I have an array of strings to set them into the combo box, a drop down combo box. I will select an element in the drop down combo box and press the button "delete". It will delete the element from the combo box. but when I come to the last combo box, im unable to delete it off because it does not get pass this line.[code]...

View 3 RepliesRight now I'm in the process of building a drum machine in Flash. The interface is based off of combo boxes and data that I load into the combo boxes. Depending on what you choose in the combo box, a sound should play at a certain interval. I have that part working perfectly. When you click the element of the combo box, the sound plays, and my set interval function calls.
Now the problem I am having is actually clearing the setInterval everytime you change the element in the combo box. I am using a listener set up to find when the combo box changes, I know it has something to do with when I clear the interval, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to clear it when the listener is called.
Here is the listener function I am using to call setInterval:

outside of the listener, and then took away the 'var', from in front of dbInt1 = setInterval..... and it works perfectly. It seems like a really weird way to do that though, and doesn't seem like it would be in good coding practice to do that.
So I want to use some functions that only work if a word in an array is present.
The pseudocode would be something like this

Right now I've got a for loop going which loops through the array that has stored the movie clip instances, presumably the hitTestObject would eventually get a hit...But this doesn't work, especially inside an event handler where when I press the right arrow on my keyboard.

type_elt is not an element name; it might be <single>, <multiple> or something else, determined at runtime. How, given this, can I detect the presence of the opt_out_flag element?
I tried this (where xml refers to the question element):

but even in cases without opt_out_flag the above expression returns true. Obviously I'm missing something, but what is it?
I've written the following method (in actionscript 3, it's a flash application) which returns what transformation type is required for the current mouse position in relation to a given element position.

I have two combo boxes. The first combo box's data is added through an XMLConnector object, the second combo box, I would like to populate through an on (change) event in the first combo box. The items in the second combo box would relate to the selection made in the first combo box.

I know that there is no such function as getElementByName in Flex but I also now that you can do this["object_id"] to get the element of the application u're in.What about getting an element inside another element?I've tried making element["id"] ? Please let me know what approach should i take to do that. can i call a Java method on donload button which will insert a row in the table and and then get the count and render it to the count variable in my flash?
May be this extremely confusing. Here is a very similar example on how it is done. This is actually very similar to what i want to do. [URL] on this link there is count below which increments you hit the download button.

Basically I have 14 text boxes, each box draws its content from an external txt file. Next to each text box is a button. I want the button to be either visible=true or visible=false depending on weather or not the text box has content or is "undefined" Here is what I have so far, and it's not working:[code] I would like a FOR loop to just run through the variables and check to see if any of them are undefined. if it is, then make the correct send button invisible.

I am having a problem with my drop traget. I have the ability to drop and duplicate multiple objects on a stage. I have a clip set up (canvas) which is used for if someone drops objects onto this it duplicates the dragged clip.
However the problem I am having is that if someone tries to drop an element on top of an already drop/duplicated element, it wont duplicate the new clip. Its like it thinks that the dragged clip is not over the canvas.
I have a combo box in swf B which I load in swf A.1: If I test swf B the combo box fills ok and expands ok. If I test swf A which loads swf B the combo box appears with data in it. But it does not expand.

I am simulating a form that my audience needs to fill out. For 2 text fields, I am using a combo box to allow them to select the proper input. If they leave the form screen, I need to save their answers so they do not have to start from the beginning. I am using global variables.
My problem occurs, when I try to populate the combo box using the audience's previously selected response. I have tried using setSelectedIndex. It works to the extent that the choice indicated highlights in the combo box, but the actual selection is not appearing in the text area. Do I need to set Combobox.text = selection?

I am working on a project with Flash 8 AS2. I am trying to connect a ComboBox and some radio Buttons to a SQL DB.
I have managed to connect some text fields with loadVariables and send them to php (to be read with $_POST) and then send them to Flash with echo "&variable".$variable;. SO I am using only php to make the connection, no XML or other things.
The problem is that I don't know how to make some radio buttons and ComboBox to communicate with the sql DB.
Is there a way to add an empty value to a combo box. For instance, when a user clicks the combo box but then decides to not select anything?
View 5 RepliesWhat i need to do is, In Flash (FlashMX, CS3 or CS4) I need to place 2 combo boxes. by default the 1st one will be enabled and the 2nd will be disabled. First combo box will have country names and the 2nd will have state names. when a user selects the country name from the 1st combo box, the 2nd shuld then get enabled. and when a user selects the state from the 2nd combo box, there will be button next to it for clicking. on clicking the button, the values in each combo box shuld be selected and the user will be taken to a specific URL which will have the contents on current selected state in the current selected country.
