Mar 16, 2009is it possible to blend an image over other images in flash? like if I wanted pictures to scroll behind a color gradient... here's what I'm working on: effect done in photoshop, but I what to achieve it in flash)See how the images blend with the colors behind? so when I click the right arrow and the images slide over, I want the overlay to effect them. like the pinkish/red image on the right needs to be greenish when it is displayed on the left side. I could perhaps do it with a gradient in flash (though I'm not sure how), but it would be better if I could use a png file for the color overlay so it matches better

Feb 11, 2012I'm trying to achieve an effect similar to the Overlay blend mode between two layers in photoshop in Flash. It sounds simple enough, but BlendMode.OVERLAY produces a distinctly different result than what is seen in photoshop using the same two images. I was wondering if anyone knows a good way to mimic Photoshop's overlay.

Dec 5, 2008I am trying to create a custom blend mode much like the blur blend in Windows Vista, where all the of the contents in the windows behind the one on top are blurred. (I hope you understand what I mean.) I would like to accomplish this using a pixel bender effect, naturally. Unfortunately I can't get any kind of blurring (or for that matter, any image distortion at all) to work when I use a pbj file as a blend mode. These kinds of effects work fine as a filter, and seem to work fine in the toolkit as well, but don't seem to work at all in flash as a blend mode. it seems that flash doesn't allow you to sample any points except the current x and y that it is working on when used as a blend.[code]

The trace works fine and shows a random blend mode, but the blend mode isn't actually applied visibly. I apply the blend mode in the same way to an image loaded from the library, and it works perfectly. I don't know why this isn't working... Is there any way to have the blend mode actually apply?
I figured out a way around this problem. I just added a movie clip inside of "two" and loaded the image into that, still applying the blend mode to two.
ActionScript 2.0 :: Blend Mode Overlay Not Applied After Loading A Swf?
Dec 27, 2010I have a swf that is loaded with moviecliploader class onto a container empty mc.
The problem is, some stuff on the loaded swf contains a blend mode overlay + alpha animation. When it's loaded .... the overlay mode is just aparently ignored! >_<
I guessed it's maybe because the overlay thing is in one swf and the background is on the other, so i tried setting the overlay with with onLoadInit ... :

Nov 17, 2010I wanted to make a video player that has normal mode and fullscreen mode. The part I am having trouble understanding is how to handle the video once it gets set to fullscreen. Do I just use the current video or do I get a high quality version of the video to show during fullscreen mode? What would be best practice for this situation?

Apr 10, 2011I am streaming flash video and the dimension of the video is 1280 by 720 (same size as the stage)
but just before the video streams, there is a quick flash of the video (about 320px by 240px) at the top corner of the stage, and then it plays the videos at the correct size (which is 1280 by 720) .... a quick flash is the best way I can explain it.

Users will browse and play all shared videos as well.The videos will be streamed from the server and our app is a .NET/C#/JQuery application.We have 3 options:
1) Either buy a commercial flash player
2) Customize a open source player or use free player and customize its gui
3) Develop our own (time consuming and last resort)
I am required to find a flash video player with these requirements:
Player should work in all major browsers (IE, FF, Chrome, Safari)
Player should have way to inject Advertisement clips when playing a video file
Light weight and easy to integrate
Must support streaming and scale
Plus all other basic features of a flash video player.

Movie Mode Button Available On Importing Video
Jul 3, 2009When I import flv video on Flash CS4, I have a option to choose a skinning. When I choose SkinUnderAll, a lot of contorl buttons are available including full screen mode button. However, it does not include movie mode button. I am not exactly sure if it is called movie mode button. When you press it, a video clip will be displayed in center and surrounding area become transparent black. How can I obtain such a button?

Sep 10, 2010I have a M4V video file embedded in a Flash movie, and I need to play the Flash movie at full screen using the Macintosh Projector format. When the Flash file is done in Actionscript 2, everything appears as it should, but if the Flash file is done in Actionscript 3 (which this particular needs, since it uses armatures), then the video fills up the whole screen and hides everything else. I figured out how to prevent the video from scaling to fit the screen (set the scaleMode parameter to "noScale"), but it still shows the video in the center of a black screen. How can I get it to stop messing with the file and just play the @#$! video where I put it?

