Does anyone know if there's a workaround to the fact that when you escape fullscreen mode in a browser, the swf seems to lose focus? I'm doing fullscreen video and I have to press the pause button twice when returning from fullscreen. I noticed the same problem with YouTube videos.
View 1 RepliesI built this incredibly brilliant scrolling thumbnail image viewer for a client in flash actionscript 3. (Basically it just scrolls up or down depending on the mouse position). It works so so, (I can never get the percentages right so that it shows the top most image) but, that's beside the point. What is REALLY irking me is when I have the browser window open with my .swf loaded and I click on another app on my desktop, the stupid scrolling thumbnail area in the browser window starts to freak out.
"Where is my mouseY?" I assume it is thinking.
Is there a stage.Unfocus event I can tell my scrolling thumbnail area to STFU with?
I'd even consider writing some javascript to call a flash function, if that's a preferred technique.

I have a class listening for key presses attached to the stage, works fine until...a menu item that when clicked removes the menu from the display list. This seems to cause the stage to lose focus & I need to click the mouse on the SWF to get the keys to register again.

Is it possible to somehow not lose focus from a TextField when pressing a button?
In my Flex Project using Cairngorm, I have a model that stores a bindable ArrayCollection displayed by a DataGrid. My problem occurs when the model is updated by the responder (from a Java service, after an "update" event), because the focus located in a cell of the DataGrid is lost (the scroll position il also lost). So, I retrieve the position before the update, with DataGridEvent.ITEM_FOCUS_IN event :
myModel.focusedCell.rowIndex = e.rowIndex;
myModel.focusedCell.columnIndex = e.columnIndex;
But, from where restore these parameters ? How to trigger this update only when the model is updated ?
I'm trying to watch a flash video in fullscreen mode on a second monitor but whenever I click anything that causes the flash video to lose focus the video minimizes and goes to it's normal size. Is there a fix for this? or at least a way to zoom in on the video so its nearly fullscreen? neither IE8 or firefox 3's zoom functions will zoom in on flash.

Right now if you are in fullscreen mode and click a hotspot you are automatically kicked out of fullscreen mode and the pop-up then opens. Is it possible to have the pop-up open and have focus while in the background the panorama is still in fullscreen mode?

What I'm trying to do here is to build a simple XML document and then submit it to a PHP script.I'm having 2 major problems:
1. Building the XML document. I'm not sure that I'm doing it right. If I don't first create a root node (mapXML = <xml/>; ) then it refuses to create any nodes. I would prefer to create "planet" as the root node, but if I do that instead then it just duplicates it (planet -> planet -> other child nodes....)
2. Even more annoying, it's escaping the quotation marks, no matter what I do. In the final XML document there are backslashes before the quotes.At this point I'm not really certain at what point it's happening, whether it's in the XML parsing or whether it happens when I prepare the data for uploading. I'm submitting a large Base-64 encoded chunk, though, so URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES is out

I decided I might want to compress the data before base-64 encoding it, since the map data is very large - 500x500 bytes. I tried deflate() with my ByteArray object. Didn't work. Said the method was undefined. Tried compress(). That worked. Why? The docs say it should be the other way around, that compress() only works in AIR. I am not compiling for AIR, and this .swf runs in the webbrowser just fine, compression and all)
I am finding this task challenging in AS3.if I am missing something basic/simple or some builtin method which can do this. I am not well versed with RegExp.I have a DYNAMIC string representing full file path which looks exactly like "d: empabc.doc". I want to extract the filename part from complete string e.g. abc.doc.I am aware of techniques like using "fullPath.lastIndexOf("\")" or regular expressions. The problem is it doesn't seem to work if you have "" in your path. It works with "/". The path being dynamic can't be manipulated to replace "" with "/" or any other delimiter. My interpretation is that since "" is used to escape characters - ANY character appearing AFTER "" is ignored by actionscript. e.g.[code]
View 3 Repliesi'm exporting xml from flash to a file on the server as a URLVariables string. When the file arrives on the server every double quotation mark has been escaped invalidating the xml. I suspect the URLRequest class may be doing this.

