/scope issues: how and where variables/properies can travel. i can't seem to find an explanation that makes sense from a C++ perspective. everytime i think i get it, something like this kicks me in the nuts. for those who want to dig, i'm using Kirupa's custom scrollbar modified (seemingly unsuccessfully) to my own setup. if you can recommend a different one more suited to this sort of thing, i'm open to it. if this doesn't make sense, i can attach the FLA but its a bit of a read and i'm in need of an answer before Thursday. methinks once this project is done, i'm going to hire someone for a week to fill in the gaps in my knowledge!

When i test the movie in flash itself everything works fine, but when i open the movie in IE or the stand alone flash player, details_txt and length_txt are both empty.

I am loading an xml configuration file and based upon values obtained from it, I am connecting to an xml socket in the server.
But I can't register for socket.onConnect Function now. I could do it in my old cold in which I didn't use a configuration file. The configuration values are loaded properly. It seems the issue is in the way, socket.OnConnect function is registered.

I'm embedding a flash object in an html page and calling windows.onload to initialize the Flash movie. The problem is that the windows.onload does not wait for the Flash object to completely load. Is there way to make sure that the Flash object has fully loaded?

I am writting an image gallery that loads one intial xml file named galleries.xml.From this point each xml node loads a XMl file for that gallery that holds all the images.The problem arises in the fact that to do this I need a onload function within an onload function.Onload functions dont accept parameters so I can pass down the variable that shows what loop the gallery loop is on as I need that in the function that holds the images.
View 4 RepliesI am using php to read a file (specified by a cookie on the users machine) with the function readfile(). The file I am reading is an actionscript 3 flash file that depends on a configuration file appended to the url to function properly. Ex: [URL]. When I use readfile - the headers are set properly and the swf is returned to the browser which then runs it. I have discovered that using this method the config file (CONFIG_URL) has to be appended to the php file's url to be read properly by the swf - as the swf considers the path to the php file it's own. This is fine when these are the only two elements involved - but when loading the php>read(swf) combination into another swf - the 'read' swf returns a url that is null (using this.root.loaderInfo.url) and therefore fails to execute properly as there is no config file (CONFIG_URL). How can I load in a swf file from a php page (using readfile, fopen, whatever) and pass in $get parameters?
View 1 RepliesI have a .swf file that has all of its assets loaded through xml to make the file modular. However, when I try moving the published .swf file to a different directory, I need to bring the xml file and all the assets along as extra baggage.
Is there any way to create a .swf that can load these assets during publish, and retain them? I'm currently trying to make another .swf, load it into that one, and using Adobe Air to update it with everything loaded, but I don't think this is the right direction.
I would prefer to avoid using a wrapper, but if there is no other option I will look into it.
I am working on a project with several collaborators who edit the project through XML files that are read into the flash file. The final swf file will be distributed across thousands of websites, and we are not allowed to include any other files with the swf. Is there any way to read in the XML, compile the swf with all of that information intact and then not have to have those XML files with the swf to run it?
View 2 RepliesI use an application which uses flash cookie to store some important information. This information is critical and should not be deleted. But I have observed that the flash cookie or the shared local object is getting deleted under the following situations. When the local history(including cookies) are deleted by the browser. When flash is upgraded in the system.
This is adversely affecting my application. Please let me know, if there is a way to forcefully retain the 'shared local object' by placing some kind of lock on it. It will be better if this can done programmatically.
In any case I had a question about exporting. You see I imported a flv file (which was converted from a wmv) into Flash Prof CS5, when I did this I got a nice interface to choose a player control skin for the movie. However when I export the movie the player controls are no longer present.I'm doing this simply so I can embed the swf on a website and wish the user to have some control over it.

I have a frame on my movie that will have two input boxes where you can write in team names, and then have a button that will go to the next frame where the games is. When the movie goes to that frame I would like the text that was written in the input box in the previous frame to be retained and used in a dynamic text box to display the team names/s.

He had someone do all the typing and all that in word, with formating and I went through and changed text colors where needed, and now when I'm trying to put it all into flash, it doesn't take any formatting at all. No indents, none of the bold settings, and none of the color settings. I really can't re-do all of the formatting, it would take ages and ages. There must be some way to get this formatting into flash from word (actually using a free program called bean, because i can't even get a copy/paste from word to work at all)
View 3 RepliesI want to load it always to fill the whole screen but to retain the aspect ratio. So far I am able to stretch it to 100% of the screen but the aspect ratio is not preserved. The instance name of the mc in which I load the background image is "back".

I have a for loop that I'm trying to display multiple popups with.
I seem to have multiple popups appearing on the screen, but after I'm done and close the top popup all the buttons on the others below it seem to stop functioning.
How can I make all the popups retain their functionality after the one before is closed?

I have a test that I made for work. What I would like to do is make my radio button or my checkbox state hold true when I hit the back button.Right now I have 40 question and answer with checkboxes and radio buttonsm using the flash quiz Component Inspector tool. I know its not the best way to go, but this is my first time making a test for work. Once I learn the basic I will move on to better test.OK back to the problem at hand. As soon as I move forward to the next frame everything works great. But when I move back the radio button or checkbox state is not like I set it before I move on. It is set back to its null value which mean I just lost that data input in that frame. Well like I said I have 40 Qs so going back and not having that checkbox or radio stay true is not good for the user. Do I need to �selectedData property? If so how do I go about doing this?And the buttons have this code on them.
