I can't find a single tutorial that shows you how to add a download link to ur fla file. I got this snippet from the adobe file reference :

I want that my flash file on my website, can't be downloaded by anyone. Is there any way that i can do that? As Firefox and many browser has many add-ones which easily detect out flash content and after they can download the flash file?

I thought I could do this by creating a new URLRequest, but when i click it just opens a new window in Firefox. Here is the code I was using.

Okay, developing my first flash site with action script I have run into two problems I can't find fixes to via a kirupa search, one (which is not really an action script prop) is that I have created a text box that has a unique font in it, I look at it from another computer that does not have that font and I was surprised to see it was using times new roman, [is there a way to make my unique font viewable on all computers without making it a symbol?] next, I have a series of audio files on this site but I would also like the viewer to have the capabilities to download them, what is the code to allow this?

View 1 RepliesI am a novice Flash user as I have built one "members section" website using Flash CS4 (but used Actionscript 2).I am now in the process of learning ActionScript 3 and am working towards building a v2.0 of my original website. The original website uses a PHP authentication system, where a user logs in through a regular HTML page. Once authenticated, they are given the option to access the members section.I wish to eliminate the need to have our users log in through this HTML page as I wish this to be built directly into Members Section 2.0 however I haven't got slightest clue how to construct a users "login" function.
have users login (authenticate themselves) through the main page of this Flash project by the flash project referencing the MYSQL user names and password database. Additionally, there are three types of users that will be logging into this site (Status A users, Status B users and Status C users).
We need to protect various downloadable documents (Word files and PDF's) to ensure only those with the correct authentication are granted access to particular files. I.E. Status "A" users get access to everything, Status B users get access to almost everything and Status C users get access to very few files.
I assume the best method for this, is to store the files in three folders, once for each Status Class therefore Status A users will access files from the Status A folder, Status B users will only be able to access files from the "B" folder and so on. best method to protect these files from unauthorized access I.E. "C" users attempting to download a document that is only intended for "A" users?
I already made a game with flash, and I want to provide an easy download for people that would rather play offline. Thing is, i use a folder whole structure to dynamically load content per level. Folder structure looks like this, not that it matters that much[code]...
How should I go to distribute this? Should I just resort to make a zip file for the flash game and assume people know how to extract and open the swf? Is there any other way to port easily as an executable? Perhaps Adobe Air (not sure if this works though)?
is there any way, to hide the source of a flash in the sourcecode, so that the movie itsself is not downloadable, or better not to copy?

How can I remove / unload an external swf file from the main flash file and load a new swf file, while at the same time removing garbage collection from memory?
View 15 RepliesI am trying to write a class file using a .as file instead of writing code into the script tab of a .fla file.When I write stage.addChild(img); I get an error that stage is null. When I take out stage, and just write addChild(img); the code runs fine, but nothing appears on stage. Do I need to do something to set a stage active?
Is this because I don't have a Main class? My class is named after the file and I don't have a file named Main.Here is the code. As it is, it runs and I get the two trace outputs, but no graphic on my screen.

Which is preferred and why: keeping the AS in the Flash file itself, or linking to the .as with the Flash file. I've seen both done. Is it just a matter of preference?

I can can password protect the xml file to prevent changes, but I also wondered if there was a way to validate the authenticity of the xml file from within Flash to prevent the entire file being replaced?

In the application data is filled by user and saved in cookies so as to be available even when the user closes the application. However if new version of application is released the user can still access the older version saved in the cahe. How can it be assured that whenever a new version of application is released the application is loaded from the server and not from the cache and at the same time data saved in the older version (in cookies) can also be accessed in the new version.

The map works with if I use the .html file in my original folder but all the paths are relative and I'm trying to make this work in an ASP.NET MVC project using visual studio. The template is built under Flash and has .swf, .fla and html files and was setup on an html background. To make things look nice I decided to use an XML web template as a background to his template. The problem starts from there.The XML web template allows us to add our own SWF files, so I decided to add the swf file of my friend's template.
The swf file was set to "noscale" and when I imported it into the web template it didn't fit properly. So I took the "noscale" off from the actionscript and imported it again. Even then the scaling of the swf file was not correct.As soon as you load the file, it scales towards the left and not center.My question is how can I write a code within the fla file so that when the swf file is loaded it automatically centers itself?2nd question is how can I setup the dimensions of the file as in terms of height and width of the file without getting it cropped. I tried to set it up from 840x610 to 650x430 however the swf content got chopped off (even with noscale off).
I need to find a way to detect keystrokes when the flash file is not selected and send that information to an .swf file. The file would be stored locally (not on the internet).

is there a simple way to just pull back a true or false value from an associated javascript file to a flash file? here is what i have:

check_bins(img) is a function in my javascript file that simply iterates through an array, returning false if "img" is found. im simply trying to get the true or false value back into flash, but its not proving that simple. i added a couple alerts so that i could see what the "bincheck" value was, and i keep getting an 'undefined' value for "bincheck" in flash.
I have to make a project for school. It will be like a tutorial, but into an application. I already made a part of it in MXML and a bit of action script but I encountered a few problems that are over my newbie limits. So the Flex Builder 2 makes a SFW file, in the main folder of the "project". I want to make that SWF file my main executable file. I have a folder with some pics, and another folder with Action Script Files. The code lvl that I know atm is ABSOLUTE BEGINER... Next problem. I dont know how to make the Stage to be fix. I mean.. I dont want the stage to be resizeble. I tryed to change the stagescalemode but that wasn't it. I'm building a flash movie for something at work and im loading in some images using an XML file but when i use a preloader it only preloads the XML file (as in just the text inside) and not the images.
This causes the movie to start playing without having the images loaded.Does anyone have any ideas about how i could get it to preload the contents/images being called in the XML file so it doesn't run as soon as the XML file is loaded.

View 1 RepliesHaving got into flash about a year ago, I have a fairly good understanding of as3, but I have never had any reason to learn as2. For an upcoming project, we were looking to use Scaleform GFx, with the UDK. (Unreal Development Kit) Trouble is, Scaleform only supports as2. From what I've been told, as3 is supposed to be better in just about every way, so I really don't want to learn a language that?s most likely on the way out, if I have any other options.
Is there any converters out there, that can convert script from as3 to as2? Or another workaround possibility, since flash communicates with the UDK by means of just calling a function, could I create an as2 file that could dynamically load an as3 file?