Apr 22, 2010I'm having an issue with an FLV video playback in a scene. When I go to fullscreen mode, I seem to lose the ability to adjust the video object.
I am loading a new video via FLVPlayerback(). Since the video is being loaded into the scene on top of everything else, I use swapChildren() to put my button back on top of the video. When the video is done playing, I removeChild() the video.
This works in the normal playstate.
However, if I am in fullscreen mode, swapChildren() and removeChild both do not work. If I exit fullscreen mode, they are indeed working.
Flash Video : Full Screen Mode And Captions?
Jan 27, 2009I am using an flvplayback component and an flvplaybackcaption component to create a video with captions read from an external xml file. The captions from the xml are read into a dynamic text box just below the video player. I am using a default Flash skin with full screen and caption icons.Upon entering full screen mode, the captions default to play at the bottom of the video, just above the video controls - which is just what I want.
However, if I turn off captions in full screen mode, and then exit full screen mode, I no longer have control of captions when not in full screen mode. IE, I cannot get captions back on after exiting full screen mode, and the caption button in the skin becomes useless. If I re-enter full screen mode and enable captions, then when I exit full-screen mode, I have my normal usage of captions.

Sep 11, 2011I've always been frustrated when I use the FLV video player component because it does not create the full-screen button For example, I have a 1280x720 F4V video. I want to use the FLV component to play it. But I want it to be on the stage half that size (640x360) and then give viewer option to click full screen to play it at 1280x720 (like YouTube does).So I'm basically stuck with the same old player controller that flash CS4 generates with no full screen capability.

Ihave no problem doing that but I need it to perform in a such a waythat only video scales to the full screen while other objects(player controls) remain unscaled. If I just go to the fullscreenmode - everything on the stage is scaled up naturally.Playing with the full screen features I could come up withthe only solution which is to calculate a scaling factor (based on,say, stage.width and stageWidth) and adjust player controlsdimensions and position accordingly.Is it the best way to preserve objects sizes or there is abetter technique?I hoped that because each display object has it's own stageand I could show full screen only video by doing something like:
_video.stage.fullScreenSourceRect = screenRectangle;
_video.stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;
but it still expands all the objects.
FLV Video Compression / Streaming?
May 12, 2009Got a large file 12 minutes long clip and I compressed it with the adobe optimization program adobe media encoder. I got a 350 megbite file to be 60 megabites as a 320X240. I choose also a medium size video file. How do I keep the video quality and stream it (like hulu would do) or how do I compress it smaller than 60 megabites and keep the same quality. Either or. I am not familiar with web video so I am trying to make the file as small as I can in size with the most amount of quality.

Jul 23, 2009I'm new to the streaming video world but I do have FMS 3.5 up and running and have encoded some wmv and mp4 videos to flv using adobe encoder CS4. I followed the tutorials and have created the swf files in flash CS4 and the videos are streaming as expected.
The primary issue I am having is the videos tend to be choppy at times. They pause, run slowly, audio pops and just overall; glitchy. Typically at the beginning but some times throughout. The test files at the FMS admin page stream fine without issue from the same server. We have tested the site/streams from multiple providers all at cable modem speed or above.
We are running FMS 3.5 developer version and wish to purchase the full version but I really need to fix this issue to prove it's value.As a bit of background we are running/testing FMS 3.5 from a server with the following specs:Redhat EL 4.6-32 SuperMicro X7DBU Intel Xeon QuadCore DualProc Sata [2Proc] Intel Xeon-Harpertown 5420-Quadcore [2.5GHz] OEM 4GB ECC FB-DIMM DDR2 Mainboard Onboard SATAII Controller (2) Western Digital WD Caviar RE 16 WD2500YS Uplink speed 10 (Mbps) Bandwidth allotment 2000 GB(Virtual Private Rack)
