View 4 Repliesthe external swf loads before the preloader finishes completely. i've attached the code below.
Movie clip loader
var mcLoader:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
var myListener:Object = new Object();
mcLoader.addListener(myListener);
[code]....
How can I create a preloader which does this? I have seen many examples of code to load an external swf, but never something that loads itself.
View 2 RepliesI want to load six seperate .swf's into the main movie while the main movie loads too. So in simpler words, i want to be able to load all of the swf's the same time i am loading the main swf.
View 2 RepliesI have a preloader that loads an external .swf file. Preloader works fine, technically the external .swf loads fine, but the external .swf is scaled up so you can only see about 2/3 of the screen. I made the stage for the preloader the same size as the stage for the external swf. I used the HTML for the swf that gets loaded, and just changed the file name to that of my loader.
View 4 RepliesI just watched the AS3 preloader tutorial here, and downloaded the FLA to copy the AS into my project. Here is the AS...
Code: Select allvar l:Loader = new Loader();
l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, loop);
l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, done);
l.load(new URLRequest("splash.swf"));
[Code].....
The preloader works to load the 'splash.swf', but that SWF is a 36 frame long movie, and when it loads from the preloader, it's already at Frame 36, so you never see what was before that frame. How can I get it to load at it's Frame 1?
Is it posible to make a preloader of a SWF that loads an external JPG?
View 1 RepliesI am building a peloader which loads an external file. Simulate donwload has never really worked for me, it just flashes and shows my loader at 100%. Does anyone have any tips to actually get this working?I have flash cs3, publishing to FP9 and using a simple LOAD_COMPLETE, onProgress function.
View 6 RepliesI have an external preloader that loads the game that's hosted on And let's also say that game is amazingly ridiculously popular that it exceeded the monthly bandwidth limit of my free hosting plan on that server and my account gets suspended. Then what will happen when the Loader object calls load (new URLRequesI'm planning to upload a game to a distribution website and they strongly encourage that the games be contained in one single swf. But trying to do a internal preloader is shortening my lifespan.So I plan to maybe have the game swf hosted on multiple servers and if the primary server fails due to heavy traffic or the account got suspended then the player can choose to load from a different server. I'm pretty sure that's possible..
View 2 RepliesI have used flash for a while, but I've never been able to fully grasp the preloader, and how to write code for it. I understand the function of it obviously, but whether to put it on the movie clip or separate actions layer confuses me. I am trying to create a preloader with a movie clip that loads an external image.
View 1 Repliesi am using this preloader to load load external swf files in my main.swf. it works great but it has a small issue regarding loading timing. when it gets to 100% and loads the external swf file the swf file as i suspect is loaded a little bit earlier than the % and when it shows up its already playing the 10th frame instead of the first frame. the code is below....
MovieClip.prototype.fadeIn = function() {
this.onEnterFrame = function() {
if (this._alpha<100) {

I am making a Flash portfolio for a college class. I am trying to make it when I click on a button, it will load an external .swf. When I click on another button, it will replace the previous .swf.I have it working, but the code is sloppy, .Also, within cleaning up the code, is there a better way to load the first external .swf when the main movie loads?
Code:
// FULL MENU ACTIONSCRIPT //
import flash.events.MouseEvent;
import flash.display.*;[code].........
I am using a main .swf with buttons on a navigation menu that loads external .swf(s) - these load external videos (I use them as their backgrounds).In the main .FLA I have used the following code (in the first and unique frame):
CODE
var Xpos:Number = 110;
var Ypos:Number = 180;
var swf:MovieClip;
var loader:Loader = new Loader();
var defaultSWF:URLRequest = new URLRequest("swfs/eyesClosed.swf");[code].....

