View 5 RepliesI want to make a light animation where air bubbles come out of a bucket (which slowly moves from left to right) and they float till a certain height untill they dissolve (fade to 0%). I want to have 3 different kind of bubble MC's which I want to generate (duplicate MC???) at random. Further I don't want them to clog eachothers, so they should not be able to move on top of eachothers.For filesize reasons I want to do this as much as possible with an actionscript...

I've tried to look for tutorials similar to this that I can follow but I haven't found anything yet.I can get the xml to load up but I haven't been able to get the name to animate separately. I'm trying to create a reeaaally simple button in Flash CS3 that on release goes to and plays the next frame.[code]All the button does is starts an mp3 that's embedded in the file. I've made tons of these in the past, but now with CS3 I'm finding this task very difficult. The code is in the button instance, but I'm getting the following error when I publish.
View 1 RepliesMy problem is quite simple to describe, in flex: 0.8 - 0.2 = 0.6000000000000001 I'm sure the first two members are 0.8 and 0.2 and are Number class, why would this happen?? And another thing, I cast the value from * type like this:
var value:*=0.8;
var castValue:Number = Number(value);
But nothing more, if I trace value I get 0.8 not 0.800000000000001 or something.
I really don't want something sophisticated, in fact I want the simplest animation for learning purpose:I just want to move a shape on a straight line.Is it possible to do so in pure actionscript (with flex sdk only) by creating a timeline programmatically or without creating timeline ?

View 3 RepliesI'm sort of new to Flash, have been using it for ages but just to animate, i haven't done any programming or interactive stuff for years, so i feel new to it again!Creating a very simple platform.Movie clip of the character (instance name z_1)- runs button - when pressed makes z_1 invisible and loads another movieclip of him firing a weapon (z_fire). (also makes ground stop moving- basically game is a static running animation, over a moving ground, if that makes sense)This all works fine, i even figured how to make the score increase!After the firing animation is finished (there is a stop on the movieclip) i want the original running animation to be visible again and for the ground etc to play again. The firing animation is only 12 frames long so i imagine i need to tell the button to resume normal service on the stage after that time period![code]It's probably completely wrong but it works, i just need to know the extra code to make the original animations start back again after z_fire has played.
View 2 RepliesOkay, now things are getting a little complicated. I need to build a Flash object that can sit over the corner of an image to serve extra content. It's way beyond my Flash skill level, my work is usually limited to print work in Photoshop and Illustrator so please excuse me if any of the following isn't clear. I am trying to learn though, So this is how it's all supposed to work, along with my issues; When the image & Flash item load a small looping animation will play to draw the eye/show the item as interactive.
When the user rolls over this the corner will peelback. I have a working peelback animation for the rollover, that reacts to mouse over/mouse off, and a looping animation for the initial, but I cannot work out how to make the initial loop until mouseover, then play the peelback when the mouse is over. And go back to the initial animation loop if the user rolls off. (Each of these animations is stored as a movie clip in the Library)
Then it gets more complicated... if the user stays on the corner until it is fully peeled back I need to make a small countdown (sort of a 3, 2, 1 situation) show, before launching a lightbox (would this have to be jQuery, or could it be done in Flash?) in the browser to serve the content.

I am trying to create a simple animation, juste a picture that need to move from left to write while rotating around the vertical axis.I tried just to have the first position normal and the final position scaled at -100% in width but it also distort and move up and down.I already did that in acstionscript but not just graphicaly.

I want to create a simple gallery which is loaded with locally stored FLV short clips. I know how to create a text/image gallery, but I wasn't able to put the VideoDisplay component in the List control.
The final result should be a gallery with videos playing while the cursor is on top of them.

It needs to be both read and writable . Meaning, when the player register to save his character information , he needs to key in his email and a password and create an account. The account shall store that player's life amount, ammunition etc . All the infos are stored on an external file and retrieved again when the player logins to the game with the email as his login ID. Security issues are not the biggest concern here because its not exactly meant to be an online game and I don't think hacking would be something I need to worry about ^^'''
I've tried Xml with AS, but I realised that, that alone canot allow me to write the player's info into the xml file.

i am currently trying to create a fish pond with fishes in it, i have parts of these fishes which i hope i can join them together to create a animation of a fish and be able to control it easily, as i will have to implement some AI on the fish, such as moving to eat a food etc. i am very new to flash and have no idea how can i go about doing this, how can i combine the images to form a fish and then be able to control the whole fish and have it move naturally like a fish without much knowledge of AS3?

