ActionScript 3.0 :: Changing Font In Dynamic TextBox?
Oct 4, 2010
I'm using Flash CS5, and dcepending on what the user does, I'm changing the font in a dynamic text box using
gFormula = "Na<font face='GG Superscript Sans'>+</font>"
txt_Names.htmlText = gFormula
The correct font appears on the computer where the font is installed but not on other computers, so I assume that it is a font embedding problem. I have embedded the font.
I have a dynamic text box and I would like to be able to use actionscript 3 to change the color, font, size, etc. of only HALF the dynamic text. Is there a way to use the TextFormat class (or another way) to format half the string and append it to the end of the dynamic text? I also don't want to use server side script or anything outside of flash.
I want to do this: Hello World -> Hello World Example: change the color of Half of the dynamic text box.
1) Create a New Flash File (AS 3.0) 2) Put a dynamic text field there, named textBox 3) The font is Trebuchet MS - BOLD. (example... can be any bold font) 4) Using "Character Embedding", I've embedded numerals, for example. 5) In first frame, I put the code: textBox.text = "1"; 6) If I compile at this point, the "1" will appear. 7) BUT.... if I put a static text box with anything typed, using Trebuchet MS - REGULAR, and compile the FLA again, the number 1 WON'T appear!
I am trying to create a tshirt design tool in flash as2. I have created 2 textboxes one is dynamic and one is input. When i type in the text in the input textbox it should appear on the other dynamic textbox as i type. I tried various methods and tried lots of search on the internet but couldn't find what i was looking for.
I have a problem changing the colour of text in a dynamic text box. I have created a dynamic text field with the following text in it: jjj fff jjj fff. I then have an input text box below it. The user has to type the letters it sees in the text box above. If the user types a j the text in the textfield turns green, to indicate that the user entered the correct letter, if the user inputs the incorrect letter in comparison with the text above the text above (e.g: turns red.).
I want to program the text in the text field so that only the letter that they were supposed to type turns either green or red, depending on whether they typed the correct letter in the input box. For example. if the user inputs a 'j' in the input box, the first j in the text field above, will turn to green, then if the user types in an f, the j in the text field above will turn to red, as the user was supposed to type a 'j'. How can I control each letter colour of the textfield.
have created a scrolling text area in flash CS3 using a dynamic text box with text inside controlled by a couple of buttons using the .scroll property to add to the scroll value on each click of a button.i am wanting to add two new buttons to decrease and increase the font size of the text within the dynamic text area, which i thought should be fairly easy. i found a .size property which could be applied to text, but i do not think i am using it in the right way. here's what i have tried to do (where 'myText' is the instance name of my dynamic text area):
on (release) { var myFormat = myText.getTextFormat(); myFormat.size += 10;
I am using a downloaded script and it is helping me out tremendously. After a little manipultion it is doing wonders for my intended project. The script yields a nunber into a dynamic text field that I would like to enlarge. In other words, make the font larger. I changed the size of the text field but the font size didn't change.Here's my script:
stop(); if (!initialized){ memory = 0;[code]...........
I have a user text input field and a preview button, when they press preview the inputed text appears in a dynamic text field in another part of the window. I need to be able to change the font of the text in the dynamic field using buttons (so the user can see their text displayed in various different fonts which will be embedded into the swf). After watching various different tutorials I hashed together this code for my first button to change the font to Times New Roman which I embedded with the class name timesNew.
ActionScript Code: times_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, showTim); function showTim(e:MouseEvent):void{ var oneFont = new timesNew(); var timForm:TextFormat = new TextFormat(); timForm.font = oneFont; [Code] .....
When I run the movie everything works fine and the console shows no errors but when I press the button to change the font the text in the dynamic field simply disappears.
I'm not familiar with actionscript, so I need help for this flash file... I want to change the font color and font style for the sentence that display...
I have a request concerning font embedding,i'm running flash Cs5 and loving the new embed system but i actually forgot to embed some fonts on a textbox and now, at compile-time the output throws :"Fonts should be embedded for any text that may be edited at runtime, other than text with the "Use Device Fonts" setting. Use the Text > Font Embedding command to embed fonts."I mean that's great, but i'd like to know which textbox actually hasn't got its font embedded so i can fix that (stupid flash )I have a lot of textboxes in this project so it will be long before i have re-embedded everything.
Ok, so i have this problem with text dissapearing if i use one font, it shows in one textbox, but the other ones are odd, they either show 0 or 1, or the first letter only, or nothing at all. What's the problem?In the beggining i tried to ignore the problem by changing the font or the font style, but now, it's becoming to ugly if i use too many different fonts.
