ActionScript 3.0 :: Check When Variable Is Equal To A Set Of Values?
Apr 21, 2009
Is there a way to write an "ANY" conditional statement? For example, I want to write an IF statement that if the user presses ANY of 10 specified keys, I want to execute the same bit of code.However, the only ways I know to accomplish this is by
1) writing a switch statement, which seems unwieldy because I'll have 10 separate cases which all duplicate the same [code]...
Is there a better/faster/more efficient way to check if a variable is equal to ANY of a set of values?
Is there an easy way to compare two TextFlow objects with each other? I have two text flow objects that are created with TextConverter.importToFlow() and want to check if they are equal or not. Only way I found so far is to use TextConverter.export() to export them to a string then compare which seems bit convoluted...
My dynamic text box is set to: _root.selectedcolor but instead of displaying "Rose" it displays"_root.fabric01_chip10_name" Basically I need to get the literal value to equal an expression- how do I do this????? I've done this before, but it's slipping my mind.
Everything works fine, but the dynamic textfield with the var name loadtext is blank. If i set loadtext = i+"loaded" then it just displays "loaded". I know the variable "i" has a value since the rest of the preloader works.
In the attached CS4 file I have attempted to have a button evaluate whether a variable (textbox) is equal to a number. If so, I want another textbox to say "correct" or trace "correct" either way. However, it doesnt appear to be evaluating the variable. I receive the "correct" trace everytime the button is released.
I tried to upload the file but it is too large. The code in the button is as follows:
on (release){ if (phoneNumber == "911"); trace ("correct"); }
I have a textbox entitled numbers, in which the user presses buttons and the number is added to the textbox. The same textbox has a variable assigned to it entitled phonenumber. When the talk button is pressed the code above should check the variable to see if it == 911. However no matter what I enter into the textbox, the trace always pops up and says correct.
I have a preloader. On one frame of the preloader is the code:[code]Everything works fine, but the dynamic textfield with the var name loadtext is blank. If i set loadtext = i+"loaded" then it just displays "loaded". I know the variable "i" has a value since the rest of the preloader works. Anyone know whats wrong?
I need to figure out a way to make it so that if any of the values are too close (say, within 50 of each other) it adds a fixed amount to one of the values so that they are no longer that near to each other.
I have XML file with data and I am loading this to text filed. How can check the length of values (like value1, value2)? And The text field has to accept only 20 chars from each value. If it's more than 20 chars then it should remove (delete) 21, 22 chars.
From this picture example, how do you assign a command to a column for it to respond based upon a value you give it. For example, if I click on the lease tab, how do I set to respond after clicking once where everything in the colum shows at the top from smallest # to greatest. Then if I hit the tab again, it will do the opposite.
Another example, lets stay I click on the word name I would like the columns under it to display in alphabetical order .
Additionally I would like to include a check marker that displaced the price upon which item you select and then set that for purchaes.
I have the values load from a file, however the problem i am having is that it isnt selecting the values loaded from the file when i check on the settings. am i using the correct as2 code for it? i even tried using setValue, that is listed in the flash livedocs.
find the suitable regular expression to validate a string that has comma separated numbers, for e.g. '1,2,3' or '111,234234,-09', etc. Anything else should be considered invalid. for e.g. '121as23' or '123-123' is invalid. I suppose this must be possible in Flex using regular expression but I can not find the correct regular expression.
The dictionary use strict equals(===) for key comparison, how to change the comparison, so I can use my standard for comparison, for example, I have a class named Student:
class Student{ var id:int; var name:String;[code]....
I want Dictionary use id to compare if the two keys are equal, not use strict equal(===) to compare if the key is the same.
I am trying make a movieclip pan across the stage on a set path, I have 5 buttons, when button 2 is clicked, the movie clip is moved to position 2, its moved on a timeline so a function starts playing the movieclip, on the timeline inside this movieclip there are conditions on specific frames showing where the the timeline stops, so when button2 is clicked a variable is created which is "label2" and the timeline stops on this point, as seen the the condition below[code]....
I searched this a number of times, but I haven't found the answer was.I am new to scripting, so I am still finding what works and doesn't. So far I have added a number of variables in the engine I am creating. I want the player to click the button. Once press it will affect many of variables. The thing is I want to make the button unpressable if one variable is <= a number, lets say 100, and another term is true: number(_root.var2)/number(_root.var1) > 2).Here is what I have so far:
Im looking for something similar to the php function isset where you can check to see if a variable has been set. Does anyone know how i would go about seeing if a value has been set for a Number variable?