when i have this line active(the red one) it gives me automatic focus, so no clicking to be able to detect key input so i got that going for me which is nice BUT when i have it active(not commented out) i get this big yellow line which goes away when i click it(seeBelow)

I like to make a fullscreen desktop application, with an FLV, using the FLV Playback component. However, I�d like there to be a Fullscreen button on the playback component, which will allow the user to toggle the video fullscreen.I cant, for the life of me, figure out how to do this with various settings�it should be easy! View 3 RepliesWhat I've done is created a "fullscreen SWF" by using ActionScript to stretch a movie clip (yellow rectangle) in the background to fill the whole browser frame. The navigation is positioned in the upper left using ActionScript also; when the user resizes the window, positions are adjusted so the nav always stays in the upper left. (Adapting the technique from http:[url]....
External SWFs are loaded from an XML file into a blank movie clip on a layer that is between the yellow background and the navigation (adapting the kirupa XML Photo Gallery). Here's my problem: I want to be able to create full screen backgrounds for these external SWFs so when they are loaded into the main SWF they cover up all the of yellow background of the main clip. Also if the user resizes the window, I hope like the main SWF, the background on the external SWF can also resize to match.
If you press next twice to get to item three for example, I want to be able to stretch that orange box to fill the entire background. You'll notice if you resize the window on the third item, the orangle rectangle will adjust, it's just not correct.
I'm hoping someone can help me with an issue I'm having.

I followed a dynamic gallery scrolling thumbs tutorial and then changed it quite a bit to fit my needs.
I basically added a previous and next button and image title box.
It all works great apart from one thing.
e.g. I click on thumb 5. I then use the next button and go to say... image15. I then click on thumb 9. When I use the prev or next button again it will resume from image15, but it should then carry on from thumb 9 as that was the last change I made.
I thought this would be as simple as assigning the thumb variable value to the image number variable. i.e myID = id; but it doesn't work. my variable myID actually loses its value when I click the thumb image (I used the trace to clarify).

I've noticed recently (the last week) that when I open Flash CS4, the Tools panel and the Actions/Timeline/Compiler Errors/Output panel group are not automatically open, like they always were before. Does anyone know of anything I could have changed by accident?
At the same time this started happening, I have a file that has a moving hot spot that is set with keyframes (depending where the active button is on the bitmaped screen capture behind the button). Even though the button's onRelease handlers are advancing the timeline correctly, my button is not in the right place in the runtime version. If's still fine in the development environment. It's like the layers are out of sync with each other.
I'm using Flash uploader(uploadify, swfupload) with CodeIgniter, want to get the session data. I have found out that the flash does not send the session data, so I have set $config['sess_match_useragent'] = FALSE;

recently tried developing an flash application that would send info to php and php should read a browser cookie and pass back the cookie value as e.g myCookie = $myCookie, where:

I found the problem. I had my container as a guide. I took off the guide and it shows up in my server. But why did it show up on my local computer if it still was on guide then?I have external jpgs that are loading into a flash website. When I run it off my hard drive it works. But when I put it on my server the external jpgs are no longer loading. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong with my paths?

so basically just a function to add drag and drop functionality to an asset, note that when you mouse_down on the asset it takes it from where-ever it is and moves it to a container that sits at the top level in front of everything else.
This however appears to 'disable' the mouse_up event, which is never called in this case. If i remove the re-parenting then the mouse_up is called fine.
I'm making a flash site, and i want it to load full browser with a "fullscreen"-button to go fullscreen. The problem, however, if i resize, the site will keep the same width-to-height ratio...But if i'm testing it using the flash debugger, everything resizes just correct...My html:

I just recently made an online game and was asked to implement saving features. Everything works fine but a single detail... When I update the swf (right now I have a new version with corrected bugs) people are gonna lose all their saved data !
Is there a way to use the same shared objects over multiple swf ? Or simply to keep them over the version change ?
