View 1 RepliesI'm attempting to load HTML from the Shopify blog API into a TextField in Flash. The problem is that Shopify doesn't add width and height attributes to images that are in the blog posts. When I load these into Flash, the width and height of the image is ignored and the height of the TextField is incorrectl, which screws up my scrollbar among other things.
Is there any way to read the width and height of the images as they are loaded? I could possibly do this with PHP before it gets to Flash, but I'm not sure how.
I am trying to avoid having to unescape URL encoded XML nodes by using a CData node element. It is a hassle to URL encode the html to put into the XML which is then read into Flash.This is what I have so far:
Code:
//Create XML with HTML 1.0 tags
myXML = new XML('
This is a paragraph
Link to Amazon
');
//
//Create dynamic html textfield
[code]....
I know that Flash does not fully support CData, but I'm sure there has to be some workaround.I did try sending the XML toString() but that didn't change anything.
htmlXML=myXML.toString();//create var for conversion from xml to string
I want the textfield to render the HTML--not just display the tags.
I have a sprite menu which populates a dynamic textfield with textlabels as users click individual items in the menu in addition to ordinary actions(gotoAndStop). As these labels appear in the textfield, I want to be able to link them to the frames assosciated with the menu - item frames. As you can understand from this, I am working with the timeline. By enabling html rendering of text in the textfield, I have been able to link these output labels via a a href - tag, but I am not able to call a function from this html. The function I am trying to call uses a switch statement to take the appropriate actions according to which label is being clicked, but the only effect I get is the html opening a browser window...... Unfortunately I do not know how to explain this any better, but here is my code for the following:

Tried several approaches for making this happen, but can't seem to do it. I could really use an example of how to do this in my particular case, since I'm not exactly a code - guru..... I am having some trouble with a dynamic html-enabled textfield and the uiscrollbar component. I created a dynamic textfield on the stage, named it "mytext". Enable it for HTML and make it multiline. I added this action: mytext.htmlText="test

test

test" The html shows up just fine. I add a uiscrollbar to it. It is definitely targeted for "mytext". Now when I test it I get: _level0.mytext in the textbox instead. When I trace mytext.htmlText, I get the correct HTML but it just doesn't show up. When I shorten my content so that the UIscrollbar isn't necessary, the HTML is again displayed correctly. Now if I update the code to say instead:

We are building a flash website with cms at the back end, and we are allowing admin to put anchors inside a content. Later we created a smaller version of the whole content to display just a small part and then [read more] button. Which add a new layer on top of every thing acting like a popup and it is populated with complete content.
Now we would like to scroll that text inside popup to that portion which [read more] button was clicked.
The most common example inside HTMl is go to top link in footer on most of the sites which move the whole document to top.
We have a little app in use with a customer where html links are generated dynamically at run time. The link text and url are put together from a couple of txt files that the customer regularly goes in and edits. These links have recently stopped working.
Of course, you would think the immediate culprit is the customer who has made a mistake in the txt files. But the the same vars from the same files are used to generate a couple of buttons on the page that DO work. And everything works when I export it from flash. It stops working as soon as it gets to a web server.
Here is the output from the functions that piece together the input data:
[Code]....
And here is the link to the app: [URL]
Choose a category in any of the lists and then any of the subheaders that appear. Most have a link in them. It's in Swedish but I know you lot are smart enough to navigate a flash app without understanding what you're clicking on
I have developed a rolling credits style movieclip in Flash using Actionscript 2. Text is loaded from an XML file and parsed into a dynamic textfield. This text includes hyperlinks to webpages defined by a url node in the xml so Flash can add the appropriate a href to the dynamic text field and make the link clickable.
In my first attempts to do this the textfield stayed still and all the links worked fine both testing locally and when I run it in a browser on my website.Then I wanted to make things move ... which I achieved easily enough and tested locally (from within Flash Professional) and the links remained clickable, a browser window opened and the webpage i was expecting to see opened... great
However, when I export the swf, upload it and run it from my website suddenly the links are not working. So I tried to test the movie in a browser from Flash Pro - same problem, it must be something to do with Flash Player and the moving dynamic textfield.
a couple of observations - the cursor will change to a hand icon when over the links as you would expect, and if I right click on the link and click open in a new window the link works ok, just not when I left click. If I stop the scrolling then the links become clickable again, it is only when the textfield is moving... actually its not technically scrolling, im moving the whole textfield.
I have 10 dynamic text fields on my stage named , xmlTxt1, xmlTxt2, xmlTxt3,,etc.
I'd like to loop through and assign a fontsize attribute from an XML file to each dynamic text box.
I'd like to use a variable , myTextField = xmlTxt, and loop through adding 1 each time to xmlTxt to access the dynamic text field names.
[Code]...
im trying to pull attributes from my xml file for use in a dynamic text field but cant seem to get the actionscript dialed in properly. i have a php script which parses the data as attributes rather than nodes...so my actionscript must use these attributes!
[CODE]...
I am looking for a very basic html editor (similar to the one being used in this forum to make entries - only more basic)...which ONLY uses html tags supported by the AS2 textfield....
View 1 Repliesfound that code to display html format text to dynamic textfield in as3:
var url:String = "http://edeejay.dyndns.org:8000/currentsong?sid=1";
var loadit:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
loadit.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler);
[code].....
I parse an xml file that his content is:
Code:

