View 8 RepliesI've been asked to modify this flash piece (CS3, AS2) and add clickable links to the pop up menu. For the life of me I can't get it to work, and my head hurts from searching the web top to bottom for an answer. I would attach the fla but its too large, but basically you scroll over a button, in this case a dot, and it triggers a pop up box beside it with a list of items. These are generated by frame identifiers, and when you roll over the box it goes away. I need it to stay there and make that list of items clickable ones.

View 1 RepliesWhen a user clicks on a URL, I want the new page to open up in a new window (or tab),instead of always in _self, which of course replaces the movie. I've trace'd the htmlText contents, and see TARGET="" where it's building the clickable links, which I assume the browsers interpret as the same thing as _self. Is there some better way to change the target for any URLs, short of doing a search and replace of the htmlText field
View 9 RepliesI've gone through an mp3 tutorial series and modified the final result for what i'm looking for. one thing i would like though is to be able to add another attribute in for a clickable button that links to another page that would have lyrics. so my xml would look like this i believe or something close <song name ="Test Track 4" band ="Band4" file="test4.mp3" lyrics="testlyrics.html" /> basically so it adds another button in after the track listing so you can click and view the lyrics that would be on a separate page. I don't quite understand how it all draws together in flash actionscript and how to put the lyrics attribute on another button.

What I need to do is replace the geturl with some script that will add an alert box with 2 options. I would like the box to have a title something like "Where would you like to go from here?" then two text links "Members Excel" (which will take them to members-excel-forum) and "Newsgroup Excel" (which will take them to newsgroup-excel-forum), like I said I have many more to add but once I have the code and a "How to" I should be able to adapt it.I will have to do this for each of the items (I'll have to unlock them first) there are 24 items in my movie (it looks like 12 as there is an icon and text locked together for each category) so I need to do this for 16 of them, I say Alert box as this won't be bothered by a pop up blocker. I am wondering how to make a movie clip that contains automatic vertical scrolling dynamic text(from an external .txt file) I dont want to press buttons to scroll text, I need it to be constantly scrolling, then loop once the text has been read from the external txt file.
I also require each line of the dynamic text to be clickable links that will take each line of text to a specific link. Ive uploaded a zip file containing fla and swf i found which shows vertical scrolling text. However if i move any of the graphics and text field clips around the stage the text cannot be seen anymore. why is this? can you put all of the items on the main stage in a movie clip so i can resize and move the scroller around the stage?? I tried this but again the text disapeared when i exported the movie? Is this due to the x + y co ordinates in the scripting?

i am doing a slideshow with images occuring randomly wch hav clickable links,okay it works but at times the transition is very fast instead of the 8s interval i expect ,when i view the trace() output ,i have noted that at times the timer is triggerd twice or more simultaneously...my code is below...what maybe the cause may u kindly assist i have 21 frames with 21 images

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to build a Flash-based controller application to go on the web interface for the rack-mounted units which my current employer builds. The interface is defined in an XML file which is parsed and processed when the Flash application is started.
I've created some library symbols which act as various controls - sliders, toggle buttons, etc. I can add these fine to the stage. What I would like to do is group them together in a container of some sort so that I can show and hide them en masse without having to loop through all the controls. All library symbols I'm using are linked to ActionScript classes.
If I use a symbol I created earlier and added to the library as this container, everything works fine and the controls display correctly on the stage.
However, if I dynamically create a MovieClip and use that as the container, it never appears on the stage. The code is identical in both cases except for the class names being used. I am calling addChild() on the MovieClip instance to add the controls to the MovieClip, and then call addChild on the document class to add the MovieClip to the stage. As I mentioned above, this all works perfectly if I use a pre-created symbol from the library as the container.[code]...
I have developed a rolling credits style movieclip in Flash using Actionscript 2. Text is loaded from an XML file and parsed into a dynamic textfield. This text includes hyperlinks to webpages defined by a url node in the xml so Flash can add the appropriate a href to the dynamic text field and make the link clickable.
In my first attempts to do this the textfield stayed still and all the links worked fine both testing locally and when I run it in a browser on my website.Then I wanted to make things move ... which I achieved easily enough and tested locally (from within Flash Professional) and the links remained clickable, a browser window opened and the webpage i was expecting to see opened... great
However, when I export the swf, upload it and run it from my website suddenly the links are not working. So I tried to test the movie in a browser from Flash Pro - same problem, it must be something to do with Flash Player and the moving dynamic textfield.
a couple of observations - the cursor will change to a hand icon when over the links as you would expect, and if I right click on the link and click open in a new window the link works ok, just not when I left click. If I stop the scrolling then the links become clickable again, it is only when the textfield is moving... actually its not technically scrolling, im moving the whole textfield.
I loaded a swf and placed it in a movieclip on the stage. When I try to make this image clickable nothing happens.

