ActionScript 3.0 :: Controlling Spacing Between HtmlText Lines?
Sep 3, 2009
I'm rendering text in a multiline textField as htmlText. I need to put some spacing between each paragraph line, but if a line is long and wraps around, I want the spacing to be normal or narrow. Currently, all lines take on the same spacing regardless of the setting.
I have some dynamic text styled with a css stylesheet. I want to be able to control the amount of space between each paragraph. I would do this with a "padding-bottom" tag for a normal web page, but this does not seem to be supported within Flash text styling.
I am having the most frustrating time with htmlText in TextField.apparently, if you set the htmlText of a TextField, you always get an extra line at the end.Here is what I have found out:Below, a multiline TextField is created and the text property is set. I then grab the htmlText property, set the htmlText to "" and then reapply the htmlText I had just grabbed. This causes a new line to be added to the Textfield:
Actionscript Code: var tf:TextField = new TextField();tf.width = tf.height = 200;tf.border = true;tf.multiline = true;tf.wordWrap = true;addChild(tf);tf.text = "this is not htmlText";
The problem is that there are always 2 lines in text area when it runs......when i remove this i get usual one line but then i m not able to set color and all.I want to use textarea, set different colors on it and i dont want 2 lines in that.....
I can't seem to control my letter spacing (kerning) in my dynamic text field. I gave the field an instance name of about_txt and I loaded the text from a text document. The text shows up fine but it is all bunched together. Here is my code:
Code: var about_req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("about_txt.txt"); var about_1dr:URLLoader = new URLLoader(about_req); about_1dr.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onComplete); function onComplete(event:Event):void{ about_txt.text = event.target.data; }var fmt:TextFormat = new TextFormat(); fmt.letterSpacing = 10 about_txt.setTextFormat(fmt);
No matter what value I put in for letterSpacing nothing seems to happen.
The problem is that there are always 2 lines in text area when it runs......when i remove this i get usual one line but then i m not able to set color and all.I want to use textarea, set different colors on it and i dont want 2 lines in that.....
If you are using Flex 3.5 (not my choice) and you scroll the mousewheel over a Text component with multiple lines of htmlText, it will scroll down 1 (sometimes 2) lines, even [URL] I made sure there is not a blank line below the body of text (it ended after the closing). Notice how the top line is now cut off, and an extra line was added at the bottom.
The problem show up when seeing the movie on Flash Player 10 only.
The weird thing, is that word spacing when adding html links, is bigger than normal spacing. NO EXTRA SPACE IS ADDED, it just gets bigger :?
Attached, is a screenshot of the Textfield with the html link, as seen on different players. Font is Helvetica Neue Lt Std, antialias Advanced, embeded NOT as bitmap font.
already checked on the basics of a dynamic textfield (condenseWhite:true, embedFonts:true, e
I have some HTML loaded from an XML document that includes web links (anchor tags). I am using a TextField object to display the text, and am plugging the XML data into the htmlText property of the TextField, and the text is rendering with HTML markup, links are working etc.
The problem I'm seeing is that a new line is created before and after the link, so html like this:
hello world <a href ="#">this is a link</a> and all of this should be on the same line.
is rendered like this (with specific attention paid to the new lines): Does anyone know of a way to prevent these new lines from appearing when using HTML links within a TextField?
For some reason, if you add an image to htmlText, like the following: myText.htmlText = "<img src='"+dataProvider.bodyImage.getUrl('original')+"' align='left' />" + dataProvider.bodyText; The image will be successfully added to the htmlText, but it seems to measure the sizes completely wrong. At times, the actual text (dataProvider.bodyText) will have part 'hidden' under the image. At other times, there are anywhere from 1 to 4 lines cut off at the bottom. However, if you select the text and drag your mouse down, you can see the bottom lines. It appears the text is all there, but the mx:Text component is not including the image in the textHeight, so it doesnt resize the componenet to the correct size.
I have a dynamic text box for 3 lines of text. I styled part of the text to be bold and part of it to be regular. When i click on the button to display the text it looks right the first time but if i click on it a second time then all of the text shows up bold instead of just the few lines i assigned the bold tag to.
I have been working on a map viewer based blitting technique. As part of the map I need to draw approximately 50000 lines and performance is currently really poor.
