Actionscript 3 :: Retain Xml Data In A .swf?

I have a .swf file that has all of its assets loaded through xml to make the file modular. However, when I try moving the published .swf file to a different directory, I need to bring the xml file and all the assets along as extra baggage.
Is there any way to create a .swf that can load these assets during publish, and retain them? I'm currently trying to make another .swf, load it into that one, and using Adobe Air to update it with everything loaded, but I don't think this is the right direction.
I would prefer to avoid using a wrapper, but if there is no other option I will look into it.

I am using php to read a file (specified by a cookie on the users machine) with the function readfile(). The file I am reading is an actionscript 3 flash file that depends on a configuration file appended to the url to function properly. Ex: [URL]. When I use readfile - the headers are set properly and the swf is returned to the browser which then runs it. I have discovered that using this method the config file (CONFIG_URL) has to be appended to the php file's url to be read properly by the swf - as the swf considers the path to the php file it's own. This is fine when these are the only two elements involved - but when loading the php>read(swf) combination into another swf - the 'read' swf returns a url that is null (using this.root.loaderInfo.url) and therefore fails to execute properly as there is no config file (CONFIG_URL). How can I load in a swf file from a php page (using readfile, fopen, whatever) and pass in $get parameters?

I am working on a project with several collaborators who edit the project through XML files that are read into the flash file. The final swf file will be distributed across thousands of websites, and we are not allowed to include any other files with the swf. Is there any way to read in the XML, compile the swf with all of that information intact and then not have to have those XML files with the swf to run it?

I use an application which uses flash cookie to store some important information. This information is critical and should not be deleted. But I have observed that the flash cookie or the shared local object is getting deleted under the following situations. When the local history(including cookies) are deleted by the browser. When flash is upgraded in the system.
This is adversely affecting my application. Please let me know, if there is a way to forcefully retain the 'shared local object' by placing some kind of lock on it. It will be better if this can done programmatically.

In any case I had a question about exporting. You see I imported a flv file (which was converted from a wmv) into Flash Prof CS5, when I did this I got a nice interface to choose a player control skin for the movie. However when I export the movie the player controls are no longer present.I'm doing this simply so I can embed the swf on a website and wish the user to have some control over it.

What I thought was going to be easy was far from.I have several pages on a flash project that have buttons nestled in a movieclip.The seemingly simple question is how do I get one to stay in the down state after rolling off and retaining that state until another is clicked.This is the code I've generated so far that disables the button after clicked and enables when another is clicked, however it doesn't stay in the down state, after roll out they revert back.

I have a frame on my movie that will have two input boxes where you can write in team names, and then have a button that will go to the next frame where the games is. When the movie goes to that frame I would like the text that was written in the input box in the previous frame to be retained and used in a dynamic text box to display the team names/s.

I'm working for a client that needs me to put a lot of information into flash. He had someone do all the typing and all that in word, with formating and I went through and changed text colors where needed, and now when I'm trying to put it all into flash, it doesn't take any formatting at all. No indents, none of the bold settings, and none of the color settings. I really can't re-do all of the formatting, it would take ages and ages. There must be some way to get this formatting into flash from word (actually using a free program called bean, because i can't even get a copy/paste from word to work at all)

I want to load it always to fill the whole screen but to retain the aspect ratio. So far I am able to stretch it to 100% of the screen but the aspect ratio is not preserved. The instance name of the mc in which I load the background image is "back".

I have a for loop that I'm trying to display multiple popups with.
I seem to have multiple popups appearing on the screen, but after I'm done and close the top popup all the buttons on the others below it seem to stop functioning.
How can I make all the popups retain their functionality after the one before is closed?

I have a test that I made for work. What I would like to do is make my radio button or my checkbox state hold true when I hit the back button.Right now I have 40 question and answer with checkboxes and radio buttonsm using the flash quiz Component Inspector tool. I know its not the best way to go, but this is my first time making a test for work. Once I learn the basic I will move on to better test.OK back to the problem at hand. As soon as I move forward to the next frame everything works great. But when I move back the radio button or checkbox state is not like I set it before I move on. It is set back to its null value which mean I just lost that data input in that frame. Well like I said I have 40 Qs so going back and not having that checkbox or radio stay true is not good for the user. Do I need to �selectedData property? If so how do I go about doing this?And the buttons have this code on them.

I've just been called onto a bug in an application that I didn't build.We have a master application, running at 40fps, which loads .swf components with embedded movies in.Last week, all the videos started playing too fast.The videos are rendered to .flv at 25fps.Is there a way to enforce that embedded videos retain their native frame-rate?

My original movie is 800x600 and my external swf is 700x525... I'm using the following script on a keyframe... loadMovieNum("123.swf", 1); ... and under normal circumstances this would work fine... however... I need the 700x525 external swf to retain its size in the center of the 800x600 original movie... right now it's edge to edge and showing what's going on 'offstage' in the external swf! What scripting am I missing? I'm using Flash 8 on a Mac.

I never realized that fl.getDocumentDOM().selection doesn't retain the selection order... <sniff>. I was hoping to build relationships based on the order. I guess I took if for granted that tools like Maya and Max store the selection buffer in order of what was selected. I got a music portfolio web site running PHP, MySQL and Flash. There's a page showing all the artists my client worked for and when you click on a song title, this title is passed as a variable to a PHP page then to a Flash page. The Flash page contains an actionscript music player which then looks for the right audio file in the database and plays the song. Everything works great except for the dynamic text field which displays the song title. If the song title contains an apostrophe or a single quote, the Flash dynamic text field then shows the apostrophe.[code]

Im trying to use dynamic SQL tables on my PHP server so I need to pass the table name to the PHP script. I don't understand why the Data Management system that sets up CRUD won't allow this extra parameter. It says it can only have one input: item. I can get all records, but when I try to create, update, or delete I get an error.
Or is there another way I can pass the tablename variable to the php file before I call any functions?

Im new to placing external data into Flash. I just got CS3 and Im trying to use Flash to dynamically load XML data via a FlashVars call in the HTML.

I'm trying to read some data in from a sql source, some of which contains double quotes embedded in the text. I know I can strip the doublequotes, but don't want to go that route if I can avoid it. I've tried replacing to double quotes with hex codes before passing the text via parameter to my flash file, but the text string always cuts off at the hex code, the same as if the double quote were present in the string. In flex 3 I have a hierarchical data structure. I would like to display the content of it in a tree. My problem is that I have nodes which data calculated from children nodes. How to structure the hierarchy to make automatic changes to those parent nodes, if their children's data changed? For example:
Every node has a warning flag. If some of the children warning flag changed to true, then the parent warning flag should change automatically set to true. A node integer field is the sum of the children integer fields, and if any of the children changes, the parent integer field "calculates" the sum immediately. Is there an easy solution wit good structuring changes happen automatically, or I have to make some custom functions?

I've got a Gridcolumn in a Datagrid (Spark). The Column's dataprovider is a Number value that gets updated via Binding.Now, without an item renderer the cell displays the correct values.If I set an item renderer, I can't access the values in this renderer.My renderer looks like this, so nothing really do here (for now) but to trace the value, but the value is always NaN.
