ActionScript 2.0 :: Use The MediaPlayback Component With An External .flv?
Jun 9, 2004I'm trying to use the MediaPlayback component with an external .flv The video shows fine, but for some reason the progressbar isn't working.

View 1 RepliesI'm building a custom Audio Player. The whole thing drives a MediaPlayback component. I have a scrubber set up that moves with the progress of the song. I want to be able to click and scrub with it though. Currently I have it set to set the playheadTime equal to the percent distance the slider is dragged to times the totalTime of the playback component. After the release of the slider I trace out the playheadTime and it seems to be fine, but I can't get it to resume playing at all. Here's the code in the controller:
var totalDistance = bar_mc._width - slider_mc._width;
var wasPlaying = false;
this.onEnterFrame = function(){

Whenever an MP3 is initiated to stream (well, progressively download really) with the mediaPlayback component, it will contue to dl to the cache until done or the browser is refreshed. The occurs even when the component has been unloaded from an empty movieclip. This is an issue when folks browse alot of MP3s on the site, because even though it's inaudible, suddenly there are many files simultaneously dl'ing to their cache. Cant find a stop stream type of command in the media class, which I think is the only class for the media components. If I were doing real streaming with the Comm Server for example, I could use stopStream.
View 1 RepliesIve used mediaplayback component on a webpage and it works fine except the playhead pointy thing doesnt move as the video plays. Isnt it supposed to do that ? It just stays at the start while the video is actually playing.If i drag the pointer to a different part of the streaming bar then it does what its supposed to do but that doesnt look right.
View 2 RepliesI've searched high and low and haven't been able to figure out a way to set a preview image for video I'm loading in using the mediaPlayback component. Using Flash CS4, AS2.
View 1 Repliesi'am doin a presentation and i put music bg in a mediaplayback component, but i need it in a loop.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to compile gui/flex/songs.mxml in the fourth edition of Bruce Eckel's Thinking in Java book and am getting a compilation error with Flex 3.4.
Here is a simplified version of the example that gives the same error:

I've got a problem to play MP3 with MediaPlayBack, calling from a XML playlist. The playlist seems to work but not the MediaPlayBack which doesn't load the MP3...
Here is my XML code named mp3list.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<musiques>
<musique url="musique/01.mp3" desc="titre 1" />
<musique url="musique/02.mp3" desc="titre 2" />

I have a instance on MediaPlayback and a button on one of my frames, i need to the button to either stop/pause the media file, is there anyway of doing this?

View 1 RepliesI am working on a mp3 album collection project and I am using Mediaplayback component for playing the mp3 files, a List component to show all the tracks (and select one) and the songlists are stored in XML data located in one folder for each album. It is working fine, but I want to have a button to "Play all tracks" like when you place a CD in the Windows Media Player, that is, starting playing the first track and so on.... until the last one.
Here are the parts for the mediaplayback:
lista.addEventListener("change", ifchanging);
function ifchanging(evento) {
if (evento.type == "change") {
[Code]....
But it just play the last track. I think it must go on one of the events or in a if..else including the EventListener... I'm just beginning on ActionScripting and I am using parts of what I saw in other codes.

that is for when you click (or press) on a selected item in the "lista" List.
I tried something like:
for (var i = 0; i<num_total; i++) {
player.setMedia(urlnow+"/"+lista.selectedIndex[i].data, "MP3");
player.play();
}

I have a MediaPlayback component on stage, i have a sound with linkage name "sound1" in the library;
Why mediaPlayback.contentPath = "sound1" wouldn't work?
I have a loader component on my stage that I load 30 or so different external swfs into. Their stages are all exactly the same size as the loader. But one external swf has an image that extents outside it's stage size, AND it is this that gets rescaled (shrinks) when loaded into the loader. How can I fix the size of just this one external swf?