If I attach a listener to the movieClip on the stage it works fine but I can't seem to get the image inside of the clip to work.
I have a several chart components that I have created in Flex. Basically I have set up a special UI that allows the user to select which of these charts they want to print. When they press the print button each of the selected charts is created dynamically then added to a container. Then I send this container off to FlexPrintJob.

I have seen some examples on the adobe site that add the container to the application but don't include it in the layout. This looks like the way to go.

I am trying to play a video dynamically and make it clickable as like a link.[code]The Video player seems to appear and the video plays well too but there is a problem with the onClick Event which doesnt work no matter what i try. the click action never seems to work..what am i doing wrong here.

Is there a way to make those town labels clickable so that they can display the PDF information on a new page?
I have several external SWFs loading into another SWF shell that contains all the files. The problem that I am running into is when some of the external SWF's are loaded into the shell the links stop working. I am using the getURL script to call a javascript function on one link and the same getURL on another link to call the mailto function.
When I test these files on my system and the web, both individually and in the shell, everything works perfectly. However, as soon as I embed the shell SWF into an html page these links don't work and won't do anything. But other links in different external SWF using the getURL script to simply navigate to another html page works perfectly.
Another problem for me with the dynamic scroller found on the Kirupa site: [URL] I can't figure out how to create URL links in the text. I tried selecting "render text as HTML" and added this to the .txt file: < a h ref=" mylink" > mylinkhere < / a> (without the spaces) but it just showed up 'as it'.

I'm importing my images dynamically into an online portfolio. I'd like to have some text/areas on the imported images be linked to outside websites, or link to other areas of my site.If this is possible, how does one code it; or are there any tutorials anyone knows of that I could check out?

My question is can you attach the links in a text file by putting html tags in there or is it better to turn the text file into an XML file with the tags in there?Also can you attach CSS styles to that text file.. for instance in addition to adding links to the text I would also like to change the color of the text.

View 5 RepliesI am trying to create html links from a external xml file to be dynamically added to a text field (im using flash builder)the process i am having trouble is: -Loading an external swf which contains the textfield loading external xml which contains the cdata with links adding the cdata to the htmltext property of the textfield the link is showing correctly, the mouse turns into a hand... but when i click on the link it doesnt work. i have seen a few forum posts similar to this problem but all are using textfield control in flash builder but im trying to add the cdata into an externally loaded swf which holds the textfield.

i created a flash slideshow with pictures of events and link each picture with its own event (ie. each pictures has its own links to the website). I created the fade in and fade out effect using the class motion tween. With the link, I created a layer with a button that has alpha= 0 (so the user don't see it) and then I used code snippet to make another layer with the action script "click to go to url."
When the slideshow goes to the last picture I made it fade out and the first picture of the slideshow would show up and then the slideshow would replay itself (by default?). My goal is to make a continuous slideshow.
When I tested the swf file, the first time it runs, everything is right. The urls and the pictures are in correct order. However when the slideshow replays itself automatically, I notice that the links are incorrect. In the first play, when I click the picture of the event it would open the url of that event.However when the sldieshow replays, clicking the pictures would only open the url of the first event picture. When I click on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.pictures the browser opens only the link of the first picture of the slideshow.

I've got a PHP script that searches for links in a block of text and converts them to HTML values. The $message variable is then entered into my database using a simple INSERT. So far, so good. Then I have Flash parse the message using XML:

The problem, however, is that my links don't work. The rollover works from the CSS styling, but the links don't actually go anywhere. When I rollover the links, the hand cursor doesn't appear, and clicking only serves to change the color back to the non-hover value.
I'm writing some code in Flash MX 2004 and everything works fine except for the last button (4DSystemsProducts).According to the coding if none of the drop down buttons work it should go to products.php, but for some reason it goes to 4DSystemsProducts.php. All of the other menus are coded the same way and work fine, if I take out that button it works fine,or if I take out button 7 and switch 4DSystems to button 7 everything works.Here is the code to clear up this explanation.
