ActionScript 3.0 :: Pre-select Element In Drop Down Combo Box?
May 26, 2011
I have a dropdown combo box that contains numbers 1 to 10. Normally it will show '1' when the application starts, but how do I set it in AS3 to show '3' instead?
I am having a problem with my drop traget. I have the ability to drop and duplicate multiple objects on a stage. I have a clip set up (canvas) which is used for if someone drops objects onto this it duplicates the dragged clip.
However the problem I am having is that if someone tries to drop an element on top of an already drop/duplicated element, it wont duplicate the new clip. Its like it thinks that the dragged clip is not over the canvas.
Flex 4 Combobox is extended with a Text Input that helps in getting to the item that is searched for.I have created a Check Box as an itemrenderer for this Flex 4 Combobox. I would like to Add a Select All and Select None options in the drop down of the Combobox. I know that i could accomplish by editing the dropdownfactory in case of a Flex 3 Combobox. But in Flex 4 the dropdownfactory doesnt exist.
I have an array of strings to set them into the combo box, a drop down combo box. I will select an element in the drop down combo box and press the button "delete". It will delete the element from the combo box. but when I come to the last combo box, im unable to delete it off because it does not get pass this line.[code]...
Right now I'm in the process of building a drum machine in Flash. The interface is based off of combo boxes and data that I load into the combo boxes. Depending on what you choose in the combo box, a sound should play at a certain interval. I have that part working perfectly. When you click the element of the combo box, the sound plays, and my set interval function calls.
Now the problem I am having is actually clearing the setInterval everytime you change the element in the combo box. I am using a listener set up to find when the combo box changes, I know it has something to do with when I clear the interval, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to clear it when the listener is called.
Here is the listener function I am using to call setInterval:
[Code]...
outside of the listener, and then took away the 'var', from in front of dbInt1 = setInterval..... and it works perfectly. It seems like a really weird way to do that though, and doesn't seem like it would be in good coding practice to do that.
I'm currently making a flash form and it consists of several combo boxes.I placed a combo box on stage and specified the drop down values at the component inspector (for both its data and label). When I test the movie within flash, it works perfectly! however when i load the .swf into the browser, the combo box doesn't work.
I have a swf with a combo box in it (not created dynamicall). All is when I publish and run the swf by doing ctrl+enter.
When I publish and double click the swf to test all is well
However when I upload the combox box doesn't allow me to click and get the drop downs to appear. A green glow appears around the component when I click on it - so I think its getting focus
I have tried using form.howFind_cmb.enabled=true (which I know is pointing correctly)
What do I need to do to get the combo box to work?
I'm looking for an example of having the selection that a user makes for one combo box determine the options the user sees in a 2nd combo box.For example, if combo box 1 is State and combo box 2 is County, then if the user selects Wisconsin for State, combo box 2 will display only the counties that are in Wisconsin.Assume that the values for State and County are coming in from an xml data file.
In most browsers, when you have one in focus and you type something, the combobox will try to find the value within its options and show the closest one. I was wondering what kind of algorithm is used for that.I don't think its Levenshtein or similar since it only works with the beginning of the string.I'm thinking that it works by keeping a buffer of what has been written, and tries to find a string starting with that... if it doesn't find anything, it clears the buffer, and searches a string beginning with the last character pressed.I already prototyped this, and it works quite ok, with one caveat... In HTML, when you repeatedly press the same key, it will rotate between all options starting with that character.
I would like make a script for Greasemonkey (GM),that find and navigate in a link embed in a flash element.I think that is possible to make it to work with function .click() ,but won't work Here's the source code of the page that contains flash elements..

I have a combo box in my application. I also have a variable called "Status". I want the combo box to be enabled only when the value of the Status variable is 5 or 6. Otherwise, I should not be able to change the value in the combo box. It should have the previous value only.. I had written a click event to disable the combo box. But even though the combo box is disabled, I get the drop down list of the combo box, and If I select some othe value in the drop down,it changes..Only after that it gets disabled.
Suppose, that I need to have a HTML control inside my Flex/AIR app. The user should be able to click somewhere into the currently rendered HTML-page and the flex app should know, which DOM element the user clicked. Ideally, the app would be able to retrieve the DOM path of the selected element. Posting back the innermost surrounding DIV-element to some Flex/AIR method would be fine too.
