ActionScript 3.0 :: External Preloader That Loads The Swf, Then Once The Swf Is Displayed The Flvplayback Component Buffers?

have a swf that plays an flv in the flvplayback component. Currently, I have an external preloader that loads the swf, then once the swf is displayed the flvplayback component buffers. I would like the external preloader to also load the flv buffer. I had done it before it AS2 by having the first 50% of the preloader be the swf,and then have the flvplayback component invisible and have the last 50% of the preloader do the flv buffer.Maybe this is a crazy solution, is there a much easier and logical way to do this?My real problem is that my external preloader loads the swf and the preloader bar using the addChild method and I can't figure out how to have the swf communicate with it's sibling to update the progress bar on the progress of the flvplayback component.

I have a working pre-loader in AS2 that counts up the bytes when loading an flv into a plain video object, and displays a progress bar and percent counter. But now I need to use the FLVplayback component instead, and need to do it in an AS3 projector...and I'm stuck. Please don't tell me RTFM or search Google or LiveDocs -- I've been doing that for several days, and the FLVplayback component drives me crazy. It doesn't seem to have the functionality of a video object, like bytesLoaded, and my attempts to load an flv into the component just give me errors.
point me in the right direction? What I posted is the code that works for AS2 and the video object. The video object is called my_video, the dynamic text box is called progressMessage, and the progress bar is oddly called progressBar. If it makes any difference, I'm doing this in a projector, not a browser.

I have a preloader that loads an external .swf file. Preloader works fine, technically the external .swf loads fine, but the external .swf is scaled up so you can only see about 2/3 of the screen. I made the stage for the preloader the same size as the stage for the external swf. I used the HTML for the swf that gets loaded, and just changed the file name to that of my loader.

I just watched the AS3 preloader tutorial here, and downloaded the FLA to copy the AS into my project. Here is the AS...

The preloader works to load the 'splash.swf', but that SWF is a 36 frame long movie, and when it loads from the preloader, it's already at Frame 36, so you never see what was before that frame. How can I get it to load at it's Frame 1?

I am building a peloader which loads an external file. Simulate donwload has never really worked for me, it just flashes and shows my loader at 100%. Does anyone have any tips to actually get this working?I have flash cs3, publishing to FP9 and using a simple LOAD_COMPLETE, onProgress function.

I have an external preloader that loads the game that's hosted on And let's also say that game is amazingly ridiculously popular that it exceeded the monthly bandwidth limit of my free hosting plan on that server and my account gets suspended. Then what will happen when the Loader object calls load (new URLRequesI'm planning to upload a game to a distribution website and they strongly encourage that the games be contained in one single swf. But trying to do a internal preloader is shortening my lifespan.So I plan to maybe have the game swf hosted on multiple servers and if the primary server fails due to heavy traffic or the account got suspended then the player can choose to load from a different server. I'm pretty sure that's possible..

I have used flash for a while, but I've never been able to fully grasp the preloader, and how to write code for it. I understand the function of it obviously, but whether to put it on the movie clip or separate actions layer confuses me. I am trying to create a preloader with a movie clip that loads an external image.

i am using this preloader to load load external swf files in my main.swf. it works great but it has a small issue regarding loading timing. when it gets to 100% and loads the external swf file the swf file as i suspect is loaded a little bit earlier than the % and when it shows up its already playing the 10th frame instead of the first frame. the code is below....

I've been working on webdesign for some years now, having worked mainly in full flash websites with a lot of actionscripting. Thus I consider myself quite familiar with actionscript but only AS2 as I've still haven't made the cross to AS3 (I know i'm almost 5 years late...).I've been recently hired to convert interactive points on some museums that were working with dvd menu's to flash. I've constructed and programmed everything with no trouble at all using some programing to use a circular menu and the flvplayback component to load external 720P HD movies on f4v format. Everything was working perfectly until I was faced with the real PC's that were being used on the museums. Some of them are okay PC's and so I just had to reduce the quality of the videos a bit (a 20 mb bitrate was too much... lol).
However some of them are the equivalent of netbooks (like the Asus EEE PC) and that's where my nightmare begun.So the real problem is this: the computers can run the HD videos perfectly through the VLC media player. However, using the flash presentation either on flash projector or an swf running through an html on internet explorer results in an unwatchable video all sloppy and with buggy sound.I've even tried loading the videos inside a totally empty flash project which still resulted on the same problems.What happens is that when the flash loads the videos the system usage of the processor results in 60 percent with peaks reaching the 80 percent.The weirdest part is that sites like youtube that run HD movies work on those pc's but my presentation does not.Do you have any suggestions on what might be happening?? Is this a problem that has to do with the FlvPlayback component and that I could solve using the Open Source BetterFlv component instead?

