Oct 14, 2009Is there any way to merge cells (vertically and/or horizontally) in a datagrid? At least, for example, is there a way to show that certain datagridcolumns belong to one group. For example, I'll take three columns: column1, column2, column3. All these three should be grouped to the Category cell with a rowspan of 3 -- a "super header" if you will.

Flex :: DataGrid Editing Cells In Same Row Not Firing Collection Change Event
Mar 20, 2010I am using the flex datagrid to allow the user to edit some data. My update process relies on a CollectionEvent of type update. Basically I catch this event package the values and update the database. However, if the user edits a cell then moves to edit a cell in the same row the value is updated but a collection event is not fired. Only when clicking out of the row the event is fired. Has anyone had experience with this. I have heard the datagrid is a little quirky is this one of those quirks or am I doing this all wrong?

I looked at the AdvancedDataGrid but the user does not want to have a tree-structure in any of the columns. Looking to see if there are any hints/tips for modifying the DataGrid or AdvancedDataGrid to produce an "HTML Table with rowspan" look.

Example: id, height, weight, fat percentage, corporal mass. When i change one of the values in a row (except id of course) the corporal mass cell value must change using a formula like: (height/weight2)*fat percentage*100. Is this posible with Datagrid or AdvancedDatagrid in Flex ??
I tried using custom item renders and inserting actionscript code inside the datagrid with no good result.

Jul 3, 2011I have an advanced datagrid, but I want users to allow to copy some lines they want. when I use the property editable they are allowed to select the text they need, but they also are allowed to edit this. How can I prevent that?
I want users to be able to select any text in the datagrid, but they are not allowed to change the value of the grid. They should only be allowed to select and copy (ctrl + c).

Mar 14, 2012I have a problem with my AdvancedDataGrid which has inside it colums of radiobuttons.The problem is when I click on a cell in the Grid, the Radiobuttons selection become instable, some of the radio buttons of other colums become selected.The behavior I want is that when the selects the RadioButtons(the circle or its label), it become selected and not all the Cell in which the radioButton is.Here my code:

Right now tab navigation works (on tab, focus goes to next editable cell) with the alert inserted in the code but I'm not sure why because I believe the alert in the code breaks the flow of event bubbling. However without the alert (which is what we are going for) the focus goes to the next grid in our UI.
You can see the attempts of trying to stop the event from going to other components. I have also tried to call preventDefault() and stopPropagation() on the datagrid when it receives a tab key event.

Dec 23, 2010I am in a situation where user gets the cars data from the database based on the selection and displays it in datagrid like below ( for example)
Company Model Year No
GM Chevy 2010 10
GM Chevy 2009 5
GM Pontiac 2010 12
Honda Civic 2009 12
and there will be a link next to datagrid to get Pie chart based on the data displays in the data grid . The pie graph should display grouping by company and the count . I mean for the above example that should give with two pie items , one for GM showing the number of vehicles ( in this case 3 ) and Honda showing the number of vehicles ( in this case 1 ).
I thought of getting it from the database by querying and grouping it .But here the problem is after getting the data above in the datagrid user can able to filter at client end ( By year or model ) and can say get graph . This time that should only display the graph for the data visible in Datagrid .Grouping on database for every operation is becoming expensive. Since we have already data available at client end , is there any way to group it at client ..?

I have the VDivided box set up so the user can drag it to make one of the documents bigger or smaller.Is there a way to get the look of a VDivided box & the functionality of an Accordian, so that when the user clicks the VDivided box (or double clicks, I haven't decided) one of the documents will be hidden? (For instance, double clicking on the right-most side of the divider will hide the left document, and vice-versa)
In addition, if the user wanted to drag the divider, then they can do that as well. I don't have much, but here it is so far:
