Flash :: Flex / AS3 Very Strange Simple Number Operation
May 27, 2011
My problem is quite simple to describe, in flex: 0.8 - 0.2 = 0.6000000000000001 I'm sure the first two members are 0.8 and 0.2 and are Number class, why would this happen?? And another thing, I cast the value from * type like this:
var value:*=0.8;
var castValue:Number = Number(value);
But nothing more, if I trace value I get 0.8 not 0.800000000000001 or something.
I have a random number and a textfield.how to put the result of the random number operation in the textfield ?
function fl_GenerateRandomNumber(limit:Number):Number{ var randomNumber:Number = Math.floor(Math.random()*(limit+1)); return randomNumber;}trace(fl_GenerateRandomNumber(100));[code]....
I'm doing some calculation with numbers and would like to only print an integer (the number without the decimals).I thought that the toFixed() method of the Number class would do the trick, and it does most of the time. But quite frequently strange values are returned. Here are 2 examples:
Number(0.002).toFixed(0) returns "0." while Number(1.002).toFixed(0) returns "1" (without the period) Once in a while, Number(0.002).toFixed(0) returns "1"
Needless to say that's not the expected behaviour. Am I not using this method correctly?
*edit: I know I just have to do int(0.002) to get 0 but I'd like to understand that strange behaviour.
I'm doing a simple commercial animation for school and it is about raising gas prices.I wanted to animate numbers rising but can't find ANYTHING close to what i need
Apparently I am experiencing a can't find managedQuery or ManagedOperation named:getStudentprofile error
As I researched in some forums, I learned that the one causing this error is that I have duplicate instances of my data services in other components...So my question is how can I share my data services to other components? I don't have an idea how. These are the declarations that I need to share to other components:
I want to be able to change the result of the operation "Call_One" to another result, since I am planning to re-use the same web service, but the result would be treated differently.
How do can you detect and dispatch an event when a drag and drop operation ends prematurely? I need to know that the user is no longer dragging an item. Even if the dragDrop and dragComplete events do no fire. Its almost as if I need to add an event listener to the dragManager, but that's not really possible..
I am aware that Action Script does not provide multithreading so when writing flex application we are limited to work on one thread. which is ok for rendering my UI.
However some questions arise when preferring flex over silverlight:
As a UI layer single thread is good enough but is it fair to assume that for Aync httpservice like operations in flex , internally it would use some worker threads to manage the async operation and then come back to the main thread ? it looks like it does since my UI does not freeze.Can the flex/flash player deal with multiple httpservice calls in parallel ? ( e.g more than one section of the UI loading data at the same time.)How about the animation stuff ( e.g the parallel animation ) - does flash player internally leverages some threading for accelerating graphics or is it all done on the UI thread ?
I have a tree control with a custom item renderer. The item renderer has different states that should be set while an item is being dragged over the item renderer. I understand from reading this post [URL] that the 'right way' to do this is to override the 'getCurrentState' method and append some text. I do that.
Now in my tree control I handle the drag over event and get a reference to the itemrenderer that is being dragged over and I set the boolean 'dragOver' property to true. Now I just need to force my itemRenderer to redraw. I can't figure that out. A workaround, is to just set the currentState of the itemRenderer.
how can I force my itemRenderer to refresh? (and I've tried calling validateNow, invalideDisplayList/Properties/Size, to no avail)
Here's the code that allows multi-select list to drag into a tree area. What I would like to do is to change the alpha of the image that gets dragged around. I've done some research but most of the discussions out there talk about how to change the dragged image. What I want to do is simply change the default alpha of the dragged item from 0.5 to say 0.2. Also this solution should be able to handle multiple select dragging.
Below is a simple example of drag and drop that I would like to modify to allow for the alpha change of the draged item.
I'm not sure exactly where this is happening, but what I'm trying to do is make a scrolling ticker using flex, and it works fine when there is one of them on the screen, but when there are two, strange things happen.The way I have designed this for live updating, when the child of my hbox goes off the screen, I remove it and add another child to the end of it.This happens to reset the X position of the hbox, which isn't too bad, but it also resets the X position of any other hbox I have on the screen.Here is code that demonstrates what I'm seeing:
To use this, run the flex program, then click in the first hbox to set its x position to your mouseX. When the x position of the second hbox (hbox3) is reset, so will the first hbox's (hbox2) X position.
I want to get rounded number Example: I want to get full number I write Code: cas=15.02 int(cas) and I get 15
But when I write these Code: cas=15.02 lol=cas - int(cas) trace(lol) I get 0.0199999999999996 instead of 0.02. I need to get only decimals so that i will be able to write 15.02 like 15:02 or 1.2 like 01:20. I need to write numbers like in digital clock.
I have run into strange behavior drawing a sprite into a BitmapData. This sprite looks fine when drawn directly to the screen. But when this sprite is drawn into a BitmapData, the sprite is being masked... but there is no such mask applied to that sprite! This "bad mask" can be toggled off and on... by applying / not-applying a different mask to the sprite I am drawing. This mask is not the same shape or location as the "bad mask".
Now I set dragEnabled="true", dropEnabled="true" and dragMoveEnabled="true" to archive the ability to reorder my Items via Drag and Drop. But as soon as I start to Drag an Item the whole Application crashes with:
I created a custom layout for a list, to be used on a mobile (android). I used this as example : [URL], using virtualization. Now the problem I have is with scrolling : when scrolling to the bottom of the list, there seems to be always a "bounce back", as if the list would have reached and as if the bounce/pull effect is taking place. But in fact the list has not reached the end at all, in fact I can not even scroll to the last element in the list. When going back from bottom to top, there's no problem at all.
