I wrote a small code where in I used send() method of LoadVar object, it sends the message but it reloads the php page which I do not want it to do. Im trying to send variables from my HTML page to flash, in order to control the location of movie clips. This is what I have.

*I have also added the "?sectionheader=charts" to the EMBED line.

*This is set on the first frame.
The theory is that flash will read the variable and come up with something like:
charts._x = 10;
charts._y = 290;
..................but, ofcourse it doesnt!!!
I have been able to set text of textfields and event traget frame Labels in similar ways, but this will not work..

View 3 RepliesI have a site the runs in flash. IE7 will not reload the vars in flash, the vars set by flash in the swf. when the page is reloaded. The thing that bugs me out is refreshing the page actually refreshed the page. The flash started how it was supposed to except the variables in flash didn't reset.This only happens when the "Temporary Internet Files" settings in IE is set to "automatic". But works how it should when "Everytime I visit The Page" is checked.

View 6 RepliesI have a flash header that receives random text from a database through a PHP page. I'm using the loadVariables function to bring in the first random text and that works fine. I then have a button that should access the PHP again and retrieve another random text set from the database (once again using the loadVariables function).
Whenever I use the loadVariables function on the button to renew the random text, it brings up the same text over and over again. When I use loadVariablesNum it works, but opens up a blank page with the output of the variables (getURL also works, opening up a blank page).
Is there a way for me to use the loadVariablesNum without having the page popup with the variables printed out? Or better yet, is there a way to just use the loadVariables to renew the info?
I've seen a site a while back that as you went through it it would change the url without reloading the page/swf. I want to know how do you build a Flash banner and buttons and as they the movie plays or they click on buttons have it change the url and the html text but leave the swf playing? Can this be achieved without too much hassle or will it require advanced coding?

What I want the SWF to do is play from the beginning when someone hits the index.php file and gotoAndStop(234) when someone goes to a sub-page (like contact.htm).What I did first was:

i am working on a flash website and i have for the first time made everything dynamically loading from outside of the SWF to reduce the file size. I have a text file which is dynamically loaded into a text box, which i have defined in a variable called "textfile". I want to reload the movieclip on the click of a button and at the same time change the variable for the text file to be opened into the text box. so as i click content, the variable changes to content and the movieclip reloads, showing content.txt in the text box

I have a banner on my site that opens popup into another window, but I need to close sound on the site that is open at another browser. Easiest way to solve my problem (descripted below) is to navigate from one button to two pages, other is popup and other should reload the page again.

I have one page that is build up with separate flash shows. Including one that has sound on it. Easiest way to outclude the sound is to reload page without including the php/flash file where the sound is. (yeah, I know this sounds really confusing, but this is how the page is build).
So now I need a button that opens new popup and on the same time reloads the site where the banner is.
I have 6 variables that load into 6 different dynamic text boxes. They all load fine when I load them, but only the first one updates after 6 seconds. I have them all set to update after 6 seconds. Here is the code that is working fine followed by the code that isn't. I'm using CS5.5
