Looking at the attached file, why does bottomScrollV give me the wrong value when the text is dynamically embedded and correct when manually embedded?

I have combed through the forums and read every font embedding article I could find and still I don't understand what's going on. I have created a simple test case that I have attached to this post. Hopefully someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong.Here's the situation ...ultimately, my goal is to be able to dynamically create text fields with embedded fonts (I'm using Arial or Arial Unicode) that can display a variety of languages (English and Russian are the primary ones I'm working on right now). In the attached sample, I have added a font to the library and set it to use Arial Unicode.I have 3 text fields on the stage: Field 1 is generated entirely from code using createTextField, Field 2 is a design-time text field that uses the embedded library font, and Field 3 is a design-time text field that uses basic Arial rather than Arial Unicode.For the 2 design-time fields I have embedded the glyphs necessary to display English and Russian as well as some others.I also have a few buttons on the stage to create the 3rd text field (using createtextfield), send english or russian text to all 3 fields, and turn embedding on/off of the generated text field.
Here are the results I've found:With embedding OFF:English shows up fine in all 3 text fields (in the generated one, it uses the system default font instead).Russian shows up in the generated field and in the 3rd field (basic Arial) but NOT in the field that uses the embedded library font.With embedding ON:NOTHING shows up in the generated text field the 2 design time fields function the same as they did before.I REALLY don't understand why the design-time text field doesn't work when it uses the library version of the font. Why should that matter? I also don't get why even ENGLISH doesn't work in the generated field when embedding is on.
//EDIT: I just tried using Arial as the font for the generated text field rather than using the linkage name for the library font and now the embedding works. So I guess my main question is why it doesn't work using the library font....I thought that using the library font .
I'd like to gain read only access to the following parameters of embedded Flash videos located on sites that I do not own through my own custom browser extension/add-on:
Time location of playback head (so I can display the current time in the browser extension via HTML5/JavaScript) Frames (so I can make capture them to an image file, save it and display image in browser extension) Original Dimensions in pixels (so I can display the original video dimensions via JS/HTML5 in browser extension)
Is this possible by using Javascript and HTML5 from a browser extension?
Would I have to use something like the SWFObject Javascript API [URL]
I made a flash mp3 player and it works fine in any other test pages. but when i embed it onto my site it just shows blank. what do i do? my site is [URL] and the flash player i tested here [URL] and it plays. What im i doing wrong? i tryed everything. right now i just got it in a iframe but i dont want that iframe.
View 1 RepliesI have a swf doing some javascript calls. It works fine if the swf object is embeded as part of html. When creating it thru javascript, the code doesn't work. I've tried back &forth for a while, no luck. attached my code snippet below,

First off, I'm rather n00b at AS3 so I'm sorry if this is a terrible question. I've searched and can't find direct reference/solution to this exact issue. My Problem: I'm trying to embed all my pertinent graphics within a class("Assets.as") which will have a static method to retrieve these embedded graphics by name.

I have a movie with multiple languages. Most of the fonts used are embedded. What I've been doing is creating a new MovieClip for each language and in that movie clip assigning a font that can display that language, then depending on the language, load the appropriate MovieClip. I wonder though if there is a way to just change the font dynamically. However, it would be changing from one embedded font to another.
Would it be efficient to just make one generic text MovieClip with a certain font in it, then just title the movie clip by the font, and load that movie clip whenever I want to use that font?

I have tried this for a couple of days. I created a swf object in window.onload (also tried load it directly), call an as function from js. statically embedded swf works for both IE8 and FF, FF also fine for dynamically loading. externalinterface.call("echo", "as returns " + b); always shows "as returns false".

Since I only need numbers, can I limit dynamically embedded fonts to only numerals, periods, dashes and special characters copied from the character map?

Using TextField and StyleSheet with the font-family property, I assumed I would simply need to do this:font-family: Interstate-Regular, _sans;This works if TextField.embedFonts = false; but then Interstate-Regular isn't embedded for users that don't have it on their system. With TextField.embedFonts = true; the text doesn't even show up. Is there a way to embed Interstate-Regular and still use _sans as a fallback system font without embedding it as well?

The problem is that text is being wrapped around an image. How can I get the text to be displayed under the inserted image?
So, I have some basic actionscript code. It's a legacy site, so I'm using AS2. The line of code simply does this:
myField.text = "some text"
So, I select the text field on the stage, then ensure the font is embedded. All the glyphs I want are checked, but then when I compile and test, the fonts don't show up when the code is executed. Instead, the textfield is blank! What happened?! Where did the text go?
I should mention that the .swf which I compile is loaded into another parent .swf during runtime. If that parent .swf does not contain embedded fonts, is that why it's broken?
I'm looking for a embedded language that can be used to script common code between a server app written in C# and a client app written in Flash/Actionscript. It is important that the embedded language interpreter run natively in the environment it is embedded into. For example, it cannot load any external C libraries (i.e. python, neko).
Does such a thing exist for these two languages? Perhaps there is some minimal interpreter that could be easily ported to both?

Just set the htmlText as something like "<font face='Myriad Web Pro'><b>BOLD</b></font>" and you're done.hs issue is, why does it not render the bold text without the font tag in the first place, if I have already set the font of the TLF text in the PI?

After a lot of trial and error I found the latter of the two to be right until I checked out 2advanced's site and noticed that they (I'm assuming) are doing they same thing as me as far as embedding their swf's so it looks POSSIBLE..

I'm using a text format to display text as 20 point Arial, and on the text field, I tell it to embed the font. This should work since every windows system has Arial. But the text doesn't show up...

I have a series of dynamic text fields that do not show text when published. The fonts for these text fields are embedded and I do not get any errors on publishing. The project worked perfectly in CS4, but now in CS5, I had to re-embed all of the fonts in the dynamic text fields, but they won't show. What could be the problem?

These fields use embedded fonts and work when I first add text and the format to themThe issue I'm having happens when I change the _alpha of the containing movieClip to 0. After that I can not get the text to appear again, even though the _alpha on the containing clip traces out to 100.I am not using the tween class on the textFields or containing clip to achieve the _alpha. I am however using the tween class elsewhere.

This SWF is a Flash 10 file and contains a textField where the contents are then displayed.I want to display the text as htmlTest so i can have it formatted. However, without embedding fonts, the htmlText is jagged and unprofessional.Though it is a pain to figure out, I am able to embed fonts and display regular dynamic textField text, however i have not been able to a) embed fonts and b) display htmlText without the text disappearing.

Every time you click a button on the menu it changes the text and the image to correspond with that xml file. So here is my problem. When you click on a button it first tries to load all the text then resizes it in order to accommodate the image causing this "flicker" effect everytime you click. [URL]
