ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Fading Sound Does Not Work
Jan 9, 2012
When I try to fade in sound with the function below. It just doesn't work and I can't figure out where the problem is. I would like to fade in a looping sound but nothing happens. This is used to play a sound via events
Code:
dispatchEvent(new CustomEventSound(CustomEventSound.PLAY_SOUND, Main.SOUND_AMBIENT, false, true, false, 999999, 0, 0, setSoundVolume));
This is the function to play a sound. the stop-function is almost identical to this one.
Code:
public function playSound(soundName:String, isSoundTrack:Boolean = false, fadeIn:Boolean = false, fadeOut:Boolean = false,
loops:int = 1, offset:Number = 0, volume:Number = 1):void {
if (fadeIn) {
tempSoundTransform.volume = 0;
[Code] .....
I have this problem when I try to fade in sound with the function below. It just doesn't work and I can't figure out where the problem is. I would like to fade in a looping sound but nothing happens.
I am putting a flash website together. It is a picture of a group of people standing outside and at random intervals a storm will fade in and out giving dynamic rain/wind/thunder sounds and lightning. The only problem I have is fading the sound out. The sound fades in fine with the movie clip but when the movie clip disappears the sound continue.Here is the code for that part of the flash. The "randomness" of the storm is set to very high probability on purpose for debugging reasons.
I'm trying to play 2 external flash movies. its already running ok but i need the scene to be somewhat to gradually become transparent so that the timebased scene2 will comeout to of the screen.
Here is the script of it:
var myLoader:Loader = new Loader(); var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest("scene2.swf"); myLoader.load(url); addChild(myLoader);
I am looking for a way to play music when the movie loads, but when a button is pressed, the sound will fade to 0, then when the button is clicked again, it will fade to 100. Here is a link to the file I've been working on...
I'm trying to figure out how I can fade out a sound object after it has looped twice. Right now the sound fades 5 seconds before the end of the first loop (since the fade code is based on the duration of the sound clip).Seems like there needs to be a way to count when the duration has been reached two times and then the fade code is executed. Note: the linkage identifier of the sound clip is "mainPageLoop".[code]...
I'm trying to create a function that will help me fade in sounds with the help of setInterval. I'm almost there! Here is the code so far:
// Begin melodyhalf1 = new Sound("melodyhalf1_mc"); melodyhalf1.attachSound("melodyhalf1"); melodyhalf1.start(0, 99);
[Code]....
I placed a comment in the Sound.prototype.fadeIn to test if it was being called, as well as to see if the melodyhalf1 variable (object?) was being passed.
The results are that the fadeIn function *is* being called, but the trace(this) comes back with 'undefined'.
I have a flash file with a background music sound object, and I have a video player at a particular section on the timeline. When the playback head goes to the section with the video player, I would like the background music to fade, but of course, I need the volume to be up for the video. The code I have works find to fade the audio, but the problem is that the video's sound also turns off.
This is the code at the beginning of the timeline: _global.volumeVar = 40; //Stores the current volume. bgSound = new Sound(this); //This block works finebgSound.attachSound("music");bgSound.start(0,99); bgSound.setVolume(0); [Code] .....
Further down the time line, in the video player section, there this code, which works to fade the sound, but seems to turn off the video, too: nInterval = setInterval(fadeOutSound, _global.volumeVar);
How to import sound with AS? Cuz i have tried it and my sound just wount play. Can you explain me where my sound should be and what is the as code for importing cuz i use
mysound = new Sound(); mysound.attachSound("SoundOn"); mysound.start();
and this SoundON from where i get it, i try to add linkage to the sound file but in CS4 i cant find the option;. I do it from the library, adding text into the linkage field but still my sound doesn't want to play?
The code seems OK but I can't hear the sound. I have it in the fla/swf and exported etc... I suppose something in this code is wrong. Haven't coded for ages - bit rusty I'm afraid.
I'm trying to develop something for Flash 5 Player and nothing seems to work. Currently I'm having trouble with the following bit of AS which works fine if I export for Flash 6. But in Flash 5...no sound. Is there a specific way an mp3 needs to be encoded for Flash 5 or does it not even accept mp3s?