I trace the top and bottom of the Scrolling Rectangle (Rectangle.getScrollRect) and there I can see that when scrolling down, the top and bottom parameters increase, but when releasing the touchscreen, all of a sudden the parameters decrease again with a certain amount, and so never reaching the end of the list. All my code is available on google project hosting : [URL]
I'm desperately trying to fix a strange behavior in my custom iconitemrenderer list: When I change the view to the view with the list inside and start scrolling, the list gets white for the fraction of a second (apperently completely redrawn), but only once when scrolling the first time after the view change.
[Code]...
I think the problem is in the myList.dataProvider.itemUpdated(oldItem), apperently the renderer thinks it has to redraw everthing, but I have no idea why.. and why only after the view is shown again.if it's a bug or something? how can I get rid of this bahavior or how can I debug this this properly?
I'm totally new to ActionScript 3 and just trying some very simple things to try to understand how it works in Flash CS5. I have no-one mentoring me so these forums are my first port of call. I wanted to create a simple random number generator. Very simple. Click on a button (first_50) that displays a random number in a text box (main_balls.text) set to Classic/Dynamic. The script I have is as follows:
first_50.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, firstFiftyGenerator); function firstFiftyGenerator(limit:Number):Number { var randomNumber:Number = Math.floor(Math.random()*(limit+1)); return randomNumber; main_balls.text = String(firstFiftyGenerator(50));
I get no errors in the compiler and my button works in runtime. I just don't get a number in my text box when I click on it.
I'm turning to you folks for answers because this really blows my mind... Let me explain:I'm using a slightly modified spark NumericStepper as an item editor in a datagrid. I had to modify the original because for some reason it's values only went up to 10.So i extended NumericStepper like so:
I'm doing a simple drag and drop number game for kids. Once the user places all the numbers and presses the go button (btn_go) how do I get a another button appearing after the user has click the go button?
I have flash form that saves data to csv-file. It worked fine after allowing axtiveX.ut after updating ie to 8 and flash player to 10 (I guess it wasn't 10). The script has stopped working, and I'll get the error "flash has stopped a potentially unsafe operation...".I should probably change the player setting but I'm not sure how. Like some other method besides javascript to save data locallyI managed to get it work by doing it allover again, not sure what was the problem , might be what is suggested beneath, which is funny becouse It was working correcly before...
i have some code which (among else) used external interface call and navigate to url.When i publish it in flash cs3 and try to run html from local hard drive i get a warning popup telling me: flash player has stopped a potencially unsafe operation.
I have a website. You can see that website both by typing in(not REALLY my website...I'm just using examples here)This website has a flash intro that at the very end enables the user to either choose to go to the html version of my site or the flash version, each option represented by a button.The strange thing is that if I'm on theURL of my site, everything works ok there. However, if I'm on the version with the "www" added into the URL, those buttons don't work. You still get the little "finger" indicator, but when you press, nothing happens.
I need to check (for my own good reasons) whether the cursor is located within the bounds of a particular object. I'm using a simple code to do this...
This, theoretically, should work perfectly! However, there is an offset (and one I did NOT set, mind you!) of about 16 between the hsSlot1's visual position (where it appears to start on the screen) and hsSlot1.x. There is a similar offset on the y axis, but I haven't measured it yet.The only thing I can think of for this is that hsSlot1 is an instance of a button (one with only one state at that) that was scaled to fit. However, I don't think that is it, because the numbers show that the entire object is merely offset at its current size.
I am working on a flash website that loads live inventory data from a public csv file publish by google docs. the csv file is located at a public address on google docs server:[URL].. I am using a URLloader and URLrequest within my flash movie to grab this data and assign it to different variables.
It works great when I preview the movie in flash. However, when I go to publish the movie and preview the html file its loaded into in dreamweaver, I get a security warning from adobe flash player: Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation
I went ahead and published the html file that contains the swf file to the web, and when I go to my site, I don't even get the flash player warning; it just sits there like its trying to load the URLrequest and never completes.
I understand that flash player has a security measures that prevents flash files from accessing files outside of the server directory that the swf file is published to. I know you can create policy xml files to tell flash it's okay to load the data, but those policy files have to be located on the public server from which the data is being grabbed. But it's not like I can waltz on to google's servers a stick a policy file in there!
Is there any way to tell the flash player it's okay to load this data without getting that security error? I can't have the end user having to go into their flash settings and adding the location manually. I just need it to work without the security warning.
Is there another method of loading data from an external server without tripping up flash player security? aka, something other than URLloader and URLrequest?
I'm using swfobject to embed my flash. I've created a simple textfield using FlexBuilder. It's an AS3 project, which extends Sprite. I've set its width to be 640 and height to 450. Then, in the swfobject parameters of the page, I've also set 640 x 450. I've made the background nice and red and ugly so you can see it. [URL]. It seems to be the right dimensions.
But I've got a textfield which is supposed to be almost the same size and height. This runs fine in FlexBuilder (is the right size) but is all messed up once I add swfobject Can anyone see what is happening? I just looked at it and it looks ok. But then I refreshed the page and the textfield is postage-stamp size (again -- this is the original behavior I saw.) It's now looking OK in firefox but not in IE8. Flash is supposed to look the same in all browsers?
I'm just moving from programming in Flash to Flex.
I want to create a simple gallery which is loaded with locally stored FLV short clips. I know how to create a text/image gallery, but I wasn't able to put the VideoDisplay component in the List control.
The final result should be a gallery with videos playing while the cursor is on top of them.
