Professional :: Swf Plays As Stand Alone But Not In Site?
May 18, 2010
I'm a bit frustrated as I've created a Flash movie with an embedded video. The SWF file works fine when I play it as a stand alone file but when I use the file inside my website, the video portion does not play.I have placed the video file and the Flash file in the correct folder on my site.
I have a Flash 8 site that plays a music clip throughout the site. I have a flv video on one of my site's pages and would like to know if there is a way to stop the site's music when the user clicks on the "Play" button of the video and to have the site music start again when the video either ends or the user clicks on stop.
I have an xml driven swf enbeded in xhtml page that plays fine when tested on local machine through dreamweaver CS4 but once uploaded to site, swf won't load. The music plays however so I know it's not about the linking.
My problem is this. I want to embed an swf on my site which plays an FLV video. I do not wish to use a skin but want to create a simple roll over or mouse over which would start the video from the beginning. Unfortunately I have absolutely no idea how I would do this.
So I am relatively new to Flash and After Affects but I managed to make a nice video with Adobe After Effects that my friend wanted to put on his site. After I was done rendering it I used Adobe Media Encoder to make the .avi file into a .f4v file for flash. After opening that flash file with Flash i exported it out into a .swf file. When I opened the .swf it played perfectly, just the way it should. I edited my index.html with Dreamweaver and the coding and everything seemed fine. After previewing the index.html with my browser and Dreamweaver's Live View I was quite satisfied with my results. When I uploaded the files onto my site the flash did not play. It plays locally on my PC but not on the site. I later asked a few more experienced buddies what was wrong and they confirmed that they weren't able to play the file locally nor from the site. At first I thought I may have mixed up the links but they were fine. Here is the code I used for my index.html page.
Can a SWF file, viewed locally in a folder on my PC, make a call to a function in a JavaScript file?I am facing a project where the technical architect is prescribing that all content exist in an all-in-one, giant JavaScript file. With my usual external content experience working with XML, I have always been able to load in XML into the SWF directly (for example, while viewing the SWF in the Flash authoring environment - a very speedy way to view your SWF), as well as when the SWF is actually viewed in the website. However, with the JavaScript approach, my only experience tells me that the SWF has to be embedded in HTML before it has access to the JS functions.
I am currently using to in a sound player in an on the homepage of an html/asp website. At the moment it plays some welcome audio when the visitor arrives on the site (index.asp), however it does get an little annoying when it plays everytime you go onto the homepage.
Is their any way of setting a session variable in actionscript that only plays the audio once when using the site?
I have a huge problem. I have a menu in Flash MX (AS2), it's pretty straightforward: It's a list of links but each time you mouseover one several related ones highlight (the client really wanted this). The code on each button is:
[Code]...
This works fine in IE8, it works fine in the preview in flash, but in FF/Chrome the rollovers work but the link is not clickable. Nothing happens on click. I thought this was perhaps a plug in issue, but when I loaded the movie in FF but not embeded into html it worked fine, it's only when it's embedded into html that the links won't click. The movie is here and the movie in a plain html page is here.[URL]..
A client of mine has had 2 sites (both Flash sites) attacked over the last 12 months, so he's been asking: should he go for a static HTML site or stick with a Flash site? Is there ways to make a Flash site more secure?
Internet Explorer will not display flash video in stand alone video players, similar to the one at: [URL] The other embedded flash content is viewable. In the IE8 tools, manage add on's, Adobe Flash Player is not listed.I've also noticed that when I access the Adobe Flash Settings manager, I can not uncheck "hardware acceleration".Windows XP Home Service Pack 2 is the operating system.
What I want to do is create a page that many other pages link to. This will be my index page. When it loads, the Flash movies play. But, when they return to this page after leaving it to go somewhere else on my site, I don't want the movies to play again.I thought of just having an HTML page that looks exactly like it and then linking the other pages to it, but, since there are a whole lotta pages that need to link to it, search engines might rank that dummy page more highly making it the landing page and then no one would ever visit the real index page with the animations. What to do? Here's a prototype of the page I'm talking about.
I'm trying to create a simple swf file containing an m4v file along with default player controls. I want to add this to a Web page. I've successfully generated such a file, and using the HTML generated by the publish option, I've gotten it to play on IE, FF, Chrome, and Opera under Windows 7. When I try to open the same Web page from the same location on my Mac, however, I see the player controls with an green animation that indicates loading. The movie itself never loads. I've tried this under Safari, Chrome, and Firefox on Mac, all with the same result. I've also had friends try this on other Macs, with the same result. Is there some difference in how Windows and OS X deal with SWF files that I need to account for?
I have tried to loop a video. Though in the SWF, the video plays only once. Can someone see something wrong in the AS3 code below (relevant info tagged like this --->) (FLV instance is called "Film_mc")
I have a SWF (1.8mb) which I placed onto my HTML page using Dreamweaver, and set to autoplay. When I save the file and open it in Firefox/Safari, the movie plays as expected. But when I uploaded the files to my hosting server, the movie doen't appear (not even a box where it should be - just nothing but blank space where it should be). I've made sure that I uploaded the SWF, the HTML file, the expressInstall.swf, and the swfobject_ modified. js file. I also changed the permissions to allow executable scripts. I don't have a Flash blocker installed.[code]
If I have an HTML splash page that has a embedded SWF consisting of a preloader (for itself) at the start of its timeline, then a 5 second hold (no new Flash material), and then have a number of images on HTML page in a <div style="display:none;visiblity:hidden;">, all set with sizes of 1x1:2) Does the SWF get priority with the download, or are both the SWF and images given the same download priority?3) How would I preload (on the splash page) a second SWF that is used in the inner page? Would I embed it as usual, but use the CSS display:none, and set the size as 1x1, as I do with images?
