I have a custom FLVPLayback class that isn't progressively downloading - it's downloading the entire video into the browser cache before the FLVPlayback gets added to the display list. I'm really stumped. Anyone know what's up?The code:

My First Question is - how can you get it to show the drawing of the line - almost like an animation? This example instantly shows the line - I want the appearance that you're watching the line being drawn. Do you animate the lineTo variable and just keep refreshing? I have a Flex web application where I am visualizing data (for different countries) in the form of charts. The data is in the form of CSV files. There are individual files for individual charts i.e. one file has all data pertaining to one chart for all countries.I have a left navigation menu that allows one to see data on a country by country basis. As I view more and more countries, the web application becomes progressively slower till it freezes completely. The problem goes away if I refresh the browser and empty the cache.I am using the URLLoader class in flex to read the CSV data into a string and then I am parsing the string to generate the charts.I realize this is happening because more and more data is somehow accumulating in the browser.

If you open the above script in your browser, it will print a new line every second. How could I program a similar behavior in AS3? What I want to do is load the script content progressively, in the same way as the browser does.
I am using a logo in .png form. I would like to have the logo very small at first and then get bigger frame by frame as it goes down the timeline. I created a keyframe on frame 1 and then another keyframe on frame 40. I then made the logo on frame 1 a small size, and I have the logo on frame 40 a large size. I am not sure how to tween them to produce the effect. It won't let me select the "shape" tween. I tried "classic" tween and motion tween (makes you convert to symbols), but no dice.
View 8 RepliesI'm trying to use the FLVPlayback class with Flashdevelop(ie - I am not using Flash CS3 and I don't have the privilege of dragging an FLVPlayback onto the stage). In the as3 language reference it says:
To access the properties, methods, and events of the FLVPlayback class, you must import the class to your application either by dragging the FLVPlayback component to the Stage in your Flash application, or by explicitly importing it in ActionScript using the import statement.
From the above it makes it sound like you can use FLVPlayback without having it in your Flash CS3 library...but I've done some reading and everyone is saying that it must be in your Flash CS3 library to use.
When I try and do this in Flashdevelop(simplified code):

I have 3 questions:
1. Is it possible to use FLVPlayback with pure actionscript? ie - can I just import the class with the import statement and use it without having to connect it in with some IDE like flash or flex?
2. fl.video.FLVPlayback is listed in the AS3 language reference...even if FLVPlayback isn't going to work without it being in my library - why do I get an error when I try to import fl.video.FLVPlayback? Why can't this class be found?
3. If I can only use FLVPlayback by adding it to the library, then are there any video player classes out there that are pure actionscript without this limitation?

i am creating a package, MainTimeLine.as, to extend my main timeline. i use the FLVPlayback component under the package. however, i get the compile error:
1172: Definition fl.video:FLVPlayback could not be found. so i added the "import fl.video.FLVPlayback;" line to my MainTimeLine.as file, but flash gives the above error. now i had this problem when i added this code directly under a frame of the main timeline until i added a FLVPlayback instance to my library. now, i am trying to simply embed all of the code under the MainTimeLine.as file and have the as file encapsulate all of it. but, i still get that error.
so, how do i get flash cs4 to recognize and use the import properly
Is it possible to use the FLVPlayback class to play an instance of the Video class? I'm loading the video (which is just an audio track with cue points) in using GreenSocks LoaderMax (along with the rest of my assets) and so have various instances of Video. The FLVPlayback class only accepts a String as its' source. Is there any way to hack it to bypass whatever loading it does and just feed it the video directly?

I'm a teacher and I have some animations made in flash language (swf). I would like to publish these animations on my web site so my students could see, but I wonder if there is any way to prevent these animations being downloaded.
Example: when I see an animation published on my web site, this animation is stored in Internet Temporary Files and I can save this animation anywhere. How can I prevent an animation is stored in the temporary folder? In other words, this animation can only be seen if the user is logged on the site.
I downloaded Flash, extracted it, and open the folder. However,when i click on setup.exe, nothing pops up. I looked inside task manager and see that the setup is using up 50% cpu but nothing pops up.I am using vista home premium sp2.

View 2 Replies All I want to do is to preload an flv in a similar way a regular preloader works with the first frame having a clip that displays "LOADING" when the correct amount of the flv is loaded it moves to frame 2 and plays.I have looked at the Flash docs for this and all the codes are based on using a component, my flv's are being streamed and downloaded from a regular server and I need to have the playback based on the buffer time. So figure if 50% of the flv is downloaded then play the flv.

Making a progress bar for a progressive download is easy, just check the bytesLoaded vs the bytesTotal. But apparently with a streaming video those do not work. View 2 RepliesI would like to develop a package made in Flash, if I put it on the internet as such and have downloads etc, is there a way to generate a password (or activation key and a password) that can then be embedded with the download so it can be used offline. If I can automate the process so I do not need to make individual packages but can control their use... this would be good. I don't have a problem if they also have internet connection, but the package needs to function off line. I guess I could use a batch passwords then selectively send out passwords in that batch, but this seems heavy.

I need to lock off access to any .fla files that might come up on a virtual host. We keep them next to the few .swf we use on some of our sites, I just want to be sure they are not being downloaded by people or spiders that may scrape the site.
There isn't really anything sensitive in the fla's but I'd rather keep them in the same folder and have them forbidden to downloaders.
I've tried the MIME type route (check if MIME type is defined under HTTP Headers > MIME Types, remove if it was, etc;), but there is no FLA defined, but I can still download the file by default. I recall this was the opposite if you WANTED to serve .flv files, but not .fla's[code]...
How would you be able to stop people from downloading flash video from your site instead of viewing it in a flash player. I would like to prevent people from downloading the flash video by ripping the stream. I am not looking for 100% prevention but ways to make this difficult and annoying.

The 5 menu names are inside the same movie clip called Menu01. however its the same movie clip in each place of each menu so when i go to edit in place each menu comes up with home. It all works great except that I have open with photoshop then save as jpg to get a useable jpg image.
