ActionScript 3.0 :: How Ever Load Always Returns True And Write Always Returns False

Nov 4, 2011

I have a load file and a write to file method. We all know what they do. How ever load always returns true and write always returns false....Right there you know somethings wrong. Because The forums have an issue with me posting code...I posted it here: [URL] Based on this code what is the issue here? why is write always returning false and why is load always returning true? (even for files that do not exist). My understanding is that if flash cannot find the file it should write to it will create it and if it cant load said file, then that method should return false.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Collision / HitTest Never Returns True

Mar 10, 2006

For some reason my hitTest in the following function is not working. With each onEnterFrame of the mc being "fired", I am checking to see if it is touching one of the "clouds" I have floating by. My traces tell me that I am targeting everything correctly, but for some reason, hitTest never returns true. Even when I see the mcs colliding. The "clouds" are dynamically attached and pushed into an array (cloudsArr) The clouds and the "fire" mcs are on differnent timelines, but should that matter if I am targeting them correctly?

ActionScript 2.0 :: ExternalInterface.available Returns False On A Mac?

Sep 20, 2006

I'm triyng to get the browsers back-button to work with my flash site. The general principle is this:There is an index.html page containing an (not yet) hidden Iframe and the flash movie.The Iframe contains page A, which starts with JavaScript calling a BACK-function on the index-page.The BACK-function triggers an AS-function in the flash-movie that activates its own back-button, and then changes the URL of the Iframe to Page B. This causes a new History to be added to the browser.The flash movie now contains 5 frames (labeled in the middle of the stage) and two navigation buttons: back (Terug) and forward (Verder). Those buttons do exactly what you'd expect them to do (prevFrame and nextFrame).On a PC (IE) this seems to work pretty well. But on a mac nothing seems to work propperly.Here's the code I have on the first frame.

stop();
_root.terug.onRelease = function(){
prevFrame();

ActionScript 3.0 :: Hittestpoint Returns True Even After Object Is Removed?

Nov 29, 2009

I have six objects which are on the stage when my game loads up. I have stored them in an array in my Document class. Occassionaly I run through this array and check if something has hit these objects and remove them if so. i don't actually remove them from the array though. I'm finding though that even after these objects have been removed from the stage, the hittestpoint still returns true when something crosses the area where these objects once where?! Doesn't the object have to be there for hitTestPoint to return true?

I am trying to get the value of a global variable from JS. The variable is defined in the HEAD section of my HTML document.

As I debug my application this call keeps returning "undefined" but if I make the same call in firebug's console it returns a string as expected.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Menu Navigation System - Dropdown Appears And Returns When The Dropdown Returns

Jul 15, 2004

I'm having with a menu navigation system. I'm using Flash MX. I have created a menu system for the site I'm building ([URL]) where one of the buttons "Choose photographer" drops down a list of names. All the other buttons just jump to another page. The drop down is currently using tweens also the logo moves to the left as the dropdown appears and returns when the dropdown returns. All working fine apart from its a bit jerky.

It's I just wanted to get away from tweening and use action scripts instead, as I'm a newbie to all things Flash I trawled the net for tutorials and examples so that I could cobble together the exact same effect. I have managed to get the drop down work and return using the action script and it does seem smoother and works slightly better. But can I get the logo to move to the left and back in time with the drop down...no.

Playing And Sending Stand-alone Swf?

Sep 3, 2010

I have recently been having problems with my swf file. When i export it by hitting "command enter" it seems to export fine. But then I realized that when i exit flash and click to view the swf it opens up in flash instead of the flash player as it normally does. The other implications of this is that when I send the swf file to someone who doesn't have flash (but is able to play swf files) they are not able to open the files because it wants to open up in flash.The file is a simple web banner that is limited to 40kb.

Look into creating a Flash "Projector" file. It's an exe, executable file and can self-contain the player you need to play the Flash without opening the browser.In the "Publish" setings, check the projector box. Here's a link to one tutorial but their are lots more, Google "Flash Projector files"[URL]

ActionScript 3.0 :: Stand Alone App From CS5 And Keyboard Input?

Feb 18, 2011

I have in a previous project published a game as a standalone app and run it full screen. It would allow users to put their info in for high scores.