I have a strange issue where a dynamic text field will not show a bold version of a font (Gerstner BQ) if the regular version is on the stage in a static text field.Remove the static text field and the dynamic text field displays the bold font correctlyI have created a test FLA to reproduce this and by turning the layer with the static text field on and off (Publish settings -> Flash -> include hidden layers [unchecked]), the issue is quite clearhis issue is so big for me that I have had to abandon a project in CS5 and start again in CS4 just to work around this.
I am working on a as3 project in which the user select a font from Combo Box and that font SWF should be loaded Dynamically and then i need to change the font of the Dynamic text field.
I have swf font files downloaded from [URL]
My question is that how can i load the font swf dynamically from server and add them to the library and how can i use that swf to change the font of dynamic text field.
if there are embedded fonts in library the i can access them using this- --
var fontList:Array = Font.enumerateFonts(); for( var i:int=0; i<fontList.length; i++ ) { trace( "font: " + fontList[ i ].fontName ); }
But How to use dynamically loaded Font swf as a font type.
I am unfamiliar with Flash and actionscript and I need help to dynamically change the font of a textbox based on the value of a flashvar. I have a flash template whose content I can edit through XML. The flashvar value specifies the language and points to a different XML file. This works without problems, and I have found online a way to change the font via actionscript. However I need help on how to get a reference to that textbox.
There are two files an .fla and Main.as file. Within the fla file there is a single Scene and when the textbox is selected the properties display "thisLogo" as its name and "Dynamic Text" in the combo box below. Within the Main.as file I have attempted to add the following code:
[Code]...
1119: Access of possibly undefined property thisLogo through a reference with static type Main.
I have a textbox and a button on the stage and what i want is, when the user clicks on the button the font in the textbox to be changed. This is the code I have, but nothing is happening when I click the button.
SinFont is the embedded font.
Code: btnChange.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, changefont); function changefont(event:MouseEvent):void[code].....
I'm trying to make 3 sliders that, depending on each other, changes the value of a text-box. Example: If Slider A moves to 150, the value in the text-box changes to 150. If you then move Slider B to 40, the value in the text-box changes to (150+40) 190. Same thing for Slider C. So basically I want the value of what you select in each Slider to be added together in real time like this: [URL]. Only this shows just one slider, and I want three, added together.
Okay... I give up. I've tried everything I know on how to do this but with no results. What I'm trying to do is simple: there's a button in the stage and a movie clip. Inside the movie clip is a dynamic textbox. Now, the button is supposed to change what's written in the textbox inside the movie clip. Here's the code I had tried using:
Ive been editing a template for a photography website (in flash) but she wanted the font changed through out the site and the colour of this font changed to. Ive been playing around with it and managed to chage the font but only for some of it, but what ever im doing is having a knock on affect with other parts of the site.I have a index page and various other files and folders but dont know if im looking in the correct place.When i look at the libary of contents its not very clear what is what and cant see anything reffrencing the text.
I've loaded content from an xml document to create a sub menu. However, I'd like to change the font to match the menu and am having trouble with the proper code:
I experienced a very strange problem today. As I was working on my FLA file, I tried to paste some text into a static text field using CTRL+V (I am using Vista Home Premium). However, at the time the focus was on the font field in the property window instead of on the text field and all the text I wanted to paste replaced the font name. As I tried to open the font drop down list to select the correct font flash crashed.
Since then I have not being able to open any FLA files. Flash starts without a problem, but if I try to open any FLA file it crashes again. I also tried creating a new FLA file but without success. I copied the FLA in question to another machine and there the file opens without a problem, so the file itself is not corrupted.
I'm trying to change the font within the flash file of this site. Its one single swf, with a series of .txt files loaded through actionscript 2.0. How do I change the font of the text within the scrolling box at the right?
I have created an animation where I have pictures and text accompanying the pictures sliding in and out. However, I want to change the font of the text across the entire animation. What is the easiest way to do this? I have found when I have tried it, (changing the font in the text box) that sometimes it throws the whole animation out for each key frame that has that text (if this makes any sense). In other words, suppose I change the font in keyframe 1, the change it at the next keyframe, sometimes the second keyframe is no longer consistent with the first, perhaps only slightly and therefore the animation can run a bit choppy as it goes from keyframe to keyframe.
Code: format = new TextFormat(); format.bold = true; tfield.setTextFormat(format);
into something like this:
Code: var col = new Color(this.background); col.setRGB(0xf4faff);
I'm no AS expert but i think the first example changes the font from outside of the object and the second example from inside the text object.how to make the "this.background" in the second example into "this.whatever points to the font".

I am assuming that the long text I copied in the font field somehow had corrupted Flash and maybe I have to reinstall it.
I created a contact us form for my landing page. I draged few components such as "textInput" "radioButton" "comboBox" and "checkBox" into a movie clip.
Now the default font size of Flash is 10 and I would like to enlarge it.