I can't work out why - but when I try to fade out some text (by calling fadeoutSecondText), the text fades out, and then immediately fades back in. Fading in and out struggle against each other, resulting in rapidly flashing text!
when i test the movie all i see is a large grey box (border color) with a medium white box (box color) in the bottom right.when i edit the border and lose the grey box but leave its line borders then i get the image with the white box in the bottom right. i've got an image: instance named 'image', a box: instance named 'box' and a border: instance named 'border' and pasted in the actionscript in
i've done the Fading Grid tutorial that Voetsjoeba wrote but i seem to be de-railing somewhere when i test the movie all i see is a large grey box (border color) with a medium white box (box color) in the bottom right.when i edit the border and lose the grey box but leave its line borders then i get the image with the white box in the bottom right. i've got an image: instance named 'image', a box: instance named 'box' and a border: instance named 'border' and pasted in the actionscript in place but it still hangs.
I know, I could get a better one for free, but this is easy and I'm no good at flash, etc. Anyway, everything's fine, except I can't seem to get the sound to work. There's a component parameter called "flip sound" (I think) - I put my sound in there (it's all in the same folder, so no path), and - no sound.
Im using Flash CS3 with Action Script 2. I create a Flash file with few scenes in it. im using movie clip button in every scenes plus i embed .mov file in some of the scenes. I also have sound in every single scenes.
i create btnHDPage1 with instance name hd1 to be linked to scene1 and i create btn2 with instance name hd2 to be linked to scene2. (all these buttons are movie clip buttons). i have a sound and both scenes and a .mov file in scene1
The problem is, when i click on hd1 or hd2, yes it goes to appropriate scene. but the sound is overlapping and when im in scene2 and click on hd1 to go to scene1, my sound does not play and my .mov does not working.
I'm totally stuck on getting a sound to work in my movie. Here's my code: s = new Sound(); s.attachSound("hibee"); _root.menu_flyin.admin_mc.onRollOver = function(){ s.start(); }
I created a test movie to see if there is someting wrong with the way I am scripting. But the test worked and my real movie doesn't! The sound is being targetted to a movie clip within a movie clip (_root.menu_flyin.admin_mc) and all instances are there on the stage. I linked the "hibee" sound file to export to 1st frame for Actionscripting and all.
I'm creating a flash of a piano in which you hit a button and it plays that key. I have a single file of the entire scale, and I tried to put a stop(); command after each note- however it's not stopping. Shouldn't the stop command respond to the actionscript since the sound file is in the timeline?
Here's a link to the FLA file- I've barely started working on it, so it's hardly coded except for the stop actionscript. music_scale.fla
I tried to build a metronome in Flash AS2 with a rather lousy result because it won't keep the pace which would have been a suitable feature for a metronome. I tried a few different methods to do the sync with actionscript. I even tried to put the sound in the timeline but it didnt work any better of course. Here is the code: AS2 with constant tempo 200 ms, based on the onEnterFrame handler, framerate set to 5 fps:

(Flash 5) Ok guys, I am trying to get a button to work by pressing keys. Problem 1) I want the keys that are pressed to be ,1,2,3,etc... and those keys aren't in Flash's actions, can they still work? Or do I have to use keys like SPACE, RETURN, etc...??? Problem 2) Here is the code I'm using. I also want a sound to be played while the button is going down. The sound is in the "down" of the button, but I linked it. THe linkage name is "sound1" here is the code;
I've been using a pipeline of copying complex vector data from Adobe Illustrator and pasting it into Flash Professional.In most instances, especially in the first instance, the colors during the import will remain the same, but sometimes they come in faded.This has happened across several versions of both software.This is the typical AI Import dialog, with layers not maintained and vector.it could potentially save me a lot of time I usually spend tweaking back to it's AI appearance.
I followed this tutorial and I couldn't manage to get it to function. I'm new to flash and I'm thinking the reason it didn't work is because I used a different ActionScript method. I used AS3, is there another type I should be using? Or is the coding different from the version used in the tutorial to CS4?
I have created a flash pro cs5 movie with several key frames in and as the movie plays, it moves onto the next keyframe - each keyframe uses the same template but with a different picture in each. Also each keyframe has buttons in of which are all identical as well and stay in the same place as the movie plays.
As the movie plays and the picture in each keyframe changes I want each one to fade out then in to the next picture. I can see that you can do this in Flash Catalyst but can this be done in Flash Pro? I can not see how I can import the swf file into catalyst then fade each of the pictures which is tied up in a single swf file?
I'm using the Loader class in AS3.0 to load external images. I need to load a random image each time and I'm using a timer to load a new image after 5 seconds or so. When I load the first image,
[Code]...
The problem is that my fading routine does not work. One image loads, and the next one appears straight away when it is finished loading.
My code feels like a bit of a hack...is there a nicer way that actually works...?
I am trying to take ten images, load them into an array, and then show them one at a time,fading out each one in turn. I keep getting this error.
