I want to include a link to download a few documents, and I just don't know how to do that.I do Not KNOW what the complete HTTP url will be, just the directory path by that I mean, I know the files will be in "VideoFilesHighRes1.MOV" but I don't have access to the complete URL. This isnt a problem when it comes to loading other Flash objects (IE sounds, different clips etc) For some reason I didn't think the "getURL" request was valid in AS 3.0.....
View 1 RepliesI'm making a Flash program to be downloadable and unlockable on one computer on receipt of payment. To do this, I was looking to create a UUID for a computer which could be checked to make sure that the program has not been moved to another computer but I don't know of any way to access enough information about the computer to make it uniquely identifiable (or even close).
I have also considered having a separate program written in a different language which would have access to this information but I don't know if I can even run it from Flash.
I have a computer and a flash drive that both have the same homework files. I take the flash drive to and from school to work on homework, and I have to manually update those files onto my computer. How can I automatically have the files on my flash drive update the files on my computer?

Be able to create a Flip Book from a pdf file Be able to embed multimedia content (audio, streamed video, swf) in the pages The resulting project should work in every (or most) computer internet browser and mobile devices (android tablets and phones, iPad, iPhone i've done a lot of research already, but I can't seem to find a good solution for this. I've tried a lot of those Flip book creator softwares. Some of them work pretty well, but I haven't found one that does everything.
I'm aware of the biggest difficulty: iPad and iPhone not being able to show flash content. So I'm in the search of an idea or someone pointing me in the right direction.
For example, is there any alternative to Flash to create flipping books? I know that in HTML 5 you can embed multimedia contents that should work with iPad and iPhone, but I don't know if you can do all the "cool" stuff that flash flipping books give you )like transitions, gestures, etc.
I have this function within my flash program that allows a person to make notes, at the moment they notes are just saved from a dynamic textfield to variable and hover around in flash output space, now I really need to get it so that when they click 'save' it exports the text from flash and saves it onto the users computer. I really don't want to use fscommand... and I know it can be done with PHP but trying to find a suitable tutorial is harder than I thought... so I would wondering if anyone could recommend a good tutorial or has done it before and can give some tips?
View 1 RepliesThis is a bit "off base," but I thought someone here may be able to help. I am working on some interactive animations for an upcoming meeting. Ideally, I would love to be able to have an interactive slide within powerpoint, however don't think that is even possible.
That being said, I would like to place a link within a powerpoint presentation, so that when you click it, it launches a browser window and displays the .swf preferably not online, just within a browser window.
Currently, when I try this, it is trying to open up flash to read the .swf, anyone have any experience with something like this?

I'm trying to create a reeaaally simple button in Flash CS3 that on release goes to and plays the next frame.[code]All the button does is starts an mp3 that's embedded in the file. I've made tons of these in the past, but now with CS3 I'm finding this task very difficult. The code is in the button instance, but I'm getting the following error when I publish.
View 1 RepliesI'm sort of new to Flash, have been using it for ages but just to animate, i haven't done any programming or interactive stuff for years, so i feel new to it again!Creating a very simple platform.Movie clip of the character (instance name z_1)- runs button - when pressed makes z_1 invisible and loads another movieclip of him firing a weapon (z_fire). (also makes ground stop moving- basically game is a static running animation, over a moving ground, if that makes sense)This all works fine, i even figured how to make the score increase!After the firing animation is finished (there is a stop on the movieclip) i want the original running animation to be visible again and for the ground etc to play again. The firing animation is only 12 frames long so i imagine i need to tell the button to resume normal service on the stage after that time period![code]It's probably completely wrong but it works, i just need to know the extra code to make the original animations start back again after z_fire has played.

I want to create a simple gallery which is loaded with locally stored FLV short clips. I know how to create a text/image gallery, but I wasn't able to put the VideoDisplay component in the List control.
The final result should be a gallery with videos playing while the cursor is on top of them.

It needs to be both read and writable . Meaning, when the player register to save his character information , he needs to key in his email and a password and create an account. The account shall store that player's life amount, ammunition etc . All the infos are stored on an external file and retrieved again when the player logins to the game with the email as his login ID. Security issues are not the biggest concern here because its not exactly meant to be an online game and I don't think hacking would be something I need to worry about ^^'''

I am trying to create a list of names which is generated by a swf file that contains buttons representing letters of the alphabet. The user generates a name by clicking on the letter buttons until the letters of the name have been spelled out and then clicking on abutton to add each name to the list. The names are generated inside the swf file but I want the list of names to be deposited in a file within a folder of the computer and remain there as a permanent record after the swf file has been closed. I can do the Actionscript 3 programming associated with the letter buttons but I would like to know how to send the names to the computer file.

which doesn't work! I just put this in on assuming that flash would pick up the pdf on my desktop but it cannot open the pdf when you click on the link.
Very new to Flash using CS4, leopard. I made an animation in Flash not using script for an introduction page. I made the sections as another file, following a CS4 tutorial, using actionscript 3 for the buttons etc. How do I stitch these together so that the enter button on the non-script portion accesses the first page of the actionscript file? Also, what is the advantage to remaking the non-script file into action script. The swf file on the non-script file is 376 kb and the ationscript file swf is 404kb.

I have got two flash files now, one called intro.swf and the other called egx.swf. I have a button on the intro file with an instance name of b1, which I want to open up the other file (the egx.swf file). I have tried several codes, but when I get it working, it loads up the homepage, but keeps the text and the button on the intro file up, which I need to get off. Basically I need to link the intro file and the egx file together through the button, and then need to get rid of the intro file from the stage.

View 4 RepliesI am making a Flash portfolio. So far so good except for 1 issue that I've run up against. I have linked my separate .swf files together using the following script:[code]The files are linking, but the problem is that the files are opening on top of each other. In other words, the previous .swf file does not disappear as the new .swf file opens. It opens on top of the last one so the result is a messy layered mess. I thought that keeping the level at 2 would remedy this but no success.

On one of my pages i have a bunch of thumbnails that i want to be able to scroll through and click on and have it open another browser window to an html page I have created.I have placed all the button individually in a motion clip, so I can fade them onto the page when I go to it, and I then have selected all the buttons and changed them to motion clips so I can scroll them.
I created an action file and placed it in its own layer in the first motion clip that all the buttons are on.I am getting access of undefined property errors on all the buttons when I debug.Below is what I have written, I hope someone can tell me what I am doing wrong. I am new to this.