I can make each button on the menu load each external .swf correctly with videos included - but when I leave that .swf using the navigation buttons to go to another section, the video and audio keep working in the background.
have a swf that plays an flv in the flvplayback component. Currently, I have an external preloader that loads the swf, then once the swf is displayed the flvplayback component buffers. I would like the external preloader to also load the flv buffer. I had done it before it AS2 by having the first 50% of the preloader be the swf,and then have the flvplayback component invisible and have the last 50% of the preloader do the flv buffer.Maybe this is a crazy solution, is there a much easier and logical way to do this?My real problem is that my external preloader loads the swf and the preloader bar using the addChild method and I can't figure out how to have the swf communicate with it's sibling to update the progress bar on the progress of the flvplayback component.
View 3 RepliesI am diving in to learn AS3 and converting my site over to AS3. The majority of my code is for my navigation in my main movie that loads external swf files. Here is what I have and I don't know where to start to convert it. I know I need to do this in steps. So the audio is not important now or my other swf files.
[Code]...
Everything is embedded in an HTML site. The HTML loads a preloader that then loads the actual flash movie. Inside this movie I created a few buttons, inside a scroll bar movie clip. I want the buttons to load a whole new movie inside the same html. The code I'm using in the button is simply:
on(release) {
loadMovie("new_movie.swf", 0);
}
The problem is that it works beautifully in the Flash movie tester but doesn't do anything when tested inside the browser, embedded in the HTML. I think the problem is that the HTML embeds as an object the first movie, the preloader for the menu movie, not the menu movie itself.
I need to preload 2 external .swfs, one containing animation and one containing sound, and I need them to start playing at the same time. As of now I have a general preloader on the main timeline, but as you might expect, after the preloader finishes, there is a lag while the .swf's are being loaded. I thought everything was solved, until a friend of mine looked at it in dial-up, and the preloader just kept looping 10 times before the animation started, so now I'm starting over. Part of my complication I believe is that I'm using loadMovieNum into levels as opposed to loading the external .swf's in a separate container MC (that's what I've noticed most people recommend for this problem), but I tried doing that technique several times with no luck. Right now my main movie, index.fla, has a preloader MC in the first frame, with this AS attached to the clip:
Code:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
loading = _parent.getBytesLoaded();
total = _parent.getBytesTotal();
percent -= (percent-((loading/total)*100))*.25;
per = int(percent);
[Code] .....
The clip contains a loadbar, static text (which just says 'Loading'), dynamic text (which tells the percentage), and a 'stop' in the actions layer. In the actions layer within my main movie, there is a 'stop' on the first frame as well. On the second frame, there is this AS:
Code:
var audioOn = false;
loadMovieNum("musicfile.swf", 1);
loadMovieNum("1movie.swf", 2);
stop();
In order that the animation and music starts at the same time, within my animation .swf (1movie.swf), I have this AS on the first frame of the actions layer:
Code:
if (_level0.audioOn == true) {
gotoAndPlay(2);
}
Within my musicfile.swf, there is this AS on the second frame of the mp3:
Code:
_level0.audioOn = true;
My main objective is to be able to use my preloader to preload both of these .swf's concurrently in my main movie so that they may start at the same time.
I have an External Swf with its own Preloader that is loaded into my Main swf,It works fine when i am testing it in Macromedia Flash 8 However when i upload all of it to my site and i click the button that loads the External swf in to my main swf it loads the hole main swf again and not the external swf. (NOTE i load the external swf into a MC ''myContainer2'' on the main swf) Here are my codes:
External Preloader
onClipEvent (enterFrame)
{
percent = Math.floor(_root.getBytesLoaded() / _root.getBytesTotal() * 100);
gotoAndPlay(percent);
[code]....
My external swfs are taking 8-10 secs gap in loading inside main swf, that's why i want to load my external swfs with dynamic content at the same time when my main swf loads.
Code of preloader
Code on 1st frame:
onClipEvent (load) {
total = _root.getBytesTotal();
}
[Code].....
When importing external swf's, would it be better to have the preloader code in the external swf or in the main movie? I've seen threads about this everywhere but I don't see the difference. Once the movie pops in it starts preloading right? Is there a faster result when the preloader is in the main movie?
