I would like to load the content of a server side script progressively. This is the php script:

If you open the above script in your browser, it will print a new line every second. How could I program a similar behavior in AS3? What I want to do is load the script content progressively, in the same way as the browser does.
I'm have made some buttons (movie clip) and when I click on it, I want a file (home.swf) to load in a loader (mx.contents.loader) and I want the other buttons to do the same, all load into the same loader. I have no Idea how to do that. The way I have it set up now, the home.swf will load over the entire screen and that is not what I want. I just want the content to load into the loader and have its content change once I click on the other buttons. Here is a copy and past of that I have at the moment, I'm using Flash 8 to do it all.

My First Question is - how can you get it to show the drawing of the line - almost like an animation? This example instantly shows the line - I want the appearance that you're watching the line being drawn. Do you animate the lineTo variable and just keep refreshing? My Second Question is - can you do the same with a Bezier curve? In the end, I'm trying to draw random bezier lines from the left to the right in varying thicknesses and shapes (being able to see them being drawn from left to right).

View 6 RepliesI have a Flex web application where I am visualizing data (for different countries) in the form of charts. The data is in the form of CSV files. There are individual files for individual charts i.e. one file has all data pertaining to one chart for all countries.I have a left navigation menu that allows one to see data on a country by country basis. As I view more and more countries, the web application becomes progressively slower till it freezes completely. The problem goes away if I refresh the browser and empty the cache.I am using the URLLoader class in flex to read the CSV data into a string and then I am parsing the string to generate the charts.I realize this is happening because more and more data is somehow accumulating in the browser.

View 9 RepliesI am using a logo in .png form. I would like to have the logo very small at first and then get bigger frame by frame as it goes down the timeline. I created a keyframe on frame 1 and then another keyframe on frame 40. I then made the logo on frame 1 a small size, and I have the logo on frame 40 a large size. I am not sure how to tween them to produce the effect. It won't let me select the "shape" tween. I tried "classic" tween and motion tween (makes you convert to symbols), but no dice.

Url...He wants something similar but his site will be 100% flash and so this will have to be done form a flash form.I'm having problems even getting this running from an HTML form. I've done my best here:URL...but since I don't know the original output settings of these flv files I'm trying to load over the submitted page, the versions are messed up and when I run the form, I keep getting prompted to download flash player.Do I need to embed these flv fiels of presenters I have and plonk them into a swf file and then load that swf file from the form, rather than link directly to the flv?I'm tearing my hair out over this - I thought I'd be able to work it out easily from the numerous pages out there that offer the same service but there don't seem to be any resources online that point me at creating a form to load flash content over a submitted URL.

But I find if the target swf contains TLF and if you set the publish property to RSL instead of "merge into code", the content of Loader will be set to some "__Preloader__".

View 5 RepliesI have a loader that loads main application. Everything works fine, except one issue:
When main application is loaded, animation in loader freezes for few seconds (5-8). I think during these 5-8 seconds main application creates it's objects.
I tried to minimize number of objects in main application and it did help a bit, but freezing problem is still there.
How to load content without freezing?
I have a preloader that I downloaded... What I want to do is have this load only a certain percentage of the move before it continues to play the file.I assume that I have to edit the line of code that gets the total amount of bytes for the file itself... expressed below:

i have some MCs with embedded buttons for "home" "about" "contact" etc. they seem to work just fine. i also have a MC clip (main_stage) in the center of my stage into which i'm trying to load jpgs (from an external file called home_back.swf) as backgrounds by clicking on the buttons. this does not work at all and i'm about to drink a gallon of hemlock to end my frustration.[code]i have since gone to MC/buttons to get some nice animations going as it seemed simpler this way, for the buttons at least. but now the above code doesn't work...apparently because that's button scripting and not MC scripting. so my question is how do i get these MC/buttons to link the external .swf jpg's to MC content box? if there is a simpler way to do this i'm all ears.

View 5 Repliesi am trying to dynamically load some content using actionscript into my movie but i already have content on standard layers within the movie. so everytime i start the movie and the dynamic content is loaded it loads it all on top of the content already displayed on the normal layers and i want it to load underneath the content that i have already put there myself.
for example, i have made my menu using flash and have it on a layer in the main MC, when the movie loads it loads the following script which loads the content pages of the site. but it loads it ontop of the menu therefore you cannot see the menu to view different content as it is being covered by the content pages. i would like it to load below the menu so that you can see the menu and choose what content you are to view.

View 1 RepliesI am using the load command to load content from a .txt file on my server. I have it all working just find when I preview the swf file in flash and when I view the .swf in my web browser from my server. The problem when I view the .swf file on my php page (home.php) I only get undefined variables, it seems to not be able to connect to the .txt files only when I am viewing it on my php page. Again if I view the .swf file on my server using my web browser it works fine.

I've got content coming into my application using a query and an ArrayCollection. I know how to display the content into a DataGrid by using the dataProvider propriety, but I'd like to use TextInput components and drop the DataGrid altogether.
I'm still having a problem all that displays is [object,object]

I found it is very useful to load a swf into AS as class (what Embed metadata did). However, I am in trouble to do exact the same thing to content that is not load in compile-time (Loader and URLRequest). How can I do that?

I will need the option to hide boxes that are not being used.
