ActionScript 3.0 :: CS3 Linestyle / User Drawing With Variable

Feb 23, 2009

I'm attempting to make a very simple drawing programme. There will be maybe 4/5 buttons. Three of them when you click on the change the color of the line the user draws. the other two will change the line thickness. I've tried setting up a variable to set to how thick the line should be depending on the button the user has pressed.But it has no effect - i'm guessing that's because the variable only exists within the confines of the function that I have it in.[code]

Create Own Mask Around A Jpg Image By Drawing Around It On The Mask Layer

Dec 4, 2009

maybe point me towards a better way to mask. png file is way too big. I have been using the mask layer option to create my own mask around a jpg image by drawing around it on the mask layer. There has to be a fetter and faster way to do this. Is it possible to maybe have a specific color range have an alpha value of 0. Similar to green screening whereas If I put the item I want to clip on a green background flash will auto take out the green for me. and by auto I mean action script maybe. I think this can be done but im not finding it.

how are these guys clipping these images [URL] they have the movie clips set up where the black background on the 3 layers of shoes is getting masked out. When I go into the shoe movie clips I see there is a black background but it just disappears when I go back to main timeline.

Flex :: 3 - Diagonally Draw Text In A Shape And Adjust Size

Mar 30, 2011

I'm trying to create the following component: Just for information, the blank space will contain a text control, and I'm creating a component that represents the black corner with the (i) icon and the "promotion" text. The part I'm having issues with is this component representing the black corner with the diagonal text. The text has to be able to hold 2 lines. And the black corner has to be able to adjust to the text's size. What's more, the text has a rotation... I'm having some doubts on how to do this:

Should I have different controls for each text line? Should I draw the text in the shape (after doing the rotation) or should I just overlap both components? [When I talk about drawing the text in the shape, I mean in the same way as asked in this question] Is there any way to get the proper size of the triangle shape without doing some extravagant calculations?

Mask Multiple Shape Tweens?

Everything works fine when I'm only masking/tweening one shape. But as soon as I add a few more dquares to the mix everything goes to hell. Can someone tell me the most efficient way to have multiple shapes tweening, while masking an image underneath them?

- Has to fill non-circular letters(i.e. does not have to be precise, but look like it has edges)

- Circles have to animate in, therefore they need to have drop shadow and seem like they are landing in place

ActionScript :: Drawing An Image In The Center Of A Shape?

Oct 20, 2011

I'm trying to draw an image in actionscript, I set it as a BitmapFill within a rectangle. The problem is that if I move the rectangle away from the origin(0,0), in my case I start drawing the rectangle at (20,35), the bitmap background doesn't follow along. The background is always drawn at (0,0) and then repeated, so I don't get a centered image but rather 2 halved images. Here's what my code looks like:

public class PageTileRenderer extends VBox
{
private var sp:Shape;

[Code]....

how to move the background fill origin. Or is there another solution to draw the image centered.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Using Drawing API To Mask?

Jun 15, 2006

I'm trying to get a better handle on creating dynamic content, so I made a little experimental Flash file to test out programming with more robust and portable code to accomplish it (). I have two functions, one creates rounded rectangles and the other regular rectangles. I'm planning on using the regular rectangle to hold an image (which it does), and the rounded rectangle as a mask to give the appearance of a rectangle with uh, rounded corners. I've run into a couple problems with this:

1. The mask doesn't apply to the image. The regular rectangle (pictureHolder_mc) will appear and the picture (a .JPG file) will load into it; the rounded rectangle (pictureHolderMask_mc) will even appear on top of the picture. But as soon as I use the setMask() method, the mask disappears and not in the cool applying-to-the-movie way.

2. Both the rounded rectangle function and regular rectangle function have parameters for X and Y coordinates that worked fine when I was testing without trying to load an image. As soon as I did, it'd put the image at (0,0) for some reason, even with 300 passed for X and 50 for Y.

3. I've set up an onRelease() function for the image-holding movieclip that calls a tweening function, just to test out functionality. It doesn't work so hot; the mouse doesn't even turn into the clicky button cursor when the movieclip's rolled over.

Code:
import mx.transitions.Tween;
import mx.transitions.easing.*;
stop();

[code]....

ActionScript 3.0 :: Drawing Irruglar Shape With Rounded Corners?

I first thought about doing two rounded rectangles to fake it, but the line cross over (pointing green arrow) will overlap. Anyone have ideas on how to approach this? If i go with the drawing api, is there a formula to working out the rounded curveTo angles on the corners to always be the same radius?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Animated Mask (shape Tween) Triggering Masssive CPU Usage?

Jul 19, 2011

I have a site that is fairly complex, but was using a massive amount of CPU power, even when sitting idle on a page with no animations. I went through everything with a fine toothed comb, and couldn't find the culprit.So I just started removing layers one by one, until I found the one causing the problem.

Turns out it was a layer with an animated mask. I have a large black recatangle, that I converted to a mask, and then used a shape tween on it. Once that was triggered. The CPU usage went up 65-75%. Even when the movie was stopped on a frame that that mask didn't exist on. Once it was triggered, the rest of the time you are on the site the CPU usage is through the roof. I can do to fix that. Is there some other way I should build an animated mask?
