you know when you have a search engine like google and their is text you can display at the end of the url and whatever you change it too will search for how would i do similar to this but have it display in a flash dynamic text box

<Xml_Variable>.ignorewhitespaces= true
but still not working

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to build a Flash-based controller application to go on the web interface for the rack-mounted units which my current employer builds. The interface is defined in an XML file which is parsed and processed when the Flash application is started.
I've created some library symbols which act as various controls - sliders, toggle buttons, etc. I can add these fine to the stage. What I would like to do is group them together in a container of some sort so that I can show and hide them en masse without having to loop through all the controls. All library symbols I'm using are linked to ActionScript classes.
If I use a symbol I created earlier and added to the library as this container, everything works fine and the controls display correctly on the stage.
However, if I dynamically create a MovieClip and use that as the container, it never appears on the stage. The code is identical in both cases except for the class names being used. I am calling addChild() on the MovieClip instance to add the controls to the MovieClip, and then call addChild on the document class to add the MovieClip to the stage. As I mentioned above, this all works perfectly if I use a pre-created symbol from the library as the container.[code]...
i am still new in dealing with flash and what have you posted is very useful, but i want to ask you a question regarding the button function. i want to relate a button with a certain text but it's a big paragraph so when i have made the example on the site the display in the output box is not good enough i want the text to be displayed as a paragraph not a straight line.
View 1 RepliesI have a several chart components that I have created in Flex. Basically I have set up a special UI that allows the user to select which of these charts they want to print. When they press the print button each of the selected charts is created dynamically then added to a container. Then I send this container off to FlexPrintJob.
i.e.

I have seen some examples on the adobe site that add the container to the application but don't include it in the layout. This looks like the way to go.

I was wondering if it's possible to have a dynamic text box that can change sizes, without distorting the text displayed in it... I would also like to set it up dynamically.

View 3 RepliesI'm creating a dashboard with a lot of buttons that will display pieces of text from an XML file. The trouble is, I can't figure out how to clear the text from a field once it is displayed. If I push another button, the new data will replace the old data, but if the new button is display a smaller data set, it will only replace some of the former data set and the rest stays displayed. Does that make sense? I found some code that clears the text fields, but I don't know where to put it:

It works great in a regular html page but now I am upgrading my page to flash but still would like and still would like to use this script (since I pretty much the whole year filled in, one line of text for each day). I tried to load it in a dynamic text box by geturl but I think I had the wrong actionscript.[code]

the css file is good, xml loaded correctely, everything seams ok, exept for my textfield. it simply doesnt read the <spam class"someStyle"></spam> i also did the <![CDATA[ ]] on the xml.
I'm creating a quiz application using Flash CS3, but it's been such a long time since I've used ActionScript and I'm a little bit stuck.I've created an input text box in the first frame of my quiz program. A person will enter their name into this text box (which I've called "nameInput") and then click the next button to proceed through the quiz.However, when I get to the results page I cannot figure out how to get the input name to be displayed automatically in the dynamic text box (which is called "nameOutput") when the user enters the frame.

My code compiles without error. The text displayed on screen is generated from an external AS file.
I want to display text which can be circled/marked over by the user. Also the user must be able to print/erase and move on to a new swf file once the page has been printed off. I have looked at a few different options but as yet I have been unsuccessful with the functionality.

The array contains more than twelve numbers. I want to use buttons to refresh the information in the boxes (effectively creating a scrolling effect) so that the remaining contents of the array can be revealed as required. In the code below Stats1 etc. refer to the dynamic text. The array is called Stats4display. I've tried setting up the TextFormat and createTextField as a function that's called on the onRelease handler. I've tried dropping the whole frackin' code in the onRelease function for each button. Neither approach works. I've been digging around on the web, looking for answers, and nothing seems to solve my problem.
I have been scripting this flash profile card which pulls data from multiple XML files. The problem i am having is when it comes down to pulling this 1 set of information which is accessing the attributes of an array of specific XML nodes on display after the first item it inputs a comma before each item.

To add these, I have an array of Radio Buttons called boxes.This is part of the CheckBoxes class.Here's my problem: When I add the radio buttons as children to the stage, from the frame itself, it works just fine. However, I need to add it to the BoxContainer movie clip. I have tried:

The text in the fields will either say ON or OFF based on the value of bstatus.var bstatus will either have a value of 0 or 1 I have the following textfields listed below.I'm not sure if the syntax is correct, but I was thinking that the text fields would be in an array, and I would create a for loop--that will go through the array in order to have the fields populated.

I have to create a web page which can be set to full screen(I mean the real full screen,not like press the F11),in the full screen there should be some words displaying.

Normally,it show its contents(the questions),but someday,maybe a VIP come to visit the page,so we want to replace the whole page with a welcome screen.
Of course we can replace the [URL] (suppose it is the index page) with the welcome text(welcome xxx to our site...) in the server side.
However this is not convenient,and the text can not be full screened.
So I thought the flash,I can add a controller button at the page,when required,I click this button,and set the welcome words,then a flash will start to play with the sepcified words in a full screen model. It would be better if the flash can show the text with a Animation.
I have never did the flash development,so I want to know if this is possible?
BTW,can all the clients change to flash with juse one click?
I mean I click the controller button,then all the client who is visit this page should see the contents replaced by the flash at the same time.
i'm just starting to learn flash and as3, i need to send to a flash movie text using javascript and the text will move around.first i created a label that get text from javascriptthe next thing i want to do is move the label around, i think i might be missing something but dont know what.
