I am diving in to learn AS3 and converting my site over to AS3. The majority of my code is for my navigation in my main movie that loads external swf files. Here is what I have and I don't know where to start to convert it. I know I need to do this in steps. So the audio is not important now or my other swf files.

I am using a main .swf with buttons on a navigation menu that loads external .swf(s) - these load external videos (I use them as their backgrounds).In the main .FLA I have used the following code (in the first and unique frame):

I can make each button on the menu load each external .swf correctly with videos included - but when I leave that .swf using the navigation buttons to go to another section, the video and audio keep working in the background.
I want to load six seperate .swf's into the main movie while the main movie loads too. So in simpler words, i want to be able to load all of the swf's the same time i am loading the main swf.

When I click on another button, it will replace the previous .swf.I have it working, but the code is sloppy, .Also, within cleaning up the code, is there a better way to load the first external .swf when the main movie loads?

I have attached two pictures. Basically I am making a website. The main navigation loads in external swf's through a container movie. For this I have used this tutorial : [URL]. What I want to do is- when you rollover the navigation bar, be it the text or the coloured block- I want it to scroll down and reveal the 'sub navigation'. (pic2) It's like a drop down menu but kind of the other way around. Then, when you either rolloff of the navigation bar or click on a menu button, it slides back up to its original state. (Pic1). I have played around and only managed a sloppy version which doesn't work very well, especially when you resize. I think a simple answer to this is if I could get my buttons to work inside a movie clip. I had tried this but then the swfs wouldn't load properly.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to load external swf files in a main movie.I have created 3 different movies. Main movie is named "Container". Another 2 movies are named "movie1.swf" and "movie2.swf".Main movie "Container" is having some navigation buttons and template sort of thing in it. On the lowest layer in main movie I have created an empty movie clip in which I am trying to load "movie1.swf".Now problem is when I load "movie1.swf" instead of loading the external movie in target mc, it clears all the contents in main movie.
View 3 Repliesthe best way to do it but i have a preloader the loads an external swf that loads 2 external swf files. one on layer o and the other 1.it seems to load the swf on layer 1 twice.url...if i run the swf that loads the 2 external swf files by it's self and the same problem happens.mouse over the navagation button and then mouse over the close button and follow the animation down to were it turns back into the navagation button. sometimes the close stays up.if i run the swf file that just contains the navagation it dosen't happen.

I have similar code on button two and this does indeed make the buttons move into place as required. My problem is this, I need to load in external swf files into an empty movie clip on the main stage called container. These External SWF files have transitions and this is where my problem is. If I place a normal button on the stage it works but not if the button is inside a movie clip and has actions applied as above. The code next is what I have believe should also be placed on the button to make swf transition one load in.

And I have gallery.swf file that loads subgallery.swf.The jpeg images and both swf files are in the same folder.When I test gallery.swf it loads subgallery.swf but subgallery.swf doesn't load images. When testing subgallery.swf alone, it loads jpeg files.Is there any limitation or setting preventing external swfs loading other content?

Everything was going fine on a website project I've been working on, until yesterday. I'll try to explain the whole scenario first, and I'll put the code in here too so anyone can try to figure out what is wrong. Here's the breakdown of the site:
1) There is a MAIN SWF file that plays an intro and then stops on the last frame with the "Main" Navigation buttons.
2) Inside the Root folder where the MAIN SWF resides, there is another folder called "swfs" which contains six main external navigation pages, as well as another folder called "galleries" which contains additional external swf files for six gallery pages.
3) On one of the layers of the MAIN SWF, there is a movie clip called "mySWFLoadingClip" that the "Main" Navigation buttons load and unload the main swf pages onto. These all work perfectly. The problem start on the next step. This is the code I used for the navigation buttons on the MAIN SWF timeline:

4) One of the external navigation SWF pages is called "portfolio_page_swf" and gets loaded into the "mySWFLoadingClip" moveclip on the MAIN SWF. This is where the problem begins. The "portfolio_page_swf" has six buttons that call out to an additional external swf from the galleries folder. Now when I open the "portfolio_page_swf" file to test out if the buttons work, they work perfect. When I click the buttons, the external swf gallery files show up like they should. But the problem is that when I open the "MAIN SWF" file to test out the site, I can click the Main Navigation buttons and they work. I click on the Portfolio button on the Main SWF time line, and it places the "portfolio_page_swf" onto the stage like it should, but when I click the buttons that are within the "portfolio_page_swf" the galleries don't show up. The buttons from the "portfolio_page_swf" page only work if I open the "portfolio_page_swf" file directly.

i am using this preloader to load load external swf files in my main.swf. it works great but it has a small issue regarding loading timing. when it gets to 100% and loads the external swf file the swf file as i suspect is loaded a little bit earlier than the % and when it shows up its already playing the 10th frame instead of the first frame. the code is below....

I have a modular movie format. All movies load into a shell/base movie. I have a video intro that loads into the loader component in an external movie. This movie in turn loads into the actual main movie.What I'm trying to figure out is when the video intro gets done playing, I want it to move to the the next frame (#3) so it can run a behavior I have there to load another movie in its place.I've tried the "on complete" with several variations to no avail.I have a button that will move you to the frame #3, but I want to make it happen automatically if I could.
View 8 RepliesI am creating a full site in flash. The main movie has an empty movie clip in the middle of the movie to load external movies as the user clicks on the links. Everything has worked good so far as the linking has only gone 1 level deep. However, when I created a new external movie, and had buttons on it for another external page, but yet to open in the main movie, I can't get anything to work. Example.... In the main movie, the user clicks on the archive link, and the external archive movie is loaded into the main movie. Now, on this archive movie, there is a button on it that links to a another movie (say text effects.swf). However, when they click this button for text effects, I can't get it to load into the main movie clip and replace the archive movie that was currenlty there.
View 14 RepliesI have two external swf files which I need to load to the main page of the website, one is the about page which consist mostly of text, the other is an image gallery.Both of them have the same intro animation at the beginning.
My problem is, while testing the main page using bandwidth profiler, the about page loads beautifully, while the image gallery plays its animation first before it even finalizes to load the whole page.
I have a home page in that their are 4 buttons which lead to 4 different pages, I essentially need mine to be able to click on a button and then have it go to that page, oh and Im working with Flash CS4 in AS3

Im have 5 swf files that I want to play one after another on my home page.
I would like to have the first movie load and play and while that is going on have the others downloading in the background so they are ready to start when the first movie finishes.
After the 5th and last movie has played I would like it then to return to the first movie and just loop this process continually.
I have attached what I have at the moment which is a file called demand.fla that uses buttons to load in demand001, demand002, deamd003 etc.
Ideally i would like demand to load in each slide automatically and then have flashmove onto the next one after 5 seconds or so.

I have the following to load swf files in my main movie. The first swf files that loads has a movie FLV file in it. When I unload that swf file, with the below, the swf seems to get removed, but the audio of that flv keeps playing. What do I have to do, to completely remove that swf file.

Im loading several swf files into my main movie, How do I load the swf's and have them display like:
swf1 | swf2 | swf2.. and so on?
- i have 3 separate movie clips (a,b,c)
- my main movie is (a) and when i click a button there, it will go to external movie (b)
- under external movie (b) there's a movie clip that includes my animation and content button
- if i click on the content button on movie (b), external movie (c) will pop up [ it will not replace movie (b) but will just overlap it, it's like a small pop up ]
i did the actionscript and when i'm testing external movie (b), it's working... it's showing/popping up movie (c) but when i tried it on the main movie (a), the movie (c) is not popping on the (b) err, sorry if it's a bit confusing / how i explained it. but hopefully somebody will get the idea. and it won't also return on the main movie (a) when i click on a link from the external movie.