In Flex Mobile I have a few buttons in the action bar. On devices with very small screen (such as the HTC Wildfire) not all buttons can be shown. Is there a way to tell Flex to hide an element when it doens't fit? I know it is possible by using states and test the width of the screen but I hope there is another way..
Here's the code that allows multi-select list to drag into a tree area. What I would like to do is to change the alpha of the image that gets dragged around. I've done some research but most of the discussions out there talk about how to change the dragged image. What I want to do is simply change the default alpha of the dragged item from 0.5 to say 0.2. Also this solution should be able to handle multiple select dragging.
Below is a simple example of drag and drop that I would like to modify to allow for the alpha change of the draged item.
i'm trying to repopulate a list when you select a new category from a drop down component.
So far i can populate the category drop down and i can also populate the list box from a default dir but i can't seem to get the list to change when you select a new category.
this is the category script that populates the drop down (this is working fine except that when i change the category i want the list box (bgList) to repopulate with the new location files):
i have TileList from which i'm dragging some stuff(image) to Tree (something like dragging sounds into playlist in iTunes), but when i can drop this stuff, i see only underline, this mean i can drop it only under or above some leaf-element in that Tree. How can i force it to hide this black underline and highlight leaf-element to which i wanna drop my stuff.
It's a Submit Form (name, age, etc...)If I have 4 font types embeded (eg. Arial / Varadana / Comic Sans / Eras) how can I create a drop down list of the fonts where anyone could select - change (runtime) the FONT TYPE by clicking the name?
The problem I'm having is trying to figure out a way so that the "data2" will fill the text field "hint_txt" on ROLL_OVER of that items name in the list.I've tried to placing an event listener into the function that populates the combo box .this populates the combo box label and data with the Loaded XML File. This works
function changeHandler(ev:Event):void { menuText_mc.heading1_txt.text = ev.currentTarget.selectedItem.label;[code]......
I have two combo boxes. The first combo box's data is added through an XMLConnector object, the second combo box, I would like to populate through an on (change) event in the first combo box. The items in the second combo box would relate to the selection made in the first combo box.
I have attempted the following within the Actions for the first combo box:
on(change) { switch(this.value) { case "value1": comboBox2.addItem({Label:"Label",Data:"Data"}); break; } // end switch } // end event
which is not working.
should an event be dispatched by comboBox1 and a listener be attached to comboBox2? I can't find any examples of this on the internet.. but i might be using the wrong search terms.
I have a comboBox and values like basic and advanced. And viewstack container conatains 2 grids. When i select the base option in Combobox, the first grid has to be selected. select the advanced value in comboBox, the second grid has to be selected.
I know that there is no such function as getElementByName in Flex but I also now that you can do this["object_id"] to get the element of the application u're in.What about getting an element inside another element?I've tried making element["id"] ? But in my try-catch it always runs the "catch" part..how do I get an element inside another element just having it's id in dynamically created string form?
I have flash where there is a link for song download. And, at the bottom of the flash I've a count, loaded thorugh flash vars which should increment everytime donload button is hit. Please let me know what approach should i take to do that. can i call a Java method on donload button which will insert a row in the table and and then get the count and render it to the count variable in my flash?
May be this extremely confusing. Here is a very similar example on how it is done. This is actually very similar to what i want to do. [URL] on this link there is count below which increments you hit the download button.
I've built a rather robust tooltip class recently that attaches and draws a single tooltip sprite to the root, then uses MOUSE_OVER to detect when it is over a tooltippable object, and shows the appropriate tooltip text. At the moment, I'm ensuring that any elements in my application which wants to take advantage of showing tooltips implement the ITooltippable interface, and expose a public getter, get tooltip().
Basically I have 14 text boxes, each box draws its content from an external txt file. Next to each text box is a button. I want the button to be either visible=true or visible=false depending on weather or not the text box has content or is "undefined" Here is what I have so far, and it's not working:[code] I would like a FOR loop to just run through the variables and check to see if any of them are undefined. if it is, then make the correct send button invisible.
this["nodeValue"+i] = new TextField(); (surely in dynamic class )
then I want to change instance name of that element.when I trace this["nodeValue"+i].name.I got a different name for that element ! f ex : instance8 .how can I get "nodeValue"+i from my element and change that .is it read only ? I want to swap tow element's instance name !
for example : this["nodeValue"+i] to this["nodeValue"+i+1]