Everything is embedded in an HTML site. The HTML loads a preloader that then loads the actual flash movie. Inside this movie I created a few buttons, inside a scroll bar movie clip. I want the buttons to load a whole new movie inside the same html. The code I'm using in the button is simply:
on(release) {
loadMovie("new_movie.swf", 0);
}
The problem is that it works beautifully in the Flash movie tester but doesn't do anything when tested inside the browser, embedded in the HTML. I think the problem is that the HTML embeds as an object the first movie, the preloader for the menu movie, not the menu movie itself.

I was wondering if there was a way to get the sound from a FLVPlayback component and manipulate it with using a custom volume slider? Within my Actionscript I currently have this code which enables me to control the volume of a MP3:

the best way to do it but i have a preloader the loads an external swf that loads 2 external swf files. one on layer o and the other 1.it seems to load the swf on layer 1 twice.url...if i run the swf that loads the 2 external swf files by it's self and the same problem happens.mouse over the navagation button and then mouse over the close button and follow the animation down to were it turns back into the navagation button. sometimes the close stays up.if i run the swf file that just contains the navagation it dosen't happen.

I've spent hours looking for a solution to why my preloader is not working. No luck. I've found alot of information, and have checked everything I can think of, but I am missing something.
Problem: Preloader is not displayed until 90% of content is loaded.[code]...
Most of the content is created dynamically, so I've had to embed one font type, but I've deselected the Export on Frame 1 option for this font. I still think this might be the issue though.

A website I've recently encoded has HTML5 video that falls back to a Flash video for IE browsers. The MP4 video is played through a SWF file with an FLVPlayBack component, and works perfectly on my company's staging environment. However, once we moved the files to the client's live site, the video's buffering does not work properly. Instead of showing the video controllers and progress bar as the video loads, nothing is shown until the video file is completely downloaded (about 50MB)Here are the settings used for the SWF file and FLVPlayBack Component:

I'm trying to do to familiarize myself with flash. I'm loading an external XML document into a Flash AS2 project using the XMLComponent. I'm able to get everything to display properly within my lists except for my hyperlinks.
I've enclosed my hyperlinks in the XML document using the <![CDATA[hyperlink]]>. Once the movie launches.....the full URL tags are being displayed: (eg. <a href="http://www.google.com">Google</a> )
My hyperlinks are in there own seperate List component.

I have a custom component I've developed that's part of a dashboard.It does some polling based on a timer that's part of the component.
When the user navigates away from the view that contains this component I would like to stop the timer and hence stop the polling.I can obviously fire an event when the view's changed and catch it within the component but I was hoping that there might be a way to contain this all within the component.Is there an event or state change within a component that triggers and even when a component is currently be displayed?

I have a several chart components that I have created in Flex. Basically I have set up a special UI that allows the user to select which of these charts they want to print. When they press the print button each of the selected charts is created dynamically then added to a container. Then I send this container off to FlexPrintJob.
i.e.

I have seen some examples on the adobe site that add the container to the application but don't include it in the layout. This looks like the way to go.

I have a preloader and it works fine but as soon as I put a movie clip on to it it either does nor work or loads from 80% onwards.All I want is 1 timeline and then have a movie clip come in on frame 8 or so, but in the bandwith profiler it shows content loading in frame 1 when there is nothing there

I tried a new script. But it doesn't want to work. it is like this

that's it.I checked. The movie clip that swfs are loaded into has instance "Cont" other instances are also ok. photo, bio and design are instances of buttons. Bio loads the swf but the preloader is not showing up. Photo doesn't load the swf and preloader at all ;/

I have the following code that loads multiple images from an xml file. How do I create a preloader that accounts for all the images together and represented by a single progress bar? In other words, if I have four images, I want them to preload with a single progress bar representing the total of all four, and then start the movie after all four have finished loading.

I have a file .fla with some impported .fla files and a backgound(scene1). I have a preloader(in the scene2) for it, but the preloader loads the backgound only. The other elements are loaded after the preloader finish.Is there some way to load all the scene2 content (the impported files) with the preloader?
