ActionScript 3.0 :: Seamlessly Queuing Audio In MovieClips

Mar 3, 2010

So I'm currently charged with making a karaoke-style app which displays lyrics on-screen synced with an audio track. I'd prefer not to have one massive timeline for each track so I've cut the audio into sections (verses & choruses) and put each one on the timeline of separate MovieClips so I can sync the lyrics manually.

I store each MC in an array in my MainPlayer class, which listens for an Event dispatched from the last frame of each MC, removes it and then adds the next one and runs its play() method. There's an audible gap in between which at first thought might be due to using .mp3s so I switched to .wavs and it's still there.

Internet Explorer 7 - IE7, Page Refresh Not Reloading Flash Vars?

Nov 4, 2009

I have a site the runs in flash. IE7 will not reload the vars in flash, the vars set by flash in the swf. when the page is reloaded. The thing that bugs me out is refreshing the page actually refreshed the page. The flash started how it was supposed to except the variables in flash didn't reset.This only happens when the "Temporary Internet Files" settings in IE is set to "automatic". But works how it should when "Everytime I visit The Page" is checked.

Html :: Getting Videos To Play Seamlessly On A Webpage?

Oct 30, 2010

I have a mov file that's 157 megabytes. I try running it on my page within a javascript scroller animation and the animation is very choppy and in fact I used css to simulate a mask but the thing doesn't get masked, probably do to the sluggishness of whole page, the page never fully loads, and the movie file makes it nearly impossible to scroll through the page. The file is just too huge. I currently have it embedded as such:

<a href="#">
<object class="im" classid="clsid:02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B" codebase="http://www.apple.com/qtactivex/qtplugin.cab" height="286" width="655">
<param name="src" value="why_eating_dry_fruit_is_unhealthy.MOV">

[code]....

1) Should I convert the mov to swf - that is, is swf a more compatible and appropriate format for seamless integration in html web page?

2) Whichever I choose, how do I reduce the file size - like on youtube where the videos run seamlessly? I plan on using javascript to scroll through a gallery of videos, so I need the videos to not bog down the page.

3) Also, a lot of sites with galleries of videos have an icon that indicates "click to play". Is that part of the video itself or can I just create an image and then when clicked on, the video plays?

I do have Adobe Flash CS4 Professional, if that matters. And if mov file is more suitable, then how can I reduce its file size?

Flash :: Audio Player That Can Play Binary Audio Streams?

Apr 13, 2011

My server is streaming binary audio data (mostly mp3 files) to a client (a browser). This client stores the audio data in memory.

What I'm looking for is a flash audio player that I can input the binary audio data so that it can play the audio file.

Preferably, the flash client is merely a bridge to Javascript so that I can handle everything in Javascript and simply use Flash's audio features, but this is not a requirement.

Prevent SWF From Reloading When Changing HTML Page?

Mar 24, 2009

I've seen a site a while back that as you went through it it would change the url without reloading the page/swf. I want to know how do you build a Flash banner and buttons and as they the movie plays or they click on buttons have it change the url and the html text but leave the swf playing? Can this be achieved without too much hassle or will it require advanced coding?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Preventing Swf From Reloading On Page Refresh?

Sep 19, 2011

Flash CS5, CS4
Actionscript 2

What I want the SWF to do is play from the beginning when someone hits the index.php file and gotoAndStop(234) when someone goes to a sub-page (like contact.htm).What I did first was:

<CODE>
function checkSO() {
var SO = SharedObject.getLocal("siteSO");
if (SO.data.visitedAlready != undefined) {

[code]....

And that worked in the sense of no cookie-it loads and plays the swf from the beginning. If

there is a cookie it starts from frame 234.

As it sits now as long as the cookie exist in the TIF everytime they return to my page it will not play the opening animation it will just jump to then end even on the index.php.

Someone else suggested:
<CODE>
import flash.external.*;
var currentURL:String = String(ExternalInterface.call("window.location.hre f.toString"));

[code]....

I just don't know what string (I think) to put in the /** ...flush.. **/ part

Flashvars To Stop Movie Reloading On Page Refresh

May 13, 2011

I have a flash banner on every page in my site. I want it to continue playing rather than reloading when users change pages. Ive read that this can be achieved using flashvars.