<operators>
<operator>
</operator>
[Code].....
I display the name of operator in a TextField after parsing the xml file my problem is to loop through this different TextField with a fade effect.
What I have is a dynamicly created row of movieClips. In which TextFields are added with text that's received from an Array. What I would like to be able to do is click on the movieClip that's visible and have the code understand I clicked array[3] for example and it will show the 4th array item in another textfield.
Current development: [URL]
and code:
Code:
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.events.MouseEvent;
import flash.events.Event;

I am dynamically creating a number of objects (movieclips) which all have a number of attributes.[code]and so on. i.e sub attributes. I don't think this is possible? Only sprite and movieclips can have dynamic attributes so unless atrbY is a movieclip (which it isn't, it's a string) it isn't allowed?Each object can have suboptions with further attributes associated with the chosen suboption.Later in the program I will manipulate, read and interact with the objects and they have text display behaviours dependent on the suboption chosen. That part (should) be straightforward! heh. One the object has the attributes attached in a usable format, accessing them should be simple.This will be for a store. i.e t-shirt1 has size small, price 10, size medium, price 12, size large, price 14. t-shirt2 has size medium, price 35, size large, price 40 and so on.[code]
This format of the XML can be adjusted if it would make the parsing easier.I am currently reading the XML in, stepping through, grabbing the individual parameter such as category and then adding it as an attribute of the object and it works fine. i.e. I end up with obj.category = 'catname'. However, on suboptions I am having a problem.Should I put all the suboptions in a multidimensional array and use nested loops to apply them to the object?I would still have the problem of objX.suboptionarray[Y].suboptionprice which isn't allowed? In the above XML case Y would be 0,1 and 2 giving 3 suboptions to objX and each suboptions would hold attributes such as pvid associated with that suboption.I could go down the horrible route, obj1.suboption1subptionprice ; obj1.suboption1suboptionpname; obj1.suboption1suboptionvalue; obj1.suboption2suboptionprice; obj1.suboption2suboptionpname and so on and so on for each suboption which could be five options (small,medium,large,x-large, xx-large) and which would "work" but would be bad programming and involve splicing names to get say, the "third" suboptions' price and pvid e.t.c
Going down the route of mutidimensional arrays sounds good except that on say 50 objects I would have stacks of arrays which I'm guessing isn't great in terms of resources?.Just to add, the number of suboptions varies between object, every object has a minimum of one suboption (default option) but can have as many as needed (unlikely to be more than 5 but should be scalable). i.e some t-shirts only come in medium whereas some have many sizes.I have a fair amount of leeway on the format of the XML which I generate from the database so the formatting of that could change to make the parsing easier.
Have an Input textfield and write e.g. 123 in it (This is on frame 1).Then later in frame 3 I want that number to be shown in a Dynamic textfield.How do I do that?
View 0 RepliesI have 2 input textfields on the stage and 1 dynamic textfield.
-input1 is for quantity
-input2 is for page count
When a user enters a number into the page count it makes a calculation and places the outcome into the dynamic textfield. This textfield is for the individual price.All of this so far works. What I want to do now is create another dynamic textfield for the total. So the individual price is multiplied by the quantity and this result is put in the new dynamic text field. I have the code for that working but here is where it gets tricky (for me anyway).The total price is to start off invisible. When I roll over the individual price the total price is to appear (For a test lets just say when I roll over an area the total price appears).To stop cursor flickering this should be done inside a movieclip. So... I have create a movieclip and placed a dynamic textfield inside it. They all have instance names BUT how do I reference it in script?I need to tell the resulting calculation to be placed inside the textfield which is inside the movieclip. If it isn't inside a movie clip I can do it. But how to I reference it when inside one?
I have some dynamic text I want to change the attributes of. For instance, I would like the first few words of each paragraph to be BOLD and to be a different color. But when I select those words and change it to bold it makes ALL the text in the text box change to BOLD.
View 5 RepliesIm trying to create same MCs and create a textField inside each MC created, then I am trying to apply onRollOver event into those MCs created and change the textField.textColor.
From my code Im resulting and trace with "undefined" how can I manipulate the dynamic created Textfield inside the dynamic created MC
Here is my code:
for (var i = 101; i < 103; i++)
{
if ( i != 115 and i != 116 or i != 126 or i != 127 or i != 134)
{