4) Is there a better way to preload the SWF, where the main (splash) SWF actually loops while it downloads the second swf? Would I be loading that second SWF into the splash SWF on a different document level? What ActionScript commands would I use for that? loadMovieNum()? Would I put the incoming second SWF off stage, or set its visibility to hidden?I figured I'd preload some of the interface/common graphics for the inner HTML page that the visitor is brought to after the initial Flash splash page. Even without a preloader that would loop until all the content is loaded, I figured I could just have the splash page hold for a bit, and give the hidden <div> images a chance to load in the background. Obviously, using that method wouldn't guarantee that all the imags load, since it's unmonitored, but would at least give them a bit of a head start
Who'd have guessed it, my SWF plays immediately with FF, but I'm getting long delays with IE8. I've come a long way from when I started this project. I think I have everything in the right place and have the right files to work with.
I'm using SWFObject 2.2 think I'm using it properly. I used the generater (air vers.) to generate the html file. The file now plays and I have a background that displays right away (it's an image of the what first shows up).
where I can improve: [URL]..I've compressed all the images, but the file is still rather big. I expected problems with FF, but it plays immediately .
I created a 5 second animation ion Adobe After Effects CS5 - exported to a swf file which is 50mb.I have this inserted on a dreamvweaver cs5 html page. Running locally it is fine, but slow over the internet.Should a 5 sec swf file be this big? - Anything i can do to speed this up on a webpage? - I have asked this on dreamwaever also, as I am using Dreamveaver CS5.
We moved our F4V files to a different server and I reconnected all the SWF files to them using CS4 without any issue. I just upgraded to CS5 and when I save files the same way I did with CS4, the files preview fine locally but when I post online, the video does not work. Was there some new step added to CS5 that I'm missing? Even if I go to the CS4 SWFfile directly on the server, it plays but the new one does not. I thought maybe Premiere CS5 was the culprit but if I connect an old F4V file and save as a CS5 SWF, it's just a white screen. I even tried importing the video from scratch and still nothing.
I created a quiz that has several small video in AS2. It works fine when I preview it, but when I post in on the internet it plays the first video and goes to a black screen. I created the page and clicked to publish it. I then exported the swf by hitting file/export/export movie then saved this and posted it to the internet. This is how I have done it in the past, but now I get a blank screen.
I have a movie clip symbol that is about 8 frames long. I am staggering it 14 times throughout scene one, with varying times. My problem is that it plays once then disappears (I added actionscript on the last frame in the symbol movie clip). I would like it to play then keep the last frame displayed in scene one until a specific keyframe (60). Not have the movie clip instance loop, rather show the image that is on its last frame.
I have a very rudimentary Flash movie that I have created. Link here to a copy of the SWF file on my company's website:The movie appears to work all right in IE, but not in Firefox or Google Chrome. Here are the details:It's a leaderboard ad, and like I said, it's pretty basic. I have a simple motion tween, and then an incredibly looooooong series of nested movie clips that create the effect of a counter (like a rapidly rising jackpot).I'm not really hip with the intricacies of ActionScript, so I couldn't code something more elegant. The "counter" is supposed to represent an increasing amount of money that not using our services might cost a company.
Ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, and ten thousands use a simple repeating movie clip. hundred thousands use one that is 10x as long, and so on. I had to stop at 1 millions, as the # of frames in between numbers was prohibitively long.i.e. there are 10 frames in between numbers for the hundred thousands place in the movie, 100 frames for millions, and 1,000 frames for millions.but, like I said, I'm a beginner at ActionScript.Thinking the problem might be due to the incredibly long movie clips, I removed the animations from some of the higher numbers from my movie, and this did not appear to affect whether it plays in Firefox or Chrome.
I'm very new to AS3 and have not really worked much since AS1 and a little with AS2.I have a video that I set a cue point named "getURL". It was imported into flash as Load enternal video with playback componet. The instance name for that video is "gunny".The code written is suppose to detect that cue point then forward to another html document. The video runs fine but never forwards to another web page.
Flash Movie that works using Firefox and Safari on my (iMac) desktop, but not after I upload to my website.
I started with an flv video, imported it into an fla document along with a playback skin then published it creating an html file and two swf files. I've checked the html file, and it looks fine. The flv file is only 17MB and I've uploaded all 5 files to my site on:
[URL]
but all I seem to get is the control skin's "sending data" pole turning. The movie never arrives. I can get much bigger mpeg and wmv movies up on my screen very quickly.
I'm running Snow Leopard on my Mac (OX 10.6.6). I've tried using different videos but nothing seems to work.
Audio flvs that previously would play fine no longer play. I get "NetStream.Play.Failed".This occurs when progressively playing over HTTP, i.e. starting NetConnection.connect(null) and then NetStream.play("http://url_of_my_flv");Regular RTMP playback still works. So, I've seen two posts with similar issues in the last day or so:
I am running Windows 7/64 and Master Collection. I've created a clip of DV NTSC footage to test F4V publishing. Done this many times with CS3 and flv files but this has me stumped. I can successfully view the video and web page locally in IE and Netscape but on upload to my server I have the menu and placement right but no video appears. I created the clip in Premiere Pro CS5 and exported to F4V/FLV best quality. Opened an Actionscript Media DV NTSC template in Flash Pro CS5 and imported the video which I had pre-placed in my root web folder locally. I then exported the swf and saved the fla. All files were then in my root folder and the scrpts in the scripts folder. In Live View in Dreamweaver CS5 all looked fine. In each browser locally the video played as expected. Once all files were uploaded the video was not visible.
lets say i want an external FLV flie to play using a component. How can I force at the end of the flv file to go to another frame/scene?So imagine an external video clip plays, once its finished your force to a screen that says "click to go to my website".is this possible? Or does the flv have to be imported to stage???