I have this on frame 1 of my fla file now:
var mySharedObject:SharedObject = SharedObject.getLocal("displayCookie");
if(mySharedObject.data.displayed == true){
gotoAndPlay(currentFrame);
trace("cookie found");
[Code] ....

But I don't know how to give the currentFrame the value it had at the time the page was refreshed. How do I put that in there?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Navigatin To Double URL (popup And Reloading The Page)

May 12, 2010

I have a banner on my site that opens popup into another window, but I need to close sound on the site that is open at another browser. Easiest way to solve my problem (descripted below) is to navigate from one button to two pages, other is popup and other should reload the page again.

[Code]...

I have one page that is build up with separate flash shows. Including one that has sound on it. Easiest way to outclude the sound is to reload page without including the php/flash file where the sound is. (yeah, I know this sounds really confusing, but this is how the page is build).

So now I need a button that opens new popup and on the same time reloads the site where the banner is.

Flash :: Player Keeps Playing Audio After Leave Page?

May 31, 2009

I deployed a website a couple of days ago which is written entirely in Flash.  On one of the pages there is a video which plays in the Flash Player.  I have noticed that when I leave the video playing and select a button to take me to another page, the other page comes up but the audio keeps playing from the prior page. Worse yet, if I go back to the page with the Flash Player, it now relaods again and there are two audio tracks.  Can someone tell me how this code is solved?  There must be some Actionscript 3.0, which I'm using, which kills the player whenever you enter a different page?

Flash 9 :: Audio Breaking When More Than 15 Movies On Page. Revision 124?

Sep 22, 2008

I've been using these flash mp3 buttons, Wimpy Buttons, from [URL] for playing audio samples of cd tracks on a website for a record label. If there's more than 15 of them on a page, the audio breaks and won't play from any of them in any browser except for IE. I've noticed this in revisions 124 and 115 of Flash 9. I downgraded to revision 47, and it restored the functionality. I've tested this on multiple computers. Some XP and some Vista. On Macs it seems to be working fine with revision 124 in different browsers. I've also noticed this problem on other websites that are using various different Flash movies for playing audio--when there's more than 15 Flash movies on the page, the audio breaks.

Audio - Same Flash File (.swf) Downloaded Multiple Times On A Page

Jun 17, 2010

I have a page that has a table with each row corresponding to an audio file. The last cell in each row embeds a simple flash audio player. The problem is that the flash file for the player is being downloaded for each row separately and as soon as rows go beyond 40-50 it crashes the browser.

I tried using different players (1pixelout, flash-mp3-player) and the problem is still there, so its not a player specific issue.

Is there any way to cache the player so that it is only downloaded once?

Flash :: FLVPlayback Component Won't Seamlessly Loop

May 19, 2010

Everything I've tried so far with a FLVPlayback component to seemlessly loop a progressively-downloaded 15 second video has failed. There's always a split-second pause when it's time to loop. For the scenario, embedding video in a flash project is not an option, and the split-second pause is unacceptable. I've tried setting autorewind to true and handling autorewind event fired by FLVplayback. I've tried watching the playhead of the flvplayer for when It gets upwards of 99.5 percent done and seeking to 0. My latest solution involves having two VideoPlayer instances with the same source behind the FLVPlayback component and toggling between them when it's time to loop, and there is still a seem between the end and beginning. I've tested the video in quicktime to make sure it's not an artifact of the video.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash Can't Really Loop Mp3s Seamlessly

Nov 17, 2004

so Macromedia says Flash can't really loop mp3s seamlessly, and suggests importing WAV files. But if you're using AS to load an external sound at runtime, this is not possible. So I ask you, coding geniuses, is there a work-around to the silence that Flash adds to the beginning (end?) of an mp3 file, thus causing it to loop incorrectly (I've already tried adding a decimal to the secondsOffset and it sounds awful).

ActionScript 3.0 :: Play / Stop Button - Current Audio File To Play The Next One

I have also injected a SoundMixer.stopAll(); to ensure if you click between both buttons that it will stop the current audio file to play the next one. My problem is when I select the 2nd button for the first time everything seems to be working...it's when I attempt to click on the first button again, that it will require 2 clicks and then it stops and plays accordingly...anyone know how I could eliminate this annoying two click process?