Now i am working on another game that will be published as a standalone app. It will need to be full screen and have an entry form at the end for high scores. It does not seem to allow the keyboard to enter text in an input box. Is this true?

Note, this is not an swf played through a browser, but an actual .exe generated from Flash CS5. If this is true, is there a workaround. I need if full screen with keyboard input.

AS3 :: Packaging External Files Into One Stand-alone.swf ?

Jun 13, 2011

I've created a very large scale Flash game and have apparently had a massive oversight - the flash portal websites wishing to host my game need it in one stand alone .swf. However, the problem is I load everything externally. I load the level data from .plist files, the images from .png and the sound from .wav, all located in folders in the .swf directory. They're loaded through Loader's and URLRequest.

Is there any way I can embed these so it will run as a stand alone? Preferably an easier way than individually writing embed lines, as there are 1000s of files.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Building A Quiz That Is Not Stand-Alone

Dec 6, 2010

I've looked online at different quiz-building tutorials, but almost all of them are for stand-alone quizzes. I am adding the quiz as part of a whole interface design. When you click on one of the sign buttons I have on it, a mask will appear and the first four quiz questions will appear. Once those are answered, the next four will appear (probably when they click "next" or something). When I get to the end, I want the results of their quiz to appear.I want to try to use the code my teacher wrote for me so I don't have to build anything extra.if that doesn't work, can I embed a .swf into the file I'm working on? I need this quiz; everything else in my project is done (aside from some tweaking) and I need this finished AND working by Dec. 17.[code]

IDE :: Generate Exe Files From Stand Alone Application?

Oct 7, 2009

Is it possible to generate an executable file from a flash executable file? A client has requested a quote from that will allow them to do the following: This whole thing needs to reside on a CD/DVD.

There is a bank of 10 images. The user selects any 5 images they want. The user saves those 5 images as a slideshow / powerpoint / executable file?

Are there other utilities that can do this kind of thing? Is flash the wrong development tool? Are there other tools out there that perform this type of function?

Google has provided no results for me. I've often lurked through the forums here and I thought that maybe the community here may have some answers as I can't seem to find them anywhere.

ActionScript 1/2 :: Saving Image To Server From Stand Alone SWF Using PHP?

Jan 12, 2010

I built an information terminal for the shop of a friend of mine which uns as fullscreen application.On this terminal the swf file is running as a stand alone file by unsing the flash player directly.I want to save a snapshot (jpg) from a webcam if someboy presses a button.This does work as long as I run my application (swf) by using the browser (Firefox , Apache and localhost).But if I try to use it as it should be used no image is beeing created.

There was an error when first testing the application which forwarded me to an Adobe site where I had the possibility to grant files permissions, which I did for the file (the SWF) that needed it.Did I do something wrong, or is there some permission thet I have to grant before it works as it should be?

Professional :: Call JavaScript From A Stand-alone SWF (outside Of Browser)?

Feb 2, 2010

Can a SWF file, viewed locally in a folder on my PC, make a call to a function in a JavaScript file?I am facing a project where the technical architect is prescribing that all content exist in an all-in-one, giant JavaScript file. With my usual external content experience working with XML, I have always been able to load in XML into the SWF directly (for example, while viewing the SWF in the Flash authoring environment - a very speedy way to view your SWF), as well as when the SWF is actually viewed in the website. However, with the JavaScript approach, my only experience tells me that the SWF has to be embedded in HTML before it has access to the JS functions.

ActionScript 3.0 :: IOErrorEvent When Stopping Large Stand-alone SWF?

Jan 16, 2012

I'm currently working on a AS3 audio app that has a series of embedded audio files. The stand-alone SWF is +600k in size. When the SWF is partially loaded if you unload it, to exit the page or display a Lightbox over the top, it generates a 'Load Never Completed.' error.And crashes the Firefox browser.Fix run time error: Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2036: Load Never Completed.It's not possible to catch this error as it occurs before the first class has initialised.No idea why Flash Player can't make the IOErrorEvent silent for stand-alone SWF's loading into a browser, or is it a browser specific issue? It only seems to effect Firefox, I'm using Windows 7 64 bit, Firefox 32 bit. Any suggestions as a work around for this while keeping it as a stand-alone file? Was thinking the only way is to cut down on the file size but that would either mean making the mp3 assets easy to get hold, load them in on a public path, or load them in using FMS or HDS.