My code is on the main timeline.I call a function loop to draw lines between them.The lines are drawing between the right x, y values BUT between those values on the main stage, not those values within the kite.For example, dot1_mc is at x100, y0 inside kite. the line that should go from its center, draws from stage x100, 0.How do I draw the lines inside kite so that they draw between the dots?Heres my code that draws the linesPHP Code:
function loop():void{ lineDrawing.graphics.clear(); var a:Point = new Point(kite_mc.dot1_mc.x, kite_mc.dot1_mc.y); var b:Point = new Point(kite_mc.dot2_mc.x, kite_mc.dot2_mc.y); var c:Point = new
I am trying to create a mindmap where the user can drag points about the screen. I have gotten as far as drawing the line via actionscript, and drag+drop the points (defined as movie clips on stage). This is the existing script - I don't know how to get the lines to follow the points. Something to do with ENTER_FRAME or updateAfterEvent?
var line:MovieClip = new MovieClip(); line.graphics.lineStyle(1,1); line.graphics.moveTo(ptOne.x,ptOne.y);
I am currently designing a countdown clock and I would like to add some spacing between the text. But every time I add the spacing it does not work. I just want the days to show and I need them to go over boxes that require the numbers to be spaced out.
In AS3, we can format textfield to a newline by using . And now I'm trying to find out how do I use tab spacing in AS3? I want to format my textfield to look like this:
I've got a Grid whose GridItems contain another DataGrids. (The DataGrid are nested in the Grid). Now I changed the Grid's horizontalGap-StyleProperty to zero. But because there are several DataGrids in one GridItem, there is still about 5-10px spacing in between those DataGrids. How to get rid of these spacings ?
I have at some point imported photoshop graphics into flash where some textfield have had quite a large linespacing.Now, when I create a new textfield it will inherit this linespacing and the properties box have no setting for cahnging itHow can I get rid of this!?Edit:Nevermind, I just copied around some other textfields without linespacing and it dissapeared. A bit strange though that there's no setting for it.
I'm trying to figure out a way to center dynamic text fields vertically after the text has been input. For instance, in some instances I would have a dynamic field with two lines, and I would want to center it between two other dynamic fields- but only after the text has been populated. Maybe a better way of explaining it would be changing the spacing of elements on a page so they're always equidistant from one another.
how can I make the text to have 150% line space when it is HTML enabled? Currently I'm having <br><br> but that's a bit too much. I want it to be 150%.
How can I reduce the space between my linkButtons and inside each linkButton ?
I've set padding to 0 but it was already 0.I've been able to only change the height of the LinkButtons, but I cannot do that with the width because the text is dynamic.[code]...
I'm having a little trouble figuring out how to vertically center dynamic text fields once they're loaded. For instance, some of my text fields are one line while others are 3 lines, and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to space them between other text fields equally.
I am trying to fix an interesting issue with a site. I have xml docs loading text into a site however the text is double spaced and not single. I believe i have all the settings correct in the doc to be single spaced but i cant upload the doc at the moment.
Is there a way of actually controlling the spacing of the tiles I tried imagePadding, but it just pads the image within the tiles. But the tiles still stay next to each other. You can see this when you do a mouse over.
I have a dynamic data being pulled in from a database using flash remoting. I am pulling these variables: newsID, newstxt and newstitle newsID newstitle is a single line dynamic textbox newstxt is a multiline dynamic textbox
I want to pull all the data from the news table and display it. This is what I am trying to do. ID =1 Newstitle Newstxt *Need to set ID = 2 a certain amount of space from where newstxt textbox ends ID =2 NewsTitle Newstxt
Here is the code I have now. getTitles_Result = function(rs){ cant = rs.getLength() for(var i=0; i<cant; i++){ News.duplicateMovieClip("newslist", "newslist"+i, i) [Code] ..... That the is just spacing a certain number. How do I change the code above to get what I need.
Im still relativly new to bringing in xml to flash, but i have read some tutorials and other pages on it. Everything is working fine except for the fact that all the text that isnt an attribute as lots of extra spacing infront of it. I made sure my i set ignoreWhite to true but it still is cuaseing those spaces.
Ok so options is the array there can be many or one outside swf. we go through the array creating empty movieClip and populating each with an outside swf. Once loaded i want to use these newly created movieClips as buttons.
1. can i declare the onPress in a for loop?
2. how do i centre and space them no matter how many they are the will be linear.
Code: for (var i:Number = 1 ; i<options.length; i++){ //create a holder _root.createEmptyMovieClip("optionD"+i,4+i);
