View 2 RepliesIs there any way to merge cells (vertically and/or horizontally) in a datagrid? At least, for example, is there a way to show that certain datagridcolumns belong to one group. For example, I'll take three columns: column1, column2, column3. All these three should be grouped to the Category cell with a rowspan of 3 -- a "super header" if you will.
View 4 RepliesHow can I add a button control in cells of a datagrid? I'm looking to have a button in each row of one column in the datagrid. The datagrid control rows don't need to be selectable in any way.
View 1 RepliesI'm having trouble vertical aligning text inside cells in a DataGrid in Flex. I tried this.setStyle("vertical-align", "middle) in an itemRenderer on the column but it doesn't seem to work. I tried verticalAlign as well.

View 2 RepliesI am using the following code to insert a DataGrid object into a basic Panel:

I'm using the Spark DataGrid for the first time and finding it generally very usable.There's something I'd like to do with the contents of my grid now that I've drawn it though and I'm a bit stuck as how to proceed.I'd like to make a function that runs through each cell of a certain column in the DataGrid, that checks each value against an Array of predefined values; if it finds a match, it should then highlight the cell as conflicting, by changing its colour.I know you can access a particular cell's item renderer, by using the getItemRendererAt() function, and passing the column and row indices. But I can't see how I would, for example, loop through the values in each column
View 2 RepliesI am using the flex datagrid to allow the user to edit some data. My update process relies on a CollectionEvent of type update. Basically I catch this event package the values and update the database. However, if the user edits a cell then moves to edit a cell in the same row the value is updated but a collection event is not fired. Only when clicking out of the row the event is fired. Has anyone had experience with this. I have heard the datagrid is a little quirky is this one of those quirks or am I doing this all wrong?
View 1 RepliesThis is a snippet of code in our custom item renderer which is in actionscript:
textCustomItemRendererTempForTab.tabEnabled=true;
textCustomItemRendererTempForTab.focusEnabled=true;
textCustomItemRendererTempForTab.setFocus();
Alert.show( "Without this alert focus goes to next grid " );
keyboardEvent.preventDefault();
keyboardEvent.stopImmediatePropagation();
keyboardEvent.stopPropagation();
Right now tab navigation works (on tab, focus goes to next editable cell) with the alert inserted in the code but I'm not sure why because I believe the alert in the code breaks the flow of event bubbling. However without the alert (which is what we are going for) the focus goes to the next grid in our UI.
You can see the attempts of trying to stop the event from going to other components. I have also tried to call preventDefault() and stopPropagation() on the datagrid when it receives a tab key event.
how to allow proper tab key navigation without an alert?
I am attempting to combine two AS files that are acting as cellRenderers individually but not simultaneously for cells in a datagrid in a Flash document I have created. The first styles the cells to have alternating row colors and the second allows for non-text content to be rendered. The issue is whenever I attempt to combine them the document reports errors with "super" and "override" among others.

I have a 850 by 480 px grid. For every keystroke i am looping through an array to check if input textfield is matching object keyword, and then create cells that cover the whole grid.
But i am not sure how to populate the grid. The range is between 0 and 300, and the user input decides how many cells i have to create.
If the result is 4, i should create a two by two table. If it's 64, i should have a eight by eight table.
I want to create a panel (or any other component) inside a component that has a 5 pixel border on all sides, but scales fully when the window is resized. I know I can set width to "100%" to make it resize, but that gives me no borders. If I put it to "95%",I have borders, but they scale annoyingly. Also, that only works for borders on the right or lower bounds, and not to the left or upper sides.Is there a convenient way to do this without having to write tons of resize-code (in which case I will not bother and just accept bad rescale behaviour, as it is for a private pet project).
EDIT: I know that I can just overwrite the display handling and set the positions manually every frame. I wondered if there is a cheap way to do it in the mxml-structure, along these lines:
<mx:Panel>
width="100%" height="100%"
</mx:Panel>
Coming from C++ and Java, I am intrigued by the option of setting something to "95%" and let the library work out the details, instead of having to write many lines of code, just so my text-area always keeps a 5 pixel distance from the border, but scales with window width.If there is no easier way to do it than figuring out pixel sizes by hand and setting the coordinates.
I have following problem:
Code:
title_txt = new TextInput( );
title_txt.setSize( 100, 20 );

View 1 Repliesi'm using flash CS4 and i'm wondering how to place a component into a DataGrid.I was able to grab this script from the live docs on how to place an image to a DataGrid but I want to replace it with a button.
Code:
import fl.controls.DataGrid;
import fl.controls.dataGridClasses.DataGridColumn;
import fl.data.DataProvider;

Trouble with my DataGrid component (aDg), i want to tell it to got a fixed height, and then have a scrollbar when the lines into the Datagrid are biger than its height, but with this code, it doesn't work, the grid continues to get bigger without scrollbar :
Code:
myDP= new DataProvider(fileXML);
aDg.dataProvider = myDP;

just wondering having some trouble getting my head around the way to pass data and show data in my datagrid component from my mysql database.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to create a DataGrid component with AS and it's not showing up.
Code:
import mx.controls.*;
createClassObject(DataGrid, "dgTalent", 0, {_x: 0, _y: 0});
dgTalent.columnNames = ["Character", "Allowed"];
dgTalent.addItem({Character: "Affliction", Allowed: "Affliction"});
It's still really basic right now, but I have to keep it that way until I can at least get the darn thing to show up.
creating a new datagrid component... to have it as customizable as possible, it will definately help me in my future projects.
View 2 RepliesWasn't sure where to post this one as I'm not sure where the error is occuring.I have datagrid components being populated from a mySQL DB using php. The grids exist on external swfs being loaded into a parent clip.The datagrids populate locally no problem when tested individually and when loaded into the parent clip. They have also been working from the server in previous days, but I was doing final tests checks on some recent final changes and now things aren't working.obviously I went back and ran through what I changed but nothing really applied to the grids.Codes are below
Code:
//DISPLAY ON TAP BEERS
var myOnGridArray:Array = [];

View 1 RepliesI have a DataProvider object which loads an XML object during instantiation. I set my datagrid.dataProvider to the DataProvider object. There are 13 columns, and approximately 40 rows.
Scrolling the datagrid, and resizing columns has alot of lag. Is this to be expected when using the DataGrid component with larger datasets?
I have a datagrid in my mxml file, say, samp.mxml.

Does anyone know how to use the PrintJob Class to print a dataGrid component in ActionScript 3 (AS3)?
I need to allow the user to sort the list and print the results.
This is being used for a school, the parents can sort the students by class and then print a class list.
I want to have some sort of a list, which will contain movieclips (or thumbnails) ... is this possible to implement using the List component or DataGrid component?
View 1 RepliesThis DataGrid Components is giving me a massive headache. It's a massive pain to customize.I do some work for a graphic designer, who has given me a picture of an element which I'm to implement in an existing AS2-based Flash project (targeted flash version is not important). Here's the picture for reference:
Trying to make the default DataGrid work like this I'm quickly figuring out is nearly impossible. Firstly, I don't think it's possible to make alternating rows fade out like that. I'm willing to accept the fact I'm doomed to solid-color alternating rows for now.
My main problem at the moment is that I can't figure out how to change the size of the header. I need a larger font for the header than the items, and I need the size of the header itself to expand. Neither of which I can figure out how to do.
So does anyone know a) how to change the headers on the DataGrid, or b) where to find a more flexible (in terms of skinning) DataGrid component for AS2 which is cheap (preferably free)?
How can I create a picture list with List or DataGrid component.
