I've built a SWF with the top layer being an invisible button. As a test, I simply uploaded the file to the server and clicked it. Here is the URL where the file is located: [URL] When clicked anywhere, it should take you here: [URL] and it does. I sent the SWF to a third party vendor who have placed the masthead at the top of a page: [URL] which its on their server. When you mouse over the image, it appears clickable, but if you click it, no action takes place. It's the exact same file. Why is it working from one place, but not the other?
View 4 RepliesI've been working on redesigning our site for the past few day snow and I'm probably just getting tired/burnt out so I came here for some extra opinions and eyes. I have a flash file that will simply fade in and out logos of companies we've dealt with in the past and they are being pulled from XML so I can update it more easily later. Anyway, I bring it over to our developer machine and the SWF file works fine if I few it just as it is in the browser, however, the second I embed it, no matter what method I use (SWFobject, old school embed tags or whatever) it shows there's a flash file there but the XML is obviously not reading.
I've tried using relative and absolute paths (again only on a test server so the absolute path is a localhost path) and still nothing. Our site is dynamic, but the page its on, our default/index page, is pretty straightforward. Here's the online of our folders.

I'm not a flash expert, I don't know what can go wrong with embedding etc. but the actual FLA file seems to be ok, the map layer that is coming through randomly at the end shouldn't even be there! The frames at this point of the timeline on this layer are actually empty.
I have an anchor linked to sections of a HTML page. When I test my movie from flash and click a link to an anchor, it successfully opens my browser and takes me to section of the HTML page.But once I go back to the flash, now embedded in the browser the anchors dont work..

When the buttons are clicked, images on stage move in the direction they're clicked.When embedded, if I click a button really fast, the images start tripping over each other. Strange thing is, it's only to the left button and not the right, but the code is exactly the same for the right & left movement. If I click the buttons slowly everything works as expected.All of this while again everything works great in Flash itself. View 1 RepliesI am using Flash CS5 but working on an old fla file from a few years ago (which uses an AS2 file as its code).I have to recompile the fla, because I changed a few tiny things in the AS code, so I saved it as CS5, recompiled and published...The original fla file embeds the font _sans, but it exports it twice (so the AS code could use it), each time with a different identifier.The problem is that only one identifier is working in the final swf. Text boxes that use other identifier do not show any text at all.So I guess there is a collision? Is it not allowed to export a single font twice with two different identifiers? How to solve this problem?Fla rules for embedding fonts might have changed since the old fla has been written... because its old swf did show text for both the identifiers.

I have a movie clip that is a navigation window and I am trying to have some tooltip hover over the buttons inside the navigation window.
If I create a button on the main stage it hovers and works fine but if I create the same clip inside the embedded navigation window the tooltip does not show up. I do not have any error messages but it is not there that I can see.
I have a movie clip (with instance name rectangle_mc) on the stage. Within this movie clip there are two separation animations on the timeline. The ROLL_OVER animation starts on frame "over" and the MOUSE_OUT animation starts on frame "off." If I roll over the movie clip, the initial animation plays, and when I mouse out the other animation plays to restore it to it's initial state. However, once the rollover animation has played once, it will not play again when I roll over it again, but for some reason the MOUSE_OUT plays every time.

I have an embedded font in my AIR/AS3 app that lacks support for most internationalcharacters. Using TextField and StyleSheet with the font-family property, I assumed I would simply need to do this:font-family: Interstate-Regular, _sans;This works if TextField.embedFonts = false; but then Interstate-Regular isn't embedded for users that don't have it on their system. With TextField.embedFonts = true; the text doesn't even show up. Is there a way to embed Interstate-Regular and still use _sans as a fallback system font without embedding it as well?

It is important that the embedded language interpreter run natively in the environment it is embedded into. For example, it cannot load any external C libraries (i.e. python, neko).
Does such a thing exist for these two languages? Perhaps there is some minimal interpreter that could be easily ported to both?
I have some AS3 code that reads multiple xml files.On a Mac it runs fine.On a PC it runs in firefox and chrome, but not in IE9.It loads and hangs. I've been working on a flash animation with some actionscript 3, which basically is the main.swf that calls upon 5 other swf and txt files that I am embedding into a web template. It all works fine on my mac but when I test on a pc I am able to call upon the other swfs and it pops up but the close button does not work. I assume that it has something to do with my actionscript with the children swf. But just in case I will show both.[code]

But I guess it must run on FP 10, snice I was thinking to implement this in an AIR for Android application. On the stage I got a button with the instance name of: submit. In the library I have a MovieClip with the linkage of: radioButton. This MovieClip is just to frames with different grafics. It is supposed to work like a checkbox or a radiobutton.

I finished my website and uploaded to internet. And when I showed friends that use IE7, Chrome or any other browser besides Firefox it failed to work. I have created a program that pulls large amounts of data from an XML file. The program works absolutely perfect if I test it in Flash or open it in IE. The problem I have run into is that when I put the program into a webpage using the following code (neither one works), it no longer connects to the XML file. Am I missing something in the code?

I have a simple event listener which calls a functions which first uses a switch case statement to determine what evt.target was pressed by name so I can assign info there--presently I just have trace statements--the problem is that it only works once and then I just get instance29 and the switch case evaluates to the default.

I can only run a timer.start(); command once, the second time it will only run once instead of the value of 10 repeat.

I want to be able to have the score add the ten points one at a time rather than all at once. It works fine the first time ten points are added, but the second, third, fourth, etc time it only adds one point then stops. How can I get the timer to work more than once?
In The Flash Application, my gallery is working as it is meant to. Yet, when I upload the swf to the live site, the first image, text and movie of my gallery works but it refuses to scroll to the next item in my XML.
I have given it an absolute path to that server which works in Flash but not when it is online.
OKay, I have a drop down menu. Around the menu I have a button surrounding the outside, so when I roll away from the drop down menu and roll over the outline button, it is coded with action script to make the drop down menu fade away.

View 2 RepliesTrying to recode map program to utilise modest map rather than original hand made map routines. Finished up yesterday and had squashed bugs pretty much(annoying flicker issue but that didn't appear on another web browser I figure it's flash/browser related issue). Then I realised I need to try this in IE as well. And it doesn't work. Map loads up so modest map code is working. What is NOT working is everything else. It's supposed to track locations and draw arrows to their positions.
It doesn't go to where it's supposed to initially. No arrows are drawn. No control buttons from HTML side work. Nothing. Zip. I have suspicion it could be the ExternalInterface which works differently on firefox and IE. Could that be reason? If so how does one go detecting what browser I am using and how does one need to take that into account? Or is there something else that's different between IE and firefox I need to take into account?
IE itself only gives rather mystified error message.