View 2 Repliesthis is my final bug then I can finally launch this bloody site. here's my problem, I am loading an external .swf, which contains a pre-loader. the preloader in the external .swf works fine when I test it online by itself (not being loaded via main.swf) But when I test the external.swf through the main.swf the preloader does not work. the external.swf just plays through like it does not recognize the stop in the first frame to initialize the preloader skipping it altogether.here is my code:
[Code]...
I've tried to approach this from several angles, employing several of the tutorials, attachments found in various threads, etc, and nothing has worked. So, please bear me as I ask yet another question regarding this subject.I need to preload 2 external .swfs, one containing animation and one containing sound, and I need them to start playing at the same time. As of now I have a general preloader on the main timeline, but as you might expect, after the preloader finishes, there is a lag while the .swf's are being loaded.thought everything was solved, until a friend of mine looked at it in dial-up, and the preloader just kept looping 10 times before the animation started, so now I'm starting over. I need a preloader to include an external .swf (iPhone_334x500.swf) that is dynamically added later in the timeline. Currently, the preloader goes to 100% and then begins to load the external swf before completing and going to frame 2. Rather than just appear to sit at 100% for 20 secs while it is still loading my external swf, I would like to include the external swf's load time in the preloader data.
This is my "preloader" code on frame 1, which is empty except for the AS. (Just a basic bar and percent preloader.) I included all of my code just in case, so please ignore the font embedding and masking if it makes it easier.
[Code]....
Been trying to load my main SWF through my external preloader, however no mater what i do I'm getting this: VerifyError: Error #1014: Class flash.text.engine::FontDescription could not be found. Could this be due to TLF embedded fonts or things being loaded on the first frame of my main site?
View 1 Repliesthe best way to do it but i have a preloader the loads an external swf that loads 2 external swf files. one on layer o and the other 1.it seems to load the swf on layer 1 twice.url...if i run the swf that loads the 2 external swf files by it's self and the same problem happens.mouse over the navagation button and then mouse over the close button and follow the animation down to were it turns back into the navagation button. sometimes the close stays up.if i run the swf file that just contains the navagation it dosen't happen.
View 2 RepliesI'm creating a flash 3d website for a company. The idea is that there is one overall swf file - this holds the navigation and design. Once the user clicks on a button, it goes to frame 10, I have included the following script to load a swf file
loadMovie("deepbartesting.swf", maincontent);
this.onEnterFrame=function(){
if(movieClipName._currentframe==5){
[Code]....
the preloader works, but instead of going to frame 2 of that swf file, it goes to frame 2 of the overall swf that holds the navigation. Does anyone know how to get around this so that it goes to frame 2 in the same swf file as the preloader?
I have a preloader and it works fine but as soon as I put a movie clip on to it it either does nor work or loads from 80% onwards.All I want is 1 timeline and then have a movie clip come in on frame 8 or so, but in the bandwith profiler it shows content loading in frame 1 when there is nothing there
View 5 RepliesI tried a new script. But it doesn't want to work. it is like this
photo.onPress = function(){startPreload("slider.swf");}
bio.onPress = function(){startPreload("bio.swf");};
design.onPress = function(){startPreload("design.swf");};
[code]....
that's it.I checked. The movie clip that swfs are loaded into has instance "Cont" other instances are also ok. photo, bio and design are instances of buttons. Bio loads the swf but the preloader is not showing up. Photo doesn't load the swf and preloader at all ;/
I have the following code that loads multiple images from an xml file. How do I create a preloader that accounts for all the images together and represented by a single progress bar? In other words, if I have four images, I want them to preload with a single progress bar representing the total of all four, and then start the movie after all four have finished loading.
ActionScript Code:
var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
xmlLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, processXML);
[code].....
I have a file .fla with some impported .fla files and a backgound(scene1). I have a preloader(in the scene2) for it, but the preloader loads the backgound only. The other elements are loaded after the preloader finish.Is there some way to load all the scene2 content (the impported files) with the preloader?
