I am wondering if it's posible to set the backgroundcolor of the stage through as3 code.i am also wondering if it's possible to set the stage height and stage width through the code. for the application i wish to develop, the values of the stage color and the stage dimensions are provided by an XML file.

i have a movie where a user loads images into an image viewer (mc) i have craeted. If a user clicks on gallery 1, the loader appears, and load the jpg and then tells the viewer to show onceloaded. But, if a user clicks on gallery 1, then clicks on gallery 2, the movie finishes loading picture 1, before loading picture 2, is there any waqy i can force the loader to stop loading one,a dn load two immediately.

View 5 RepliesI have been struggling with this with CS4 and CS5. I am working on an animation with a couple of characters comprised of several pngs I converted to symbols. When one characters symbols overlap another characters the swf file shows the stage color rather than the background image I have placed in the file. I can publish it as an html with the option of playing it windowless transparent and it will remove this problem. But I would like to just be able to play the swf file without this issue.

It's surprisingly addicting (I've gotten to the point of having an endlessly scrolling background with a moveable ship) but am having some trouble.I am currently making my first flash-based game using actionscript 3.0. However,I've come across a hurdle that I have not overcome: changing stages.I am making a SHMUP (it doesn't look very good, but I'm making it for experience) which has everything going from left-to-right ala R-Type.I have an endlessly looping background, but at the end of the stage I want to change the background, as well as all the enemies (they get upgraded per level) and enemy spawning positions.

Each of the box - lets called "A" consist of some kind of surrounding (the line around the box for which we set up[ stroke) which I will cal "B". And inside that box theres another box of different color - I will call it "C", with different surrounding - call it "D".
(It is inside the first one).The other box from that graphic looks the same, but has different names. "E","F","G",and"H" respectively. All of the elements "A","B","C",and "D" forms a button. I have some code to use it.(with event listeners) My question: If I would like to change the colour of the element "B" (which are a movie clip), how will I code it.

The code works fine for whole button(A). A changes color, but I would like only the surrounding to change the color. I guess I have to put some path in there, but I am not really sure how to.

I always thought that stage.stageWidth and stage.stageHeight give you the dimensions of the stage you set in the properties panel no matter what. But when I went into fullscreen mode (with scaling), both the width and the height changed to the dimensions of the screen rather than staying the dimensions I specified.
I have a moving vehicle on the stage, which should change directions according to where I click on the stage.I already made it work using this formula:var angle:Number = Math.atan2(dy,dx)*180/Math.PI+90;However, I need the car to tween to the correct angle, instead of just "jumping" to it. While this is easy enough to do, the car sometimes takes the longer turn (especially when I click in the bottom-left quarter of the stage), and it seems unnatural.
View 0 RepliesThe more I work with this program, the more weird stuff I encounter. I set up my .fla file as 700 x 400. I've been putting stuff on the stage and adding tweens, then when I test the movie, part of the stage image is cut off. I turned on the ruler, and found that the top of my stage is aligned at X 0.00 and Y -44.50. I drew a box the size of the entire stage, and its position is X 0.00 and Y -44.50, and the dimensions are 700 x 469. Can anyone tell me why my stage is larger than 700 x 400, and how to get the top left corner of the stage to be aligned at X 0.00 and Y 0.00?

View 3 RepliesIf you set the stage.scaleMode to StageScaleMode.SHOW_ALL, your swf may be scaled up or down, and may be padded on the top/bottom or left/right. However, stage.width + height always return the width and height as defined by your swf, and stage.scaleX + Y always return 1. As I understand it, resize events are not thrown. So how do I get the actual scale and dimensions?
I want them for two problems:I want to fill that padding on the top/bottom or left/right with something only if the user can see it.
I am drawing vectors into bitmaps and want to properly scale it so it doesn't look jagged (or fuzzy with bitmap.smoothing). Flash seems to do the scaling correctly when you cacheAsBitmap=true, so how do I recreate this?

This always traces the width/height of the content of the external crossball.swf file, not its stage dimensions. So let's say crossball.swf has a document size of 200 by 200 pixels and in it is a shape of 115 by 30 it will trace the last as the width/height of 'container'.Is there any way to get the stage dimensions of an externally loaded swf through moviecliploader?
In the Flash CS 5.5 AIR settings for iOS, in the General tab of a panel, there's a menu that lets you specify the target device:
-iPhone;
-iPad;
-(both) iPhone and iPad;
What happens if I specify the third? That is: I can't understand if I can use the default stage dimensions (iPhone dimensions) or I must eventually create a stage (and assets) for iPad (and it will work for iPhone too).
