ActionScript 3.0 :: Load Content In Order?
Nov 18, 2008I'm loading several pictures into my movie. How can I set the order of which one should appear first? Do I add an listener or how should I do it?

I'm dynamically loading content (jpgs & text) into a scrollpane from an xml file. It should display an image, and then below it some associated text. My problem is that when the content loads in, the first jpg isnt visible. I'm pretty sure its there because all the other jpgs load. What I think is happening is that the scrollpane is displaying the text below the 1st jpg at the very top of the scrollpane, which leaves the jpg above the scrollpane and thus not visible.
When I first started this catalog. I was loading the content into an MC I had manually created and was attaching to the scrollpane via attachMovie. I had the same problem as above in this scenario as well...and to correct that what I did was make a box that went around the entire are that the jpgs and text loaded into. This allowed the jpg to show up.
But now that I'm dynamically creating both the holder MC and the textfield, I'm back to losing the 1st jpg image. It seems to me that the scrollpane needs something above the jpg holder MC for it to be displayed.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Content Loader Loads The Files In Wrong Order
Feb 28, 2010I am using a content loader through AS3 to load some images and then later pushed into an array. I have pushed my image file paths in to an array (arrayImages). But when the loader loads the images it doesn't load the images based on the order they are listed in the arrayImages, instead they were loaded based on their file sizes. Is there anyway that these can be loaded in the order they were pushed to the array? Below is the code that i use to load the images.

Pull The Content Via An Xml / Php Page Under My Own Domain In Order To Get Around The Flash Security?
Oct 13, 2010find the code to pull some simple text from an external website's RSS feed into a basic text box in a Flash movie. It would need to be in AS2 to fit with the website. I understand I need to pull the content via an xml / php page under my own domain in order to get around the Flash security, but I still can't scrape together the right code for it to work.

Aug 15, 2009I'm have made some buttons (movie clip) and when I click on it, I want a file (home.swf) to load in a loader (mx.contents.loader) and I want the other buttons to do the same, all load into the same loader. I have no Idea how to do that. The way I have it set up now, the home.swf will load over the entire screen and that is not what I want. I just want the content to load into the loader and have its content change once I click on the other buttons. Here is a copy and past of that I have at the moment, I'm using Flash 8 to do it all.

Professional :: Load Images In Order?
Jan 31, 2011I have an image gallery of 6 images on a frame of my timeline. what I want to happen is instead of all images trying to load up at the same time when at that point in the timeline I want the 1st image to process and load then move on to the 2nd image here is how I am loading those images.
location1.loadMovie ("image1.jpg");
location2.loadMovie ("image2.jpg");
location3.loadMovie (image3.jpg");
and so on.
can I edit this code somehow so that the 2nd through 6th images do not load until image 1st is fully loaded and so on.

Aug 4, 2010I have a gallery set up with three primary images. Clicking a primary image brings up it's specific subset of alternate views for the product.
I've managed to get the loading and placement down as I need it, but the images are not loading in the correct order. I've tried several solutions, the current one is that an array of each Sub Image is processed in order. It looks kinda of sloppy but image 1 loads, and when image 1 is complete, image 2 loads. After each image loads, it is put into another array. This array is used to resize and place the files. However when I do so, instead of the placement order being
item[0]
item[1]
item[2]
item[3]
item[4]
it keeps ending up like this:
item[4]
item[2]
item[1]
item[3]
item[0]
Here is the relevant code. When the following function starts with sArray, the items are confirmed to be in order.

Am I right that the first thing downloaded is the main timeline as defined by the document class, and the document class's constructor is the first thing run? Or does the SWF wait untill the first frame is loaded and run the actionscript located there first? In that case, what about SWF based on a Sprite instead of a MovieClip?
I'm trying to make a swf that preloads itself, so I want to make sure the first thing that happens is that it stops and displays the preloader and its associated assets. I'm worried that the preloader might take so long to load that it doesn't display immediately, leaving the user wondering why there's no preloader preloader...

I need EXCEPT it always displays the first one first, and then the rest in random order. I tried making the first frame empty, but then there was a big lag before it showed anything, because of the timer. Here's the script I used:

Aug 11, 2006I have a small gallery that loads thumbnails and the links they represent from an xml file. When I test it gallery on my computer everything works fine. However, when I simulate a download or when I upload to an actual site things start going wrong.[URL]I modified what i needed too and reused the rest. Everything works fine except for that the load order of the thumbnails is reversed. I haven't really changed any part of the code that would cause this, or at least I don't think I have.
The real problem, however, is that when i simulate a downloaded version or when upload them to my test site, the position of the thumbnails are swapped. A thumbnail i expected to load in a certain place and order has now taken the place of another one. When clicking a thumbnail it displays the picture of the thumbnail that should actually have been there, so the links still load in the correct order.When i change the simulated bandwidth while testing the movie, the position alter. At one bandwidth they show up in a certain order and when then trying out another bandwidth the order changes.

Aug 17, 2004I am creating an order form for my flash site. I have never done this before in flash but I have in visual basic. I have a few questions:
1. Is assigning variable names to checkboxes and radio buttons the same as in visual basic? I mean i know that you probably assign them in the properties. ex..say i name a radio button 'radio1', to run a check in my actionscript whether radio1 was checked or not would it be something like if(radio1){}
2. After the person fills out the form I would like to have the results of the order sent to a pre-specified email adress in a certain format. What would be a good way to do this?

Load Flash Content Over A Submitted URL
Apr 23, 2009Url...He wants something similar but his site will be 100% flash and so this will have to be done form a flash form.I'm having problems even getting this running from an HTML form. I've done my best here:URL...but since I don't know the original output settings of these flv files I'm trying to load over the submitted page, the versions are messed up and when I run the form, I keep getting prompted to download flash player.Do I need to embed these flv fiels of presenters I have and plonk them into a swf file and then load that swf file from the form, rather than link directly to the flv?I'm tearing my hair out over this - I thought I'd be able to work it out easily from the numerous pages out there that offer the same service but there don't seem to be any resources online that point me at creating a form to load flash content over a submitted URL.

When main application is loaded, animation in loader freezes for few seconds (5-8). I think during these 5-8 seconds main application creates it's objects.
I tried to minimize number of objects in main application and it did help a bit, but freezing problem is still there.
How to load content without freezing?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Get An MC / Button To Load Content In Another MC Box?
Oct 8, 2003i have some MCs with embedded buttons for "home" "about" "contact" etc. they seem to work just fine. i also have a MC clip (main_stage) in the center of my stage into which i'm trying to load jpgs (from an external file called home_back.swf) as backgrounds by clicking on the buttons. this does not work at all and i'm about to drink a gallon of hemlock to end my frustration.[code]i have since gone to MC/buttons to get some nice animations going as it seemed simpler this way, for the buttons at least. but now the above code doesn't work...apparently because that's button scripting and not MC scripting. so my question is how do i get these MC/buttons to link the external .swf jpg's to MC content box? if there is a simpler way to do this i'm all ears.
