Flex :: Tree Leaf-element Highlighting While Drag&drop?

i have TileList from which i'm dragging some stuff(image) to Tree (something like dragging sounds into playlist in iTunes), but when i can drop this stuff, i see only underline, this mean i can drop it only under or above some leaf-element in that Tree. How can i force it to hide this black underline and highlight leaf-element to which i wanna drop my stuff.
I'm having difficulty getting checkboxes on only the leaf nodes of a tree.Before anyone links it, I've seen [URL] and this isn't exactly what I need. I don't want a 3-state checkbox system including both branch and leaf.I understand applying the checkbox item renderer to a data grid but not on a tree.
I've created an mxml page that displays a tree control, however the data is only being displayed as branches. i gave the tree an ArrayCollection as dataprovider that i pulled from the database, and it contains the children, but the discloser icon wont disappear on an object that doesn't have a child.i think the problem is that the renderer doesn't recognize the leaf child, wich contains a children array of length 0, or null......
I have an AdvancedDataGrid tree with a ArrayCollection as its dataprovider. Now, for instance, i drag a leaf from one node to another node. To catch the event I'm adding a Listener to dragComplete.

My Problem: I want to know the new node where the leaf was dropped. Actually i would have expected that in the event there is a property like dropParent. This is not the case.
I am trying to create basically a puzzle in Flex Builder 3. I display images from an array onto a canvas that can be dragged and dropped around the canvas. My problem is that I don't want the images to be able to overlap each other. how to prevent this?? They can overlap as you drag but not when dropped, they need to "snap" to the nearest point that is not already occupied by another image.
I have a simple drag and drop, and wanted to change the state of the drop target on a match. It works as expected, but then there the state changes back to normal (or the itemrenderer is refreshing). I am guessing there is either an override that i need to do, or in need to flag it to not refresh, but having no luck.
I'm trying to make a Flex Tree Component display the children of a sprite in a hierarchical way. Moreover, dragging the items on the FlexTree would resort and reparent the items. I have special Elements set as Folders. This would allow other elements to be added there as a children by dragging an element on the tree and dropping it there. I have a failed attempt which works, but breaks when I try to add folders. Basically, it fails at reparenting the items by dragging and resorting folders and that Does anyone know of a component or something which can do this, has anyone have created any of this or could anyone give me a clue?
Using Flex 4.1, i'm trying to create a Tree element with a custom ItemRenderer (MXTreeItemRenderer). my problem is that whenever I fold and unfold a root item, the order of the items change.. it's weird like maybe the XML is not formatted properly.
I have a tree being populated by an array collection. I don't have control of the data in the array collection and even when a node has no children it still has a "children" property that is causing my tree to treat every node as branch. I can do a simple check on the length of the array in the children property. If this is 0 I need the tree to display the node as a leaf, no disclosure icon. Any thoughts on how I can achieve this? It would be nice if there were a branchFunction like the iconFunction and labelFunction.

By default, whenever you rollOver/mouseOver (not sure of the difference) an item in a Datagrid or a List, that item is highlighted with the component's rollOverColor.I'm just wondering if there's any way to do that programmatically. I haven't been able to find much help on the issue. For example,suppose I have two DataGrids.When I rollOver an item in the first DataGrid, I want to highlight the corresponding index in the second one as well.Basically, as if two separate cursors were rollOver'ing two separate DataGrids.
I'm trying to implement solr hit highlighting using a flex client. There are lots of examples out there to do high lighting in client side writing logic to do this, but couldn't find proper solution to tag them from back end (eg. some words<pretexttag>keyword<posttexttag>some words) so that it automatically highlight with results.

I want to create a custom list in Flex for an interface prototype. The list is supposed to have an image and 3 text fields. This is what I have done so far, the control displayed is what I want. But, when I click on one of the items, the item does not appear (visually) to be selected. I was not sure how I would implement this.
I have a intro to a picture of a tree which has buttons on it. The intro is an embedded flv video (not using the FLV component). The video starts on frame one and runs to frame 2. The tree is on frame 3.When I click a button on the tree, it runs the respective frames then returns to the tree. When the tree appears, the sound of the video is playing in the background.How can I make this stop?
In a complex XML where I dont know the leaf node names/or the level of depth they are, how could I extract all the leaf nodes inside a XMLList variable directly?

I am currently developing a dynamic LineChart in FLEX 4.I am implementing a Tree control next to my LineChart, which will filter the LineChart dataprovider and lineseries. The tree control has several branches and ultimately 5 children (leaf nodes) at the bottom of the last branch.I need the leaf node/children to be displayed as checkboxes inside the tree control.As I understand,this will require overrides in the TreeItemRenderer class.This is where I am a little confused on how to implement that.Currently I can distinguish between leaf and branches using this code, in my main MXML component.I added this because it may be helpful to some beginning FLEXdevelopers, such as myself, who cannot easily find this functionality documented well:

I am looking at the TreeItemRenderer override class from the following example here: In the example, they override the "createChildden" super function to add checkboxes to the tree control.My question is, can I override the createChildren function directly in my MXML component, and not have to use an entire class file to override this functionality? Must I re-invent the wheel to do this?Also, how can I distinguish that my treeItem is a leaf node and not a parent, in the override function? I only want to add checkboxes to the leaf nodes, how can I differentiate? The following example adds checkboxes to all branches and leaf nodes, but I want to add checkboxes only to leaf node/children. How would you approach that?

Anyone know how to change a single instance of an item renderer for a Flex tree item at runtime? To reiterate, I'm not trying to change the entire tree's item renderer like this:tree.itemRenderer = new ClassFactory(ItemRenderer2);I'm trying to change the item renderer of a single tree item like this (the following code does not work):tree.selectedItem.itemRenderer = new ClassFactory(ItemRenderer2);To put it more simply, does anyone know how to reference an instance of an item renderer and set it to a new item renderer class? I've tried using the Tree's itemToItemRenderer() method with no success.
I have a Flex Tree component in my app. I set the icons for open and close. BUT I can't find something about changing the default background-color from white to something different.
obviously there is no background-color setable in css...
I'm making a portfolio site in Flash. It's my first complete Flash site, but I know the basic stuff and I'm trying out some actionscripting. So far I have the site itself, with working navigation and a preloader. But I want to have a animation of falling leaves in the preloader, so people have something to look at when the wait for the site to be loaded. It also fits with the general "feel" of the site. I've been trying to do this by using the Falling Snow v2 tutorial from Kirupa, but something is unclear to me. I inserted the movieclip snow_mc, made the leaf, converted it to another movieclip snow, gave the instance name for this clip snow(I'm just following the tutorial, that's why the leaf is called snow and all) copy-pasted the first actionscript part of the tutorial on the first frame in the snow-mc clip, but then I don't know where to put the rest of the AS. The tutorial says to select the snow clip and press F9 and paste, but to do mean on the first frame in the snow clip? Because I keep getting these errors:

Introduction: I have a flat ArrayCollection of object's, which i group to create the dataProvider for an AdvancedDataGrid. In this AdvancedDataGrid i have different branches representing different type of tasks. I want to conditionally change the icon for the leaf nodes in the AdvancedDataGrid based on a date field stored in each object.For this purpose lets say each Task object contains an id and an updatedDate (Representing when the task was last updated). If the task has not been updated in the last five days (updatedDate+5 < today) the icon of that leaf node(Task) should be red, in constrast to the opposite the leaf icon in the AdvancedDatagrid should be green, e.g. like the image below. In this case task 35 has not been updated in the last 5 days, while 13 and 39 have.
Question: How do i change the leaf icons in the ADG based on the updatedDate of the underlying object? I would think that i have to extend AdvancedDataGrid and override some method, but which and how?I have seen easy ways of changing the open and closed icons on the web, but no way of conditionally changing an open node's icon :)
I know that there is no such function as getElementByName in Flex but I also now that you can do this["object_id"] to get the element of the application u're in.What about getting an element inside another element?I've tried making element["id"] ? But in my try-catch it always runs the "catch" part..how do I get an element inside another element just having it's id in dynamically created string form?