I'm creating a playlist for a music player, and I've got the song names displaying correctly in my songTitle holder MC, but there's limited space for the song names to be shown in, and I'm going to eventually have it inside a scrolling movieclip. Problem is, the text inside the textfields disappear when I try to add a mask to the movieclip they're being loaded into. I've tried adding all combos of embedFonts, antialias, and blendModes I ran into, to no avail.how to mask dynamically created textfields with a non-dynamic (Flash IDE-made) mask.
Code:
for (var i:int = 1; i <= _size; i++) {
var pl_artist:TextField = new TextField;
//all embedFont = true and antiAlias commands no workie
}
I have HTML + CSS text. I need some lib with simple function like "Render String Var conteining HTML" So no external files (like in flash lib called HTMLwraper you just have to play your SWF on top of HTML). dinamic! I give it string it renders It into some conteiner (not as a bitmab but as if it was real HTML dynamically rendered in flash). (And I need real HTML + CSS support not what normal rich text block gives us)I am going to use it in with Flex (Flash Builder) so I like MXML component model but even pure flash AS3 will workout.It should be Free and Opensource (any license like GPL, LGPL etc will be ok).So Is out there such flashflex library for HTML + CSS dynamic rendering (rfom given String or XML)?
View 1 RepliesBasically, there is a Flash movie embedded in the HTML TextFiled. The code is is as follows:

Is there any way to make the space between embedded Flash movie above and this text more narrow ???

In case there is less line breaks (
) the text in the last paragraph is shown truncated from the beginnng (so it's like "ny way to make the space..."). Is this a bug in Flash Player or is there any way to render text below embered swf better?

I have looked for a quick and easy function to be able to prepend html to a dynamic text field but have found nothing.
View 4 RepliesI tried to display HTML content in a text field using its htmlText property.But it is not displaying correctly.I have attached here my current output (incorrect.jpg) and how it should looks like(correct.jpg).
Here is html data

CISnet - Errormessage

When i use html in my xml it seems that as3 add the html text hidden to the textfield causing an y moving because of the html. How can i do to use html in xml without adding it to the textfield?
View 1 RepliesI haven't worked with HTML TextFields much, and was wondering if this is even possible. I am working on an events calendar, which when loaded displays a list of the current month's event titles in an HTML TextField. I would like to have these titles be links that when clicked on would call an ActionScript line that would setFocus on the associated date TextField.
View 3 RepliesI thought you could load an image into an html textField? I have HTML data that has IMG tags embedded into it, and I need a way to display them.

View 1 RepliesI have three objects on the stage, each of them holds different value. Then there is a text field. If, lets say one object is clicked textfield displays value of the object, if more objects are clicked on textfield displays the values of all objects counted together (I think you kind of know where I am coming from..
Now, after I have clicked on the objects I wanted, I would like the value of textfield to be passed to..possibly html form..Im not sure whether this can be done from the swf file, so was thinking that probably you can create a button that send the value somewhere, only dont know where and how..
