ActionScript 3.0 :: Anchor Works In SWF But Not When Embedded In HTML?
Nov 3, 2009
I have an anchor linked to sections of a HTML page. When I test my movie from flash and click a link to an anchor, it successfully opens my browser and takes me to section of the HTML page.But once I go back to the flash, now embedded in the browser the anchors dont work..
I made a flash mp3 player and it works fine in any other test pages. but when i embed it onto my site it just shows blank. what do i do? my site is [URL] and the flash player i tested here [URL] and it plays. What im i doing wrong? i tryed everything. right now i just got it in a iframe but i dont want that iframe.
would this be considered a bug in my code (AS3 and Tweener) or a problem with the SWF and its interaction with HTML?When I test the SWF in Flash, there's no breaking it.I can't break it at all works exactly like it's suppose to.When I embed it in Flash, it breaks in an odd way.I have two buttons, left and right. When the buttons are clicked, images on stage move in the direction they're clicked.When embedded, if I click a button really fast, the images start tripping over each other. Strange thing is, it's only to the left button and not the right, but the code is exactly the same for the right & left movement. If I click the buttons slowly everything works as expected.All of this while again everything works great in Flash itself. No errors.So, at the very least I'm trying to find out if this would be considered a but with my code or a problem with the browsers and the Flash player.
I want to have a flash movie on my web page, it will have some buttons with animations. Is there posiblle to jump somewhere in the same web page (anchor) if I press button in flash. How can I make button like that.
Flash is being used to create an animated button, and the anchor tag makes it so you can click on that to go to another page. On most browsers, you can click anywhere on the Flash object and the link works...but in Chrome, the link displays in the status bar when you hover over the flash element, but does nothing when you click it. However, there is a small area (about 19px) below the flash element where the link works.
How can I get this to behave the same way in Chrome as it is in other browsers?
I'm trying to use a button in Flash to jump to an anchor at the bottom of my php page. The swf is in a php pagetop include and the anchor is in a php pagebottom include. The code is:
btnNewsletter.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickHandlerContact); function clickHandlerNewsletter(event:MouseEvent):void { if(event.target == btnNewsletter) {
I would like to navigate to an html anchor from a flash menu. I use navigateToURL("#anchorName", "_self"). It work fine in IE 7, Firefox 2 and 3 but in safari the page reload. How can I prevent safari from reloading the page?
See how the URL is changing depending on how you are going inside the website sections? This is actually great because you can use the <BACK button of the browser in a flash app.
How can this, URL thing, be done? I hope the technique does not involve creating 8 different SWFs for the 8 sections of a site because that will not be actually a trick... It's defenitely something else looking at that "#" thing.
I have several AS3 flash movies embedded in html pages, and for whatever reason, when you tab through the page, when you get into the flash movie, you can't tab out. The tab just goes in a loop through the tabindex of the swf.
Is there a way that you can add a button or a little script in the swf, set it to the last in the taborder, and then make it set the focus on the page to a link/div/id/anchor in the html, (outside the swf)
Is it possible to have a link in Flash link to a different (named anchor) section of an HTML document? I suspect not but I imagine it may be doable with Javascript. Anyone know anything about this?

HTML version of a jump to a named anchor. Question is can you accomplish the same thing from a link in a swf?
i'm a novice to ActionScript but from failed Google function searches, i think i've choosen an advanced i hope possible task: how to read then apply bezier, anchor point and handle positions to different anchor points. What i need to do is precisely align a rectangular closed bezier path with a randomly shaped closed bezier path, both with the same number of anchor points.
The website I am designing is a single-page site which scrolls using jquery to anchor points on the page (instead of having separate html pages for each section) The intro section has a flash banner which alternates images of different sections of the site. I have used the following code to get these images to link to the relevant page section
I have a webpage that has two sections, vertically. First the flash swf, then immediately below a comments section. The swf uses all of the screen space, so visitors do not know there is a comments section on the webpage, unless they scroll the page down.In order to call visitor's attention to the comments section, I inserted in the swf a button that would make the webpage scroll down to the comments section, in the same fashion as the HTML code:[code]

We are building a flash website with cms at the back end, and we are allowing admin to put anchors inside a content. Later we created a smaller version of the whole content to display just a small part and then [read more] button. Which add a new layer on top of every thing acting like a popup and it is populated with complete content.
Now we would like to scroll that text inside popup to that portion which [read more] button was clicked.
The most common example inside HTMl is go to top link in footer on most of the sites which move the whole document to top.
If you go here and click on the animation link the skin at the bottom of the video is visible then fades away. If you navigate away from animation then come back the skin isn't there. I don't know why. Here's the code for the animation swf with the parts I think are relivern in bold:

I am trying to create an ad for a website. When someone clicks on the ad, it is supposed to redirect them to a website, and register the click with google analytics.I have done this with the following script:
import flash.external.ExternalInterface; movieClip_3.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick); function onClick(event:MouseEvent):void {
I've built a SWF with the top layer being an invisible button. As a test, I simply uploaded the file to the server and clicked it. Here is the URL where the file is located: [URL] When clicked anywhere, it should take you here: [URL] and it does. I sent the SWF to a third party vendor who have placed the masthead at the top of a page: [URL] which its on their server. When you mouse over the image, it appears clickable, but if you click it, no action takes place. It's the exact same file. Why is it working from one place, but not the other?
I've been working on redesigning our site for the past few day snow and I'm probably just getting tired/burnt out so I came here for some extra opinions and eyes. I have a flash file that will simply fade in and out logos of companies we've dealt with in the past and they are being pulled from XML so I can update it more easily later. Anyway, I bring it over to our developer machine and the SWF file works fine if I few it just as it is in the browser, however, the second I embed it, no matter what method I use (SWFobject, old school embed tags or whatever) it shows there's a flash file there but the XML is obviously not reading.
I've tried using relative and absolute paths (again only on a test server so the absolute path is a localhost path) and still nothing. Our site is dynamic, but the page its on, our default/index page, is pretty straightforward. Here's the online of our folders.
As you can see on [url]...the last part of the Flash movie seems to be broken. Oddly enough, when I take the embedded SWF and view it separately[url]...
I'm not a flash expert, I don't know what can go wrong with embedding etc. but the actual FLA file seems to be ok, the map layer that is coming through randomly at the end shouldn't even be there! The frames at this point of the timeline on this layer are actually empty.
I am using Flash CS5 but working on an old fla file from a few years ago (which uses an AS2 file as its code).I have to recompile the fla, because I changed a few tiny things in the AS code, so I saved it as CS5, recompiled and published...The original fla file embeds the font _sans, but it exports it twice (so the AS code could use it), each time with a different identifier.The problem is that only one identifier is working in the final swf. Text boxes that use other identifier do not show any text at all.So I guess there is a collision? Is it not allowed to export a single font twice with two different identifiers? How to solve this problem?Fla rules for embedding fonts might have changed since the old fla has been written... because its old swf did show text for both the identifiers.
I'm new to AS & Flash, but not programming in general. I've got a project where I'm needing to use embedded fonts. To save the size of my main .swf, I've been using the Loader class to import .swf files with the fonts embedded at runtime. The "font library" .swf files contain just the embedded font, and in frame 1 have
I have a movie clip that is a navigation window and I am trying to have some tooltip hover over the buttons inside the navigation window.
If I create a button on the main stage it hovers and works fine but if I create the same clip inside the embedded navigation window the tooltip does not show up. I do not have any error messages but it is not there that I can see.
I have created a program that pulls large amounts of data from an XML file. The program works absolutely perfect if I test it in Flash or open it in IE. The problem I have run into is that when I put the program into a webpage using the following code (neither one works), it no longer connects to the XML file. Am I missing something in the code?
I am developing an application in CS4/as3.0. Here I getting the contents or text from an external Text file(.txt). Also I have loaded it to a text Area or dynamic Text. I loaded the text file as HTML text. But the HTML tag is not works here... Here I have given my coding below.
Action Script Code: var wordList:Array = new Array(); var myloader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
I'm using a Loader to load an external image. And when I'm in flash and test the movie it works perfectly, but as soon as I publish it (creating a .html in the same folder, not uploading it online) it says that there's something wrong with the URL - still it works when I test the movie in flash! This is very irritating, because I have no idea what's causing this. What's even more strange is that I have this class inside my movie, that uses the exact same loader method - only it's used inside a class - and it WORKS published.
Here's the code:
Code: imageLoader = new Loader(); antalBildObjekt += 1; imageLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR,
I made this XML slideshow which I uploaded to my webserver. It works like a charm when I call the .swf file, but when I call the .html, it fails to load the photos and descriptions. It's almost as if it can't 'reach' the XML-file. Locally, both the .swf and the .html file work fine. I'm using a variable in the url (like [URL] to pass data to the XML, but I don't see why that wouldn't work on the html file...
I have a Flash widget that is reading from at XML and loading images into a viewer movie_clip, setting the current client from a FlashVar that corresponds to an XML item.The widget works perfectly when I use the code in an HTML file. (I'm using SWFObject to handle the Flash object.)But when the exact same code is in PHP (and this is happening both on my client's server and through MAMP on my localhost), many of the loaders are returning NULL objects.
Code: ... (this is a fragment of my XML loaded handler) ... // load images
