Professional :: Applying Text Format To ComboBox Makes TextField Text Disappear?
Oct 25, 2010When applying text formatting to a comboBox, the text formatting appears perfectly on the dropdown menu items but the textField text disappears.Removing the text formatting from the textField makes the textField text reappear but of course there is no text formatting.
Is there a trick to this.

Nov 1, 2008The code I'm building creates two MovieClips on the stage, in one it instantiates several text boxes and in the other some buttons.
What I can't do is access data from the text boxes (e.g. textField.text) for use in the functions called by the eventListeners attached the buttons. I had the system all working nicely before I placed the text boxes and the buttons on separate movie clips.but this structure makes it much tidier to refresh the text I'm using.The button functions are fine with variables created prior to the building of the text boxes.
Am I failing to address the text boxes correctly (because they're on another movie clip) or is there a stage / movie clip property I need to set so they can see each other ... or is this something else altogether?Could it be that the buttons are created before the text boxes?

Apr 5, 2007I have a dynamic text field which is just one line of text. For some reason letters like g or p that go below the regular line of text get cut off. I have made the field bigger, and also played around with the _height Property but it doesn't make a difference. I have imported the font into the Library. When I embed it the font doesn't cut off but looks very different. And if I change the field to a static field it doesn't cut off either, but the font looks a little different as well.

This doesn't work.Whatever the initial value of the variable "Staff_Copy_Value" is will determine the text in the field.So if I use the value 0 as in the above, whatever is in the textfield on the stage shows.If I use 1,2,3, or 4 then the text strings in the defined variables shows up.What am I missing.I am assuming it is has to do with the onEnterFrame command.How do I make the movie keep checking the value of "Staff_Copy_Value"?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Text Gets Cut Off When Resizing TextField?
Jun 22, 2009I have a dynamically created textField full of text, placed in a sprite that resizes (actually it's part of a nested set of sprites that resize when the browser window is resized). As I'm resizing the window, I notice that the text does not resize smoothly, but kind of steps or jumps (just a tiny bit) between sizes - as if Flash(player) is trying to lock to pixels - perhaps to improve readability.
Sometimes it ends up that the end characters in lines actually fall outside the text box, and so get cut off.This also happens sometimes if the user's screen size just happens to be the right size to start with (the site is full screen).Relevant parameters may include:
multiline = true
wordWrap = true
autoSize = TextFieldAutoSize.LEFT

Can't think of any reason you'd _want_ this to happen. The resizing to pixels makes sense, if that's what's happening, but FP should do it so the text stays within the bounds of the text box.
