I am trying to validate for empty input text field on a button click.
mytext is a variable
inputvalue is variable name for the input text field

I want to check if an input text field is empty. I only managed to do it this way;
mytext = textfield.text;
if(mytext != "") .....
The problem with this approach is that I also want to exclude variables with whitespaces.
I tried; if(!isEmpty(mytext) )..... but that didnt work.
When I create an empty input text-field and compile, the curser starts at the 2'nd line when I click the text field! Is there a work-around to get the initial curser position at the top?
View 2 RepliesI'm working on a program that requires a random number between 320-370 to be generated. For the sake of this post, let's say the result is 345 (Figure A). That number is then divided by 1,000, which gives me 0.345, then the thousandths spot is removed via a *100--> round --> /100 technique, leaving 0.35 (Figure B). So, the whole point of generating these numbers is that they will later be used to evaluate what a user has entered into two input text boxes. If the number entered into Input Text A matches Figure A, correct, and if the number entered into Input Text B matches Figure B, correct.
Everything works perfectly EXCEPT when Figure B ends with the number 3 or 4 in the hundredths position. The Input Text B won't evaluate correctly, and I can't quite make sense of it. So, if Figure A is 331, Figure B becomes .33. User enters .33 into Input Text B, and it absolutely will not evaluate correctly. However, all other numbers in the hundredths spot seems to work fine.
You've seen those Input Text Fields on web sites that have titles on them, i.e. Name, Email, Message, in the Text field itself. Then, when you click on the the text field to type something in, the "title" disappears and you can type your info in. Perfect example: [URL] (Under "contact")

I created two buttons named button_B and button_G, and an input textfield named in_Text.when a student presses button_B, the letter "B" is entered into the input text field; if a student presses button_G, the letter "G" is entered into the input text field. More than one letter entry is acceptable as a student's answer: for exmple the entry BBB, BGB within the input field is okay.I have no trouble writing AS3 to accomplish this task, however:For a student's solution to the input text field to be correct, it has to contain the four values BBB, GGG, BGB, and GBG in any order. I created an array named solution_S with these values. I also have an enter the solution button named enter_btn. The student can check their solution by pressing the enter_btn button; if the input textfield is correct, the quiz moves on to the next frame in my timeline; if it is incorrect, it moves to a different frame in my timeline.

I have made an input text field which has in front of it a minus button. In another place I have a plus button. When I fill the text field my plus button becomes able and I can press it for another text field, an so on. My problem is when I press the minus button, because the fields have to rearrange and I don't know how to do that.

I have seen many tutorials dealing with logging in to PHP using flash but it requires you to make your own php scripts which i am not familiar with. View 2 RepliesI'm making a calculator using Flash MX that works the same way as the basic calculator found on windows (not the scientific one). But having the user input a number, store it as a variable, store which function the user wants to perform and clear the text field then store the new input in the same text field as a different variable and multiply or add or divide or subtract the 2 numbers and getting the equals sign to display the answer when clicked is harder than I thought it would be.

What I'm trying to do is to write something in an input field and then it should show up in a dinamic field. I can make this happen, but the problem is that the dinamic field shows its new text in the same format as the Input field. For example, the input text is written in TimesNewRoman and the dinamic text is in Arial, but when the dinamic text shows the input, the text is still in TimesNewRoman when I want it to be in Arial.

I make a textbox on frame one of my movie and embed a font called "Crazyface-Bold" into that textbox.Can I create an empty text field at runtime and assign it a font value of "Crazyface-Bold"? Would that work? The reason I ask is that I only need certain ranges and I don't want to embed a whole font into the library. Creating text fields on the fly is a must though.

I'm trying to dynamically create an empty text field with as at 560px wide, fill it with a bunch of text (one line) and continuously scroll it from left to right using hscroll and setInterval. I've read all kinds of specs about createTextField and hscroll but I can't get it to work. I ouputted the mytext.hscroll value and it's always at 0;