I have a game that loads most of the assets of the interface externally (swfs... pngs... mp3's .. etc). Most of this works fine, however,I'm having problems trying to load a SWF that holds a slider component and a few buttons (MovieClips).
Once I've loaded the external SWF that contains the component into my main game logic, I try to access the slider Component. If I dont specify a class type when I do this I get no problems, but if I try to insert it in a variable of type Slider It says it can not cast it.
This causes a problem:
var mySlider:Slider = externalClip_mc.theSlider;
And this seems fine: (Not specifying a class type)
var mySlider = externalClip_mc.theSlider;
The error message I get says something like this:
you can not cast fl.Controls::Slider@114e4041 into fl.Controls.Slider.
I also get the same thing if I try to dispatch a SliderEvent from my external SWF:
you can not cast fl.events::SliderEvent@114e4041 into fl.events.SliderEvent.Why does this happen when I try to access a component and not a member from any other type (int, MovieClip, Number, String ... etc)... ?
so ive got this
// Import the treeClasses.* to use TreeDataProvider
import com.yahoo.astra.fl.controls.treeClasses.*;
[code]......
I have a component "child" which has a cancel button. Now this component is placed in a state called "newChildComp" I also have another component called "parent". In the parent component, i have a button that dispatches an event. Here is the event code:
[Code].....
so, basically,i am checking to see if the cancel button component in the Child component, while i am still in the parent Compoent, was clicked, if it was clicked, call the cancelButtonHandler. The problem is by the time the addNewChild handles the event, that cancel button was still null. My question is how do i solve this without using the itemCreationPolicy on the cancel button?
I am trying to loop my external video with flash cs5, I know little about actionscript 3.0 . Haven't be able to get anywhere it uses a component called FLVPlackback. I started off with a flash template that I have tweaked to my needs Here is the .fla file I am adding the video I want to loop the the photos page
View 3 RepliesI have a button on stage names voices. When it is click the video component should play voices.flv.
Here is my code.
import fl.video.FLVPlayback;
import flash.events.MouseEvent;
voices.buttonMode = true;
voices.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, video);
function video(event:MouseEvent):void {
flvplayback.source = this.event.target + ".flv";
}
I get this when I click on the button:
Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties.
I created an application to show a datagrid with a custom column in Flex 3. How can I access the method loadDetails in this code?:
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute">
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
public function loadDetails(id:String) : void { // Some code here
[Code].....
When I tried to run this code Flex throws an error. It says that loadDetails is not defined. I suppose that error is because of scope.
I'm loading a webpage inside a HTML component in AIR. By default, when something is clicked the next page is loaded inside the HTML component itself. I want the links from that page to open in an external web browser.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to figure out how to make a component drop down box load an external swf.
I am also trying to figure out how to get a combo box to load a movieclip.
I am developping a player with Articulate Presenter and Flash. I would like to put thumbnails that are in a special folder in swf, into a scrollPane. The scrollPane itself is in a clip loaded when I click on the Thumbnails Tab.
Here is my simplified code :
ActionScript Code:
// I first preload the thumbnailsPanel containing the scrollPane
var thumbnailsPanelClip:MovieClip = completeMenu.attachMovie("thumbnailsPanel","thumbnailsPanel",completeMenu.getNextHighestDepth());
thumbnailsPanelClip._y = 35;
[code]....
Well, my problem is that the ScrollPane is not scrolling until the end of the thumbnails, so I don't know if all the thumbnails are loaded. And even worse, exactly one time on two, the Scroll Bar is not showing at all ... !is it a scrollPane pb ? I use it many times in other parts of my project without any problem ... or is it because there are too many thumbnails ? I have around 30 - 40 to load ..
I have a parent movie that can load various "overlays", which are externally loaded swf's. For several of these overlays now, when the overlay is loaded into the parent movie, any components it was using seem to disappear, or more precisely, use the parent movie's component (so if the parent movie doesn't have an instance of whatever component it is in it's library, then the child won't display anything.) I have been able to (sort of) solve the problem by creating an instance of whatever component it is in the parent, but this is undesirable, especially since different overlays may use different versions of the same component (i.e., skinned UIScrollbars.)
So, code in the parent:
Code:
public function drawOverlay (rID:String, payload:String, x1:Number, y1:Number, w:Number, h:Number, o:Number, bg:String, bc:String, bw:Number) : void
{
trace("SKIN - "+rID,x1,y1,w,h,o,bg,bc,bw);
[code]....
The child runs perfectly standalone (of course), and everything except components work fine when loaded. Everything is CS4/AS3. It seems like I have a rooting issue, where the root of the loaded swf is being linked to the root of the parent, but I don't know what to check out...
I'm trying to create TextArea component in an external .as file. For starters I've copy the code directly from the Adobe AS3 reference page
Code:
import fl.controls.TextArea;
var aTa:TextArea = new TextArea();
aTa.move(100,100);
[Code]...
Is there any class I still need to import when running this from a .as file?
I have multiple "Loader Components" placed in a grid that are working great for loading external JPEG's. However, when I publish my file the "Loader Components" load each image randomly (I assume because they load the smallest file in size first then next largest and so on). How do I load the content of multiple "Loader Components" in a specific sequence?
Here is the script I have so far:
////"Thumb1" is the instance name of the first "Loader Component" in the grid.
Next is "Thumb2", then "Thumb3" and so on
Thumb1.load()
if (Thumb1.percentLoaded >= 1 ) {
Thumb2.load();}
if (Thumb2.percentLoaded >= 1) {
Thumb3.load();}
if (Thumb3.percentLoaded >= 1) {
Thumb4.load();}
if (Thumb4.percentLoaded >= 1) {
Thumb5.load();}
i developed application in action script 3.0 with adobe flash cs4 professional. In this application, i loaded another external swf which is having flash list component, but while loading the swf in main swf it showing TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.at fl.containers::BaseScrollPane/drawBackground()at fl.controls::List/draw()at fl.core::UIComponent/callLaterDispatcher() please, kindly suggest me for this issue.