View 2 RepliesI'm ultimately trying to create a flash page for an html website that has a brief five-second animation during which 3 buttons fade in (buttons then become clickable after the animation is over).
The animation part is done. Right now, I am trying to get my movie to stop and hold on the last frame, where I want to add the 3 buttons that the user can click on to take them to one 3 different html pages of my website.
All instructions that I've found online have said to create a new layer for actions, insert a keyframe on the last frame of the movie, and add stop(); in the actionscript window. However, when I have the keyframe selected, my actionscript window says "current selection cannot have actions applied to it".
I definitely don't have any objects selected, just the keyframe.
You can see that I have the frame (a keyframe) that I want to insert a "stop" action selected in the Actions layer. This is the first frame in which the buttons exist, and from what I can tell, I need the clip to stop on the first frame of my buttons, after my animation is over. (Still figuring out how to get the buttons to work, but will address that later...)

I need to create flash interactive animation for one one of my regular clients, which should look and work similar to example bellow: Link This is how my clients product (shirt) should look like and what sections should be editable: [URL] Basically it should work this way:
1. End user chooses some element of shirt which he would like to edit (for example collar)
2. When he clicks on that element, popup windows shows offering two main options: to change color and graphic (texture or pattern), same as on nike store customize example
3. After user changes one section (collar) he goes to other section (lets say sleeve) and so on
4. User should be able to zoom in or zoom out that shirt and also if it is possible to rotate it in 4-5 positions
5. At the end it should be able to save that work (and load it if he wants to later ) and be able to print it.
I have made many animations, games, banners and similar using Macromedia Flash MX and Adobe Flash so I am not a flash newbie but this is a first time I am dealing with this type of work.I know that there is no step by step tutorial for this kind of custom interactive animation. how to create these three first steps (1. 2. 3). Regarding steps (4.) and (5.) I think I could realize it (zoom in, zoom out, rotate movieclip, save in database and print screen), because I had some previous experience regarding this part.
I want to change the code a little bit by creating an Input Text. A random number will be typed in that text instead of having a fixed, pre-set number.

I get 0.0199999999999996 instead of 0.02. I need to get only decimals so that i will be able to write 15.02 like 15:02 or 1.2 like 01:20. I need to write numbers like in digital clock.
I'm creating an animated background/flash animation, in short I have several tweened pieces all moving/swinging around and I want them all to loop at the end of their individual loops. Each piece is on its own layer) I have been using gotoAndPlay(2); (I'm using a preloader so frame 2 is the start). The problem is (If I'm correct here) is the first layer to reach the end runs the "go to and play" resetting everything!. I want each layer to act independantly. Is there a different version of gotoAndPlay(2); that will work or am I looking at things like nested animations/importing individual fla's ect (all of which goes over my head).

View 2 RepliesI am having trouble getting a simple animation to play properly, on a site designed by someone else, in IE. It works fine in Mozilla and Safari. In IE, on some computers, it shows up but there is a prompt about downloading a Shockwave add-on. On other computers it doesnt show up at all. Going from Mac to PC is also presenting problems. I'm freelance, so it's not like I'm in the office with these other people, so I only know what's going on with the 3 pc's I have at my disposal; which is as described above.
View 3 RepliesDraw a rectangle using the rectangle tool; select the text tool and create a text box inside of the rectangle, and type in BEGIN; make sure it fits inside the rectangle; select entire image by left clicking then dragging over it; convert to symbol button.
Then, I add in the code of going to keyframe 4 when released (which works fine). But when I test it out and mouse over the button, I can still select the text which gives me like barely any space where I can click the button to go to keyframe 4. This is reeaaallly annoying me. How can I fix this?
I am going to try a project over the next few months using CS4 and AS3. I want to animate 3 individual letters. Each is to come out of the page (sitting flush, a zero z-axis). When the mouse rolls over each letter, the letter is to jump out and up towards the camera/user. I know how to bump map each letter in PS, and make a rotating cube in Flash. I am looking into making the individual letters with Matrices as I have some old FriendsOfEd books.

When it moves completely off the stage, and I want it to move back to the bottom of the screen and rise up again. I'm totally new to ActionScript 3 and just trying some very simple things to try to understand how it works in Flash CS5. I have no-one mentoring me so these forums are my first port of call. I wanted to create a simple random number generator. Very simple. Click on a button (first_50) that displays a random number in a text box (main_balls.text) set to Classic/Dynamic. The script I have is as follows:

I get no errors in the compiler and my button works in runtime. I just don't get a number in my text box when I click on it.
